12Gs.... im not really believing that... they arent using pressure suits as far as i know and even the most badass military pilots are having a hard time doing pressure breathing at over 9Gs!
hes looking like hes just on the way to the bakery, getting breakfast.
@AllisterCaine Yes they do use G suits and have become a mandatory component since the 2009 season. Prior to that some people chose not too wear them. But hitting 12g's happens very infrequently and pilots are disqualified if they exceed. Often they spike at such high g's but don't sustain for any period of time. And i don't think you can bad mouth these guys in terms of body weight considering their age. I've seen a number of military pilot's who are hardly slim.
it came to me today while mowing the lawn, that they might hit the 12g, but only for a very short period of time, not sustained. id say sustaining 9g is a lot harder than taking 12g for one or two seconds.
you got me confused with the weight now... i just meant that he looks too much at ease when turning. :)
i once had to stand 4.5 g for about 5 seconds in a rollercoaster.. didn't notice anything but i could barely move my arms up, they nearly smashed to the seat^^
Can't wait to see the air race here over the Hudson river in Libery State Park in NJ! I saw them today doing practice runs. These guys are amazing at what they do!
G force is the "gravity" force. It's the number of times someone is feeling earths gravity (due to acceleration). 1 g is the normal gravity of the earth at two Gs you're feeling twice your weight and at 10 it's a challenge to remain awake.
To increase a G by acceleration you'd have to increase your speed by 22 miles an hour every second (I think) if you step on the gas to a car for a second and at the end of that second your going 22 mph you were being pulled backward equal to your weight.
yes but you have to see for how long. Was it 13 G for quater of a second or it lasted 5 seconds. By the way a fighter can pull even 15G if the pilot could handle them. But the speed of the plane and the intesity and duration of the Gs are extreem for humans.
oh it wasn't for more then a split second, it showed the G meter and it hauled ass past 10 then 11 and creeped into 13 then he quit i guess because he was disqualified.
its just crazy to exert that much additional force on your body, i mean at 13g's a 240lb man has to weigh something close to a elephant or rhino.
No way a fighter plane is taking 15G's to the dome with bombs and missiles still strapped to the wings. it seems like it has fail written all over it.
the effect of g force on red bull air race & how g force effects normal functions & using chest movements can help & how o2 conc loss can effect vision as well & upto 12 g is enough & how at 5g a driver behaves & 9.8 g response has been shown but imp thing for red bull air race drivers is to learn the effect of gravity & control heart function & breathing etc
Nah, being small is a good thing. Less distance between your heart and head. Being really tall and with a low cholesterol is a bad thing. A small person with high cholesterol can breeze through it =)
definitely its like wen u go over a slope on a roller coaster thats wat it feels like to pull negative g's but it gets a lot worse obviously...":P and at the same time ur fighting to keep the blood in the rest of ur body besides ur head :P
positive are easier in a normal plane, because it's wings provide force upwards and not downwards, and besides you have 1G of the Earths own gravity (1G - 1 times Earth gravity, or a 9,8m/s acceleration). Positive or Negative just differ from being the gravity to pull you down (positive Gs) or pull you up (negative Gs)
If the judges think that u have exceeded 10-12g they will pull you out the round and download the info from the g meters and if u have they disqualify you, if not they will let you keep the lap you have just done
They do have a remote G meter, but that's bullshit. You have no idea what you're on about poolshark. The bloody video just told you that 10g is what's pulled in a loop, and how are they meant to pull 11g in a knife edge pass? There's no bloody g minimum, but if you pull more g's and stay conscious you'll probably get more points for being tougher.
ive been watching the race on tv and it shows you how many g's the pilots are pulling. when they go up in a loop it sometimes says they pull up to 10.6 g's
Yea you'll redout with a lot less G's than with a blackout. You're putting MORE blood in your head when you go -G's vs. taking all the blood out as with +G's. You'd be looking at aneurysms with that amount of blood and pressure in your head.

I flew with some friends last week and pulled +5 and -2. Can't imagine +10 (my bud Sean Tucker pulls +12), but it was a blast. The 'hic' approach works great, but moving my neck at +5 gave me some nasty pains in the disks, so I held the neck stiff.
Most invigorating thing I have ever done. Take any opporunity to do this if ever offered. It is amazing.
Well, if you don't know someone well, yes. You can typically find places that will take you on a 30-minute flight for $500 or less. 30-mins is more than you can handle - trust me. The first 4g loop will knock you back something fierce if you are not used to it.

Hello guys. You guys in here talk of
12,13 and 15 Gs and you're talking of positive Gs. Negative Gs
(when blood tends to leave legs lower part instead leaving the head) are much harder to bear than positive ones.
Extreme positive Gs level begins from 7,
while already 2.5 negative Gs are a extreme level. If you drive your car at about 70mph on a
road bump you get 0.1 negative G while
a freestyle aerobatic pilot gets between 300 and 850 times more than that. So even up to 7 negative Gs.
