She captured Russian intensity in her intonation....her diction is not too bad for her being Italian and so is Flemings' being American....what a beautiful couple they make. He has a good taste.

I like her rendition more than Fleming's and her Russian diction is much better.

Is this production from Le théâtre du Châtelet (Paris) where I saw Yevgeny Onegin with Shicoff/Focile/Hvorostovsky ? What has she become ? I liked her !

I dont know, personally I think heavier voices always have to struggle with the final scene because its so low and you have to survive throughout the middle part on half breaths. I personally think that many roles which are today sung by mezzo sopranos, or who would have been classified as mezzos in the past, were written for the lighter version of soprano. But perhaps its more a technical issue. Not many sopranos today have that developed lower register that Tanya demands!

Her voice is nice but little too light for this opera. You need a full lyric for Tatyana. I bet she could do Violetta nicely. Dmitri is the Onegin of our time.
