Axl still has his voice if not better. But, the best version by GNR is either with the original line up (Appetite for Distruction) or The Use your Illusion line up. You just have to listen to the guitar parts and you will see that Slash is the better guitar player for this song then the current guy is.

@rebalgemini From what I have heard Axl Rose would show up late for shows or just cancel them for no reason. He was an asshole to the band members and what not. At the height of the bands carear Axl was just very hard to work with. Eventually the rest of the band just left.

Now Slash was asked on That metal show what will happen when GNR gets into the Rock N Roll hall of fame. He said he is not sure.

I like how everybody is disucssing Slash and Axl Rose. Nobody is mentioning Izzy Stradlin, the guy who was most responsible for dictating the Guns sound we all knew and loved. Axl is the voice, but without a great guitarist, bassist and drummer to complement the guitarist his songs will not be great. It is well documented that slash needs good songwriters like Izzy and Axl otherwise he churns out mediocrity. There's no denying Axl and Slash were great, but please give Izzy Stradlin credit.

GNR is still GNR doesnt matter still great music. to tell the truth im not a fan of Chinese Democracy, and i do like the old sound of GNR alot better than the new one mainly cuz it had a bluesy tone to it. VR was a bad choice but had some good songs. slash, duff & steven never "made" GNR- they werent even original members.

Axl made GNR with Izzy, rob gardner, tracii guns & ole beich. slash, duff & steven were replacements.cold hard facts.

GNR changed members constantly. steven was booted with slash's consent in 1990.slash called him a "grovelling heap of defeatism" & the romanticized myth that you worship ended right there. denying reality doesnt change anything.

GNR lived on with different members & lives on today. Axl is the anchor.
