  • This song is one of many really great numbers on the LP “Julie Is Her Name.” Apart from her gorgeous voice, a new microphone technology was used that allowed a natural breathiness. The accompaniment was by Barny Kessel on guitar was also novel for the time. What a perfect match. One of my all time favorites.

  • Julie London's voice winds me up like Virginai Mayo's looks.

  • My mom made a 78 rpm record of this song...Oh how I knew where it went...We listened to it every thurs...lovely memories.....

  • this is great , thanks for posting, I agree with comments from LifeIsTheGreatest , this is magical, what a voice...

  • I love this!

  • So beautiful song..

  • For me, this is the best version of the song that I have been able to find. It is what is not there: a booming voice or a booming brass instrument. The singing is not forced. It is soft and smooth. That is what I believe this song is all about. None of the other singers get that or they don't have the life experience/maturity to pull it off. Thanks for uploading tomcat.

  • Relaxing, easy listening, pure melody, husky

  • This was from Julie London's album "Julie is Her Name, volueme 2". It came out in 1958. Howard Roberts on guitar, Red Mitchell on bass. This and her first LP, "Julie is Her Name" are amazing recordings for the time, with her cool and sexy voice set to the extreme minimalist backing of just guitar and bass. She really had guts, to produce something like this when everyone else was using full orchestras. I love it! Thanks so much for posting it. These LPs have been reissued in CD format.

  • absolutely beautiful

  • She is my queen ;3 Love her voice <3

  • This was recorded in 1958...Ray Leatherwood on bass..Barney Kessel on guitar...

  • Sua interpretação é suave e bonita mas a melhor ainda é do Elvis Presley

  • what a gal !

  • lovely song :)

  • wht a devine voice

  • Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

  • absolutely lovely... ! Nothing can compare to this today...

    many thanks for posting!

  • What a hottie. Nice understated performance here. It is a welcome contrast to the 'beat you over the head crap that listeners have to wade through in today's "popular music" market.

    Three cheers for subtlety.

  • The best song of all time, thanks for sharing.

  • A fav of me, she sings again so seductive, this former tv nurse...:-)

  • Certainly the first time I ever thought this song was sexy. A voice that turns grown men to jello. Plus some very tasty guitar.

  • I love this song...especially in SINATRA'S version...Julie's version is great too... for me she is the most seductive female singer in genre Jazz...thank you for post very much!

  • i am 24 and i love this song and her voice is amazing !!!! i want to sing this to my husband everyday !!!

  • Eargasm.. I see this world a fair bit now but really, London's tone, sound, feel... just gives me, in this instance 2:32 minutes of it.

  • can anyone say which key is this in?

  • @vivianerojas I think its in A.

  • thanks for your comments

i will try and find out who accompend Julie London on this song and get back to you

once again thanks for your comments

    TC

  • @tomcat1234beale Howard Roberts - Guitar, Red Mitchell - Bass. It's in the "Julie is her name" LP :)

  • @tomcat1234beale Vol II, by the way, because in volume I it's Barney Kessel - Gutar and Ray Leatherwood - Bass

  • My recollection was that her guitar accompaniest was Barney Kessel.

    Sure sounds like him

  • many thanks for your comments

you could well be right about Howard Roberts

    once again thanks

    TC

  • Very possible that the guitarist was Howard Roberts...he had made some recordings with her, and the tone is reminiscent of his...i cannot say for sure, but a google search may shed some light...but i wouldn't be surprised if it was him...

  • wow..!! i think this is better than diane.

  • I had a week full of stress and running around in a permanent rush...this makes me feel well, warm and lets me chill out at last! Thx for uploading it helps :D

  • They dont make them like this anymore. Her voice is so sensual and sophisticated. Does anyone know who the guitarist is?

  • This has gotta be my favorite version. The music is so clear and perfect, and her voice is really soft. I've never heard of her before (I'm young so forgive me lol) until I read about her on a blog and checked her music out.

  • If you like this version check out Diane Shaw's version of Blue Moon it's Outstanding.

  • Wow love this version. Thanks for uploading. Reminds me of my mom singing it years ago. She was a beauty pageant contestant in her younger days. 2nd runner up Miss Panama "Piel Canela" competition and she sang for her talent portion of the competions. I love how feminine and classy the woman of that period looked. So glamous. Nice to see.
