Malamutes are one of the oldest breeds on this planet dating back 20,000 yrs , they have not changed in breed all that much in all that time and worked alongside humans as a joint means of survival of the harshest of conditions, training a Mally is different to training other dogs, their behaviour is different as Mallys are independent by nature, love puzzles and a lot of diversity

Please don't put your own human fears and anxieties on a breed that many humans just do not understand, they talk

You guys are really stupid if you think that the animal does not like the noise. I had a puppy with a chewtoy like that, and she would go pick it up and chew on it more then any of her other toys because of the noise it made, when she really got that thing going she would start howling, almost singing along with it. So don't tell me the animal does not like the noise, if he didn't like it he would bite at it to stop it, or walk away.

@angelusizbadd I know. I have 3 =D. You need to put him on a better diet. Does he get much exercise. And you are probably over feeding him. You need to make sure he is getting the right amount. you can check the back of your feed lable for instructions and reduce that by 10% (most lables have you over feed by a small amount). If he is a active dog saying you run with him or walk him 1-2 miles every other day you can feed him that extra 10%.

my cooteley monster used to howl like that too. he was a white wolf malamute. when the coyotls yipped he would let out these long low howls with guttural sounds. he was a big baby and i miss him. sure was a good friend, easy to live with, clean, smart, loving, and great to play with. i doubt there's a better mix than wolf malamute. they're so similar it just seems right
