I love this song and grew up with it in my youth, and nothing will beat the original, however being a musician all these years also, I have 6 different versions of this song, saved, all good remakes, including this one.I think it is keeping up with the times. As long as the song is re-recorded it continues to live, including with the generation who is listening to it. They will never replace the original for us who knew it when it was new, only add new creativity to the music, Disney did it :).
