  • The last one is a good knife, but Piranha Excalibur i Much cooler.I got them boath.

  • knowing these are what they are, good job on the vids!

  • You could take one of these knives apart, extend it and you would have a working Assassin's Creed hidden blade!!!! :)

  • @crazymouse1357

    Awesome idea!

  • @xiuxiu1313

might be a good project for me and some mates

  • Where did you bot it? Plz Rply

  • @BlueSuperman1234

    aliexpress or priceangels

  • If the OTF knives weren't cool enough, he threw in a Mitch Hedberg reference in there too at 7:08 "I like escalators because they can never break, they can only become stairs. Sorry for the convenience... that you can still... get up there" :-) Gotta love him, RIP Mitch

  • @PharmDoc83

    Glad you caught that!

  • each to their own beats random ppl h8ingcommentsiddonnt rememberposting

  • Y do Americans have to pronounce aluminium wrong and oragano its al-you-min-yum

  • @UmaraiL

Not wrong. Just different. Perfectly correct here

  • When I get into knife making. I'm so naming two knives the Typhoon Super Dragon and the Kickboxer Deluxe.

  • @Jallandhara

    LMAO!

  • Can u send me THE link?

  • @xiuxiu1313 I was wondering if you could tell me where you bought this and how much you paid? Not the two lightings but the black one.. It looks nice.

  • i have a microtech combat troodon, i also have a boker ak-74 and a chinese lightning. i dont depend on any knife to protect myself, if in danger, i'll pull out my legally carried glock 26, if you have to depend on a knife to save your life, somebody else will pull out a gun and shoot you to death.

  • @jroxx11211

    Well said sir!

  • can anyone tell me where to get a lightning in the uk?? If not, free shipping??

  • @xiuxiu1313-Gotcha, I was not aware they were illegal in your locale. And MicroTech OTF Troodon Combat dual edged half serrated model is as sturdy as ANY manual folder and SOG makes a sweet sturdy folder as does Spyderco's very limited run of their Chinook II which is a brend blade and in essence a pocket Bowie knife but they are very difficult to find. Manual folder's are fine as are well made automatic knives from ProTech/MicroTech as that is what you are paying for-dependable high quality.

  • @xiuxiu1313-Microtech's dual edged half serrated OTF Troodon Combat is anything but a novelty knife; in fact ANY Microtech/Pro-Tech/SOG product is far superior to the Chinese cheap knock off's you play with in your video.

  • @cu2mro

Oh absolutly. Defenently superior. My point, was that fore me, I am not willing to pay 400 dollars for a knife that is illegal for me to carry and is fundimentally (design wise) less sturdy than a manual folder. So If i'm buying a knife to pop in and out of the handle for shits and giggles, ill just pay the 30 for one of these.

  • Buy a Chinese made anything that was manufactured to replicate an American made product and you are just throwing your money away. Nike, Apple, etc utilize Chinese factories that they have quality control over and will stand behind their products. Microtech, Pro-Tech are American made with lifetime warranties! Save $40 10x and buy yourself a real OTF that will last a lifetime and be there when you need it most. You usually get what you pay for- as this video clearly shows.

  • @cu2mro

I have owned a real microtech, and I sold it. Too much money for what is esentially a novelty knife.

  • I absolutelly share you opinon, these are great toys to play with, but no real serious users. Too bad the branded OTF are that bad expensive, I would not pay that bunch for a real Microtech. Thanks for sharing with us man.

  • @xiuxiu1313 I got my lightning for 24.95

  • @CooLCarzAMERICA

    Great price man!

  • @CooLCarzAMERICA where'd you buy it?

  • @shawn4201111 uniqueblade(dot)com

  • Just put this comment for my own pleasure and in case you would find it interesting: very often, the western buyers push the eastern suppliers to lower prices by all means, so the westerners can make bigger profits............ from my experiences of being a middle man btw the two sides.

  • @RangerInStorm

    Thanks for the info!

  • how much were the lightning otf knives

  • @ohyahlinkinpark4life

Around 40 I believe (way overpriced)

  • i always thought these knives should be called 'out the top' instead of 'out the front' it just makes more sense. anyone else think so?

  • @unphazed123

Lol. Actually, yeah. That does make more sense. Never thought of that.

  • lool bin ein luder

  • I'm about to buy two OTF autos. kinda thinkin twice because I can never really carry them. although I need a few for my collection. what make, and or model, are the best?

  • @exodustormz

If price isn't a question, Microtech is the way to go. The ultratech or Troodon (not combat Troodon) is a great EDC size. If you still want quality but a more reasonable price, Ashville steel (Paragon) makes great single action OTF's of hight quality for a great price.

  • thats sad... i bought a smith and wesson hrt otf for 32 + 5 shipping. better kife for less

  • @MegaKevin96

Why is that better? It's not an automatic, and it's not double action. And it's made in Taiwan instead of China. It's just a single action spring assist no where near the comlexity of a D/A auto

  • otfs are illegal in my state but the folding automatics are legal id the blade is under 3.5 inches :\

  • I have collected autos for years never had any problems with the lightning you just have to keep them clean and oiled but if you want great quality otf clones try( knife 911) where do you think key west gets his knock offs check out the prices i have the whole micro tech otf clone collection and saved about a 1000 bucks and yes i also have some real micro tech not much difference in quality i love micro tech but they are extremely over priced in my opinion. check out this site.

