  • I must agree! He sounds so much like him, it's crazy!

  • damn he can sing

  • and enjoy's singing that motherfucker... that's whats up.... the band and back ground is on it as well...

  • come here!!

    spain!!

  • I almost thought he was lip syncing to Stevie Wonder singing his own song. This man has an incredible voice. Where is he?

  • 2.44 - 2.55 Lord have Mercy!!!!

  • I close my eyes and I cannot tell the difference...he sings background for Stevie now...I saw him in Milwaukee at Summerfest...Stevie showed him love and just let him rip it acapella..he was outstanding!

  • amazingggg

  • ladyvee do you have the full version of that girl? thanx

  • I've said it since day one, he sounds just like Stevie Wonder.

  • Have you seen the vid I have of him singing That Girl by Stevie?? Crazy!!

  • vocally muscular, refreshing to see one of the few artist post the motown generation who can sing live. Glen, it appears you have the goods to be more than a 1 hit wonder. Get to work my friend.

  • Loving the vocal abilities...sing bro!

  • Excellent live performer. He is one of the best male singers around.

  • buddy is a true unsun hero no vocalist out can compete with his range and vocal skill when it comes to my era......

  • God this man is so bloody gorg. love him to bits and his voice!!!!!

  • I love u GLEN LEWIS PLEASE COME BACK N SING 2009. U R STILL LOVED NEVER FORGOTTEN.

  • this is when music use to be good. i miss those days. =/

  • he sounds like my mans stevie wonder

  • i've been saying this for years!

  • he is so fuckin cute his face is gorgeous and hes talented ass hell his cd was nice as hell.

  • This dude is incredible!!!

  • I can't believe this dude can't get a deal. He had a successful album and he was nominated for a Grammy. World Outside My Window was good album. I take that back, comparing it today stuff very good.

  • Glenn is my fav singer...I agree, im an up-coming singer myself and he did over-do it, but only on this song, luk at his others...I don't blame im though, it was his homecoming and sometimes getting over-excitement can make u lose it a bit...to move the emotion of the song is an art in itself and momentum has to be built from ground up...unfortunately, he just started blowing out from the get-go on this song

  • glenn lewis is a very good singer, fuk ur techical bullshit, a good singer is a good singer regardless what anyone says, this was a great preformance, so shut up a deal with it musicluvreue

  • This response may post twice. Sorry if it does.

For a lesson in the art of over-singing riffs and the presentation of a song, see this link (cut & paste/replace any * with a dot):

For a lesson in the art of falsetto and the presentation of a song, see this link:

Two very different examples of how less is more. Musical notes are like diamonds. Polish them gently and allow each one to sparkle. Leave your audience mes-me-rized.

  • Final comment. As a lover of strong R&B music and great young singers like Glenn, you have to remember we have YouTube now. It's critical and can make or break you. You have to step up your game. Think it's not possible? See my girl, Chaka's, AOL Live performance "Will You Love Me?" Even when you're already the BEST, you can always, ALWAYS step up your game. Give me a Chaka ringtone anytime!

  • ...what I meant by my comment was that the reason I want to hear somebody like Glenn live is because of things like this, the man takes his chances vocally pushing it to the limits. And yeah they'll be some bad notes but for me that's the game, Soul music is genre where u have to pour everything out

In short, yes I'll pay even double money to see that performance live.

  • Fair enough. I wanted to hear Glenn live too before I heard this performance and a few other live performances, which didn't hit me well. I highly understand and respect your opinion of this performance, though.

  • Oops, sorry I said Charlie twice. :-) You're right bigo2k, he did "kill" it--literally. Music can be quite subjective, but all loyalties aside, when you start to perpetuate the truth about how singers really rate "live", you contribute to their speedy demise (i.e., Whitney?). Say what they NEED, not what they want to hear. I'm really not a hater, Glenn. I do love your voice. With your musical talents and background, I sincerely hope you understand my comments. They are not meant to be hateful.

  • I understand your comment and respect your opinion, but u need to understand that some people wouldnt judge this perf like u did, some people would even tell u he shoulda done more riffs...

  • I merely pointed out the distractions (via bad notes & over-singing). I'm not a singing teacher, but I know singing when I hear it. Brian McKnight? Major riffs and all - GOLD. Bad notes are a BIG distraction. I am a fan. I bought Glenn's album. You're asking people to pay money for this.

  • What I emphasized was BALANCE -- not ELIMINATING the riffs. Stevie, Charlie, Brian, Jodeci, Charlie, etc. all know how to present a song, riffs & all (i.e., search Jodeci LIVE & click first song). Once again, I think Glenn has a beautiful voice. I am sure he would agree if he reviews this performance. If you can't do all those riffs w/o the qty of bad notes, you need balance. I am a fan of Glenn's, but I wouldn't pay money to hear this live. My opinion. That's all.

  • I understand that you may be a singing teacher or something but don't speak like Glenn perf was a disaster, some people are actually dying for things like this. You want to see the singer improvise, showcase, show range, give you something that's not in the original version, sometimes let your feelings take you away, it helps us get closer to the artist in a sense. Even if some flaws are exposed. And it this case I don't even think you can call that flaws.

  • Please listen to this performance again. Maybe a bad night/turn-out for him. But this kind of performance is NOT going to take him to the next level. Have heard many live performances by the artist formerly known as Prince doing all that you mentioned. I don't think I heard ONE bad note in even an extended 12-minute performance. No shying away from falsetto, tearing up riffs. TOTAL control. Perfect notes. Will get my dollars every time. My goal is constructive -- not to CRITICIZE.

  • Glad we are discussing this. :) I couldn't wait to hear this performance and was highly let down. Floetry? This I know for sure. Glenn can pull in the chicks with his looks and that voice. But if he listens to only 1/4 of what I've said and takes this song and re-works it back to the original essence to really showcase himself and "serenade" the audience (Luther-style), both men & women will line up for blocks just to hear this song. I would. "And that's ALL I've got to say about that." :-)

  • Ok I'll stop the discussion because we can go on and on, we discussing tastes here, I'm listening to this performance everyday and I like it, I know a lot about music, I'm a producer myself so I know what I'm talking about. Stop speaking like your opinion is general. You don't like it fine, he can take a bit of what you saying maybe but let the artist be, he's done it for a while, he knows what he's doing, his father and mother has done it

  • Fair enough.

  • For those who do not want too many riff stick to ringtones!!!

we grew up to stevie wonder, charlie wilson, aaron hall, brian Mcknight, silk , jodeci so there is no such thing as over singin to us we love it just like it is.

  • Forget what they say, you killed it, do those riffs, people who don't want it, go listen to the CD version or to a t-pain song, this is a real live performance, it sets you apart from all this autotune Singers.Making those riffs is how RnB started, people today know nothing about that. Do that Stevie Wonder/Charlie Wilson type of thing. Continue to make those Riffs Glenn, this ain't pop music.

  • This song got you your 15 mins. Less is more. Balance your riffs. Over-singing kills a song. Subtlety is powerful (i.e., Robin Thicke or Maxwell 'live'). You have nothing to prove. You know you can sing. Hope you consider this. - A fan. :-)

  • I do LOVE your voice, but you way "over-sang" this (imo). Points :55, 1:39, 2:25, 2:45, 3:15, 3:26, 3:45, etc.? Terrible notes because you over-sang. You lost me at the 2nd verse AND the essence of this beautiful song. Where's the falsetto? By 2:45 you were yelling at me.
