  • The Bang Bang song begin from CHER only

  • This is definitely the original of Cher singing, just sped up a little. The song was written by Sonny for Cher's secong solo album. Nancy's version appeared the same year, but after Cher's.

  • but nancy sang it better

  • Original and best. Nancy's version sounds pedestrian and strained, Cher's later arrangement sounds over the top. This one just suits the music.

  • Finally, one of you knows the facts. (No disrespect intended) but I remember this song very well. Yes, the speed is off, that's why it doesn't sound like Cher. This is Cher, folks, and Nancy covered it later. And, it rocks the socks off her new version, which is over-produced.

  • @allegrafi Ditto-amen to that opinion!

  • Best Version Ever - Original Cher version. I used to listen to this as a kid and act it out. LOVE IT!!!

  • that is cher and how she used to sing back then

  • brookeholland67@msn.com

  • bad ass 100% best version I've heard. Thanks cbw

  • someone told me she sang this with a mouthful of snickers bars on a water bed full of bourbon surrounded by puppies that were dyed purple and blue

  • Better than the updated version, otherwise, I'll take Nancy.

  • Cher's song is hers :)

  • Well not 1949 but the 1940s i definetly know.

  • @utubeguy35 may 1946 i think born. was issued on liberty in europe etc

  • Cher was born in 1949, this song was released in 1966 on Imperial Records (though some records release it on Liberty Records). I agree that this song is sped up a little bit, you need to fix that.

  • 1966 o_O

    Cher is THAT old? lol

  • U'r all nutz! This is obviously the Cher Version of the song, and I disagree with all of the Cher lovers out there, Nancy Sinatra did a better version of the song because she did slow it down and brought the raw emotion out of the song... Idk that much about Cher; but did she even write this song?

  • This is absolutely sped up.

  • I remember hearing this song on the school bus as a kid. Her voice is higher because she was a kid, too.

  • This is the true original. This is how it sounded. It's not sped up=)

  • that is definitely the cher version and of all the versions it is the best nancys is toooo \slow

  • me encanta la canción

  • This is in fact Cher, this song is on both the 2005 Cher Gold Disc 1, and the 2003 The Very Best of Cher [Warner Bros #1] disc. It is even clearer on the actual CD and you can easily tell it is Cher on them. This video is a bit lower quality (but still very good) which makes it harder to determine, but I guarantee that it is Cher.

  • have a look on any cher 60s hits compilation and you will find this exact recording on them. actually it is sonny bono who held all copyright with the management team at the time. the single is a uk original on liberty cat no 66160 from 1966. from 1967 most 45s had the green demo labels under the emi group. it had already been a no 1 hit for cher before nancy even laid down the track to tape, and stevie wonder had it on his down to earth lp from 66

  • this video is running slightly fast tho by abt 3 rpm, come on people please tell all who this is. i think people are trying to take the so called michael here!

  • @isilder This 100% cher

  • @CDeanWatcher

This is the Cher version. It sounds weird because it has been sped up, I think, or perhaps it's some digital artifact making her voice sound higher.

  • I don't thing this is Cher at all. Moreover Bang Bang was sung by Sonny & Cher together. Nancy Sinatra made a later cover. No doubt, in 1966 the original version was by Sonny & Cher! I still must have te rekord somewhere.

  • believe me this is cher only! it was a worldwide hit reaching no1 in a few countrys too. sonny wrote this and probably played on a instrument on it, but never sang on this 45! as a serious fan for 25yrs i know who sang on what and when.

  • @Cheapbeatlewhore You are correct-this isn't Nancy-her cover is much slower-always loved this version of the song the best-not crazy what Cher did with it later but is her tune so glad someone uploaded this one!

  • Attilio: can you tell me where to find Sonny & Cher singing this song ? I have only heard Cher solo. I have not found a duet version. Chere definitely owns this song in her later versions.

  • The trademark Sonny & Cher was the only one to appear on records. In 1966 in Europe we didn't have the opprotunity to see them singing and probably Cher only was. There were so many contemporary european covers of Bang Bang , two or three for each language....more than any other pop hit ever, I believe.

  • sonny wrote this for cher to sing solo, he never sang this song

  • phil: that was my experience, but I wanted to be sure.

  • Bang Bang was a solo single by Cher that made it to Number 2 in April of 1966. It was her biggest solo hit during Sonny & Cher's sixties run.

  • No, it was sung by Cher only on her solo album from '66. This is cher, but the speed is off so it doesn't really sound like her.

  • Sorry but Nancy Sinatra only ever owned this song, original or not :)

    Thanks for posting though!

  • i disagree, i prefer the cher version, nancys lacks excitement in it, too flat n plain

  • @Cheapbeatlewhore - Thats fair, with covers vs originals, its always a case of personal preference. I wouldn't call it a lack of excitement though, I was probably wrong in saying this was Nancy's song, because tbh they're different songs as Chers is alot more ubeat and Nancys isn't

  • @Cheapbeatlewhore it has emotion, which suits this song way better than excitement.

  • My god....... I have not heard this since the very early 70's. Thanks for posting it.

  • ah the original finally!, i prefer nancys but this is also good :)

  • This really sounds like a song from 1966... Nancy Sinatra made it timeless.

  • Cher makes it just a pop song, but the Nancy Sinatra one will hits you in the gut.

  • It was from the time when there was: sonny & Cher, and this is the original, 1st release..

  • bang bang ill shootcha down

  • i like Nancy Sinatra's version so much better, but this one isn't terrible. <3

  • yes but this is the original... i think but yea it is reely good!! i havnt heard sinatra yet though

  • I like Sinatra's version more.

  • This is the original version, it was written for Cher, NOT Nancy Sinatra- from what I'v heard.

  • that's correct :-), sonny bono wrote it for cher in 1966. Also in 1966, Nancy Sinatra released her version of the song, nancy's version remained relatively obscure until it was used in the opening scenes of the 2003 movie Kill Bill Volume 1.

    i like Nancy Sinatra's version, but cher's is nr. 1 one :D

  • YES! I knew it.. I hate it when people refer to Sinatra's version as the original. :P

  • this song was written for Cher the composer is Sonny Bono

  • @scramasboy yes. but the sinatra version is better. but i hate cher.....

  • WOW! Fantastic! CHER IS THE BEST!!!

  • :S where did you find :S:S this is the best:S
