I would not listen on principle to Johannes Heesters but Willi Forst is a favourite especially this song.

Das Lied handelt ja davon, dass wahre Liebe mehr wert ist als Geld und soziale hohe Stellung. Ich meine es ganz ernst: man müsste heute eine neue Version dieses Liedes singen:
"Mein Mädel ist nur eine Hartz-4-Empfängerin, mit 300 Euro im Monat und manchmal, wenn sie Hunger hat, schleicht sie heimlich sich zur TAFEL hin, aber ich liebe sie so sehr"
Das würde, glaube ich, vielen armen Menschen wieder Mut und Selbstachtung schenken.