  • can you tell us where you got these/what site you got them from?

  • @point7zero7

The lightnings from bladeplay, and the other one from keywestknifeworks. Both are websites.

  • virginia

  • @monsterdrinkman09 my thoughts exactly

  • i want one! great vid!

  • i fell asleep watching this

  • in my state there illegal

  • @monsterdrinkman09

    Bummer!

  • @monsterdrinkman09 In just about every state they're illegal...

  • @monsterdrinkman09 what state is that?

  • @monsterdrinkman09 meh buy one anyway.i live in virginia and they dont let us have them.

  • you talk alot

  • @alex007q

You wrote a three word comment.

  • @xiuxiu1313 yeah so... anyways i have a lightning knife and i agree that its mostly for show but it is a rough and tumble knife im not east on it i think i would go as far as to say i like it more than my microtech halo II because i like the DA better thats a longer comment for you

  • @alex007q I KNOW WHAT THE HELL ALL THESE KNIFE PEOPLE TALK WAYYY TOO MUCH

  • What about single action otfs Wats your oppinion

  • @michael987655678

Single actions fire harder and more reliably. Definently a better choice for practical use, however, there i snothing like playing with a D/A. Just plain cool!

  • excellent video

  • Listen dude, sincerely, if you think a Microtech would fail from a little bit of dirt, or even a lot of dirt, you're off your rocker. We are not soldiers climbing through sand dunes and muddy jungles, we are just people, walking around in regular clothes, in a mostly clean environment. People have HAMMERED high dollar OTF's through boards and logs and shit, and they do NOT fail like these knives here. You've made a conclusion about OTF's without handling a real deal OTF.

  • hmmmm I threw mine as hard as I could against marble and it just scraped off a bit of the metal case, knife still worked fine after re extending the blade. Ill see how easy I can break it I guess

  • @xiuxiu1313 hey in the usa do have to have a permit to own a OTF knife.

  • @WebSon11

It varies state by state. Some states they are illegal, some states they are legal of a certain blade size. My state they are legal to own, illegal to carry.

  • so wat the best one i looking to buy one

  • Expensive OTF's have nowhere even remotely near that kind of play, and are totally practical for every day carry. I know a few guys who have carried MT UT's for years now, and they've never failed once. My uncle has carried an AKC OTF for over 8 years now, and that's not even a super high quality OTF. It's never failed on him. CAN they fail? Sure, but only if you really neglect it, and nobody who loves knives would neglect something that much. Take care of it and it'll do just fine.

  • Are you sure your Lightnings are Chinese? If so, that's why yours are shit. The Taiwanese ones, in my experience, are decent. That being said, you'll never find an OTF without blade play. If you do, good luck trying to deploy it.

  • @inverseactuality

They are Taiwanese. The other is Chinese.

  • @inverseactuality i heard that too, the taiwan ones are better , do the blades not wobble at all on the taiwan ones? Cant seem to find the taiwan issue here in China though

  • @HOORVT

The blades wobble on all OTF knives because of their design. The Chinese lightnings tend to break very very easily though.

  • what kind is the last OTF you talked about? the exact model?

  • @coolhotbike

keywestknifeworks calls it the Delta Commando SoCom Elite Tactical OTF

  • This guy knows his shit.. WOW

Thanks for all the info. Learned alot from just one video / vs. watching and reading multiple things.

  • @slevinpolicy

    Thanks!

  • the lightnings r better when u get them from korea u got the shitty knock off one

    from china

  • haha liked the escalator comment.

  • type a and type 2 very nice

  • Always wanted one of those OTF's. Sadly, I live in one of those states in which even OWNING a knife with a spring in it will instantly transform me from a normal, tax-paying citizen into a dangerouis criminal. (brrr... gives me the shivers) Next thing you know, I guess I'd give up my day job, and be knocking over 7-11's or something. Purse snatcher, maybe?

Anyway... thanks for the close-up look, and analysis.

The cost of Microtech OTF's has me scratching my head, though.

    -Berk

  • @MumblinBerk

Oh man, get an OTF in your hand and who knows what trouble you would get into! They are like a hall pass to criminal activity LOL!

  • I just found out about this knife last night looking around. how do u like it?

The 1st one? I want a microtech llike everybody else but puttin out half a paycheck for one doesn't fit my budget so I thought the delta might be a good alternative. I looke d at Keywest knives and found the one you reviewed last, it says the blade is 440

  • @keem31

I like it a lot actually. I haven't ever actually handled a Microtech OTF, but I don't see how it could be much better, let alone five times the cost. Keywest is where I picked this one up, I couldn't think of the place when I made the vid as it has been a wile since I picked it up. And subscribers are always welcom (and wanted). Hint hint

  • Hey cool, I got that same red one:)
