Well said, but I think Silenoz from Dimmu Borgir should get a mention there as well (altho some will flame me for saying so). Silenoz is the 2nd best black metal lyricist ever after Isahn (Silenoz did his best stuff between Stormblast & Puritanical). DB's old shit is fucking awesome.

Why has hating Dimmu Borgir become the trendy thing to do these days? You don't see me running around shouting "I hate Metallica" cos I don't like their post 80's stuff...

im saying the sudden interest in black metal, is due to vargs release from prison. i could care less about the guy personally. Abbath and Satyr are much better. i saw satyricon in january with cradle of filth and satyricon blew cradle of filth off the stage and cradle of filth was the headliner, i have yet to see immortal play, if they came around i would for sure go to the show. Abbath is a great musician and a good showman who knows that its all joke and that not all black metal is satan

Vargs release was far more low key than I thought though. You would not be disappointed by Immortal live, believe me! I've see Satyricon, and you are right, they are phenomenal live, but Immortal are just as good, I saw them at Graspop last year having waited many years and they were astounding, the highlight of the festival for me, and considering some of my favourite bands ever (Iron Maiden, Kiss, Judas Priest, Rose Tattoo) played, thats saying something!

What's really amazing about watching these two play together is how they work as a team. All their songs are written around two very intricately-interlaced guitars, but when you hear them it sounds like one instrument. I think this is one of the best guitar teams in metal history.

Ihsahn (screen right) turned 32 in 2008. Meaning he was in his early teens when this song was written and recorded. He did vocals, guitars, and keyboards for the song. This guy is a genius!
