The governement of India is investigating the Karmapa's administration for "money laundering", that is not all, he is being suspected to be a "chinese spy".

The Karmapa being such a well respected figure and very close to The Dalai Lama, it makes me wonder as how the tibetan leaders will be regarded by the Indian Authorities in the future when The Dalai Lama has passed away. I don't know what to make of this...

Offerings(of money) and Donations is a common practice. Many of the high monks have monasteries with 500 to more monks to feed and support. So Buddhists from around the world( who can afford to ) routinely offer small to large sums of money to buddhist organizations and monks.
