I was just 9 years old when I finally get to meet & see Benji and his owner/trainer Frank Inn in San Jose, Ca! They where giving out Benji's pictures & autographs & I was SO HAPPY to have one. That was the HAPPIEST time of my life!!

I watched this movie when I was a child. I started crying when the little girl did, when the father wouldn't let the children keep Benji, then when Tiffany, that cute little Maltie was kicked and all through the part where Benji ran to the childrens house. I loved this movie, why is it not on You Tube?

@smorriskc I am SO sorry about your dog): I had a cat that had to be put to sleep, he had cancer and was suffering, he couldn't eat, or sleep, and toward the end couldn't go to the bathroom. He was eighteen years old.

There are five Benji films out and out of them all, the first and second, starring Higgins (the first movie) and Benjean (the second movie) are my favorite of the lot.

The third one, Oh Heavenly Dog was a major step in the wrong direction, the fourth: Benji The Hunted was very good but lacked the punch of the first two films.

Benji Off The Leash is good in it's own way, but I dislike the dog who played Benji (the third Benji now) and some aspects of the film seemed odd.

Oh yeah, my ranking of the dog actors of Benji are tied between Higgins and Benjean as the best, with the most recent Benji as the worst.

Also, just so you all know, Higgins, a male Benji was only on the original Benji (died the next year), so his daughter Benjean replaced him on For The Love Of Benji and continued through to Benji The Hunted, while appearing on Benji specials along with Tv shows.

The new Benji, a female only starred in Off The Leash.

the original tiffany died the next year as well. Benjis daughter was bron in 77 and died in 88

4.Peter Breck "Dr. Chapman" is still alive

5.Allen Fiuzat and Cynthia Smith "paul and cindy " are still alive. early 40's

6.Chris Conelly is dead

Most Wal-Mart stores have a Benji 4-movie collection DVD for 5 dollars in their DVD bargain bins...which includes the original Benji, For the Love of Benji, the Christmas special, and Off the Leash. I just got it yesterday ^_^
