I'm not sure what triggers everything, but I've been told that you won't have to face the chainsaw guy if you stay out of the houses. You can wait until the bell rings to go collect the stuff inside the houses in safety.
I don't think you can reconfigure the keyboard controls, but I can't remember for certain. It's a very bad port with bad graphics and worse controls. I'd advise you to get a console version instead, if that's at all an option for you. If you do get the PC version, though, you oughta use a game controller or the Wiimote + Nunchuk with my revised script (see IR Wiidux video). Playing with the keyboard is a nightmare!
You can buy a USB adapter for it, or you can buy a PC game controller. The wired Xbox 360 controller also works, or the wireless one with the addition of the USB wireless gaming receiver.

This is not the Wii. This is the PC version played with a GlovePIE script I wrote based on the Wii Edition's control scheme. But having never played the actual Wii Edition, I could not acurately replicate the way it feels. And due to shortcomings in the PC port of the game, there's no way for me to replicate the precise aiming that the Wii Edition will allow. My videos and script should not be taken as a demonstration of anything featured in the Wii Edition.
if i read it right somewhere on the internet there is gonna be RE4 for the nintendo wii soon , i hope they wil adjust the knifing thing so it folows your moves
From the videos I've seen, the knife animation/control is not 1:1. It just does a canned animation in response to a shaking gesture, similar to what I'm doing in my videos.
This is the PC version. There are fan-made button packs for PS2 and Xbox buttons. At the time of this filming, I had a PS2 button pack installed and wasn't even aware of it. My next video will show the game with the default button images, and with the official patch applied.
