  • "Life is a fever in Israel?" Not real sure, but I can't find the full lyrics for it?

"Our life is just a fever?"

    I can't make it out....

  • well they are scousers from kirkby so were not all bad lol

  • now this takes me back to cindys nightclub ( st helens).

  • @Mr12sean34 Good days lol Cindys haha cool :)

  • My life is Justin Bieber?

  • @PrincessBluexx

Yeah if you're a fluoride head zombie.

  • this is in my top 10 songs of the 80s.a true classic in every sense.thanks Gary and Eddie for bringing us a superb song.

  • "(Our) life is (just) a fever, as real." Is that what they're really saying?

  • In the outro he seems to sing "Our life is Justin Bieber"? Ahead of their time...

  • brilliant modernist afro-pop new wave reggae rumination

  • listen to this band, I'm sure China Crisis must have influenced them.....empire of the sun.........'walking on a dream' great sound

  • @mykeydread i will give them a listen....thanks.

  • I'm personally not a fan of much else China Crisis recorded to be honest, but "African & White" is a bona fide classic - it sounds as great today as it did 30 years ago...

  • About the chorus i have found this "Life is a favour in Israel". About "In Israel" there is no doubt if you hear live version as watch?v=seAxjbFlpGE&feature=artist

  • @novortex best guess 'Life is a fever in Israel'

  • sure brings back memories!!..

  • wonderful tune by the great China Crisis!!!

  • bellissima .......

  • great bass line simple but catchy

  • Let's not fluff up this song for more than what it is......which is siiiiick!!

  • Not a huge hit but always great to hear it....so different.

  • mhendry - you're an idiot

  • @manicm24 Sousers ruling the world - We still do :O)

  • When scousers ruled the world ehh! Actually I could see the melodic hook on this being used by one of those US rappers.

  • this is the version i had in my ipod...

  • the most underrated band of the 80's, i saw them in NYC back in 84 and they open up for simple mind ,after they finish,80 percent of the crow left,it was funny because when they came out they saw and allmost empty house, the only reason why i stu there was because of her,my ex--that was one of the most greatest day of my life,to see that crapy overrated band, there look on there face was priceless.

  • just played the Virgin compilation from 1992, it's amazing how many brilliant tracks they wrote. I do love a GOOD POP SONG! This is their standout track, although the track "Hampton Beach" comes a close second.

  • Oh man, some SERIOUS memories flooding back now...I haven't heard this song SINCE I used to play it on CHRW in London, ON when it was actually released :))))

And the lyrics just come FLOODING back!!

  • So glad I found this song again. Lost it in some really old hard drive

  • Great music, but China Crisis were political pygmies; I remember seeing them in Glasgow (Howard Jones supported them!) and they spouted some standard lefty nonsense. Anyway, I always thought their lyrics were a bit naff and twee. Music was good though!!

  • @mhendry39 Well, you probably spout some standard right-wing claptrap yourself

  • @Lucher I don't believe we've met?

  • and life is just a fever ....!!!

  • fuck that does not feel like 5 minutes, it's that good

  • i want to be 23 in 1982 :(

  • @fuckamericanidiot i was 22 back then oh how i wish i was back in the eighties lol best music came from that era i still listen to it all now. although there is still some good music about today i still prefer the eighties stuff

  • Pure Class...

  • classic tune..love China Crisis.....come on the pool....

  • endless sunny days in the 80s happy times

  • Reminds me of Kirkby

  • Memories of the 80's indeed! For me, cruising along the main road into St Andrews in my mate's Vauxhall Cavalier just after finishing finals, with this music on and the wind blowing through the car windows and not a care in the world.

  • Epic, even today.

How can it not bring a smile to your face?

    Great groove.

  • this reminds me of cindys night club (st helens).

  • This still sounds so great today, musically and lyrically. Briliant song. Just proves that good music never dates.

  • ha dave reilly is my drum tutor!

    this is mental!

  • makes you realise how good the 80's music really was - this band were something else !

  • Difficult Shapes And Passive Rhythms (Some People Think It's Fun To Entertain) --- best debut album EVAH!

And that's coming from a Manc who rates the Stone Roses debut highly.

  • This is one of those songs that no matter how bad you felt , it always lifted your spirits. Loved this song. Have it on 12" vinyl in the loft among others!! Must invest in a record player and totally get lost in memories.

  • @TheJockmo I think if i ever got my hands on a record player i would never leave the house...i know how you feel...getting lost in the memories.

    : )

  • @pilatso Indeed,

  • The most brilliant debut track from a UK band in the early 80's, it still stands up as a great song today ...these guy's had honesty in their lyrics and fantastic melodies and that's all that matters in true heartfelt music.

  • scouse and proud!

  • the harrington bar liverpool early 80s.only people who went there will know what it means, lol

  • Kenfig - same age as me, I don't do any running but I still do all the drinking. Great band, best song ever.

    Onwards + Upwards

  • genius song. bad spellters?

  • My aunt LOVED this song when it came out.

She had an ear for the BEST stuff out there & this song was one of her favorites. I would hear it coming out of her room & see her in there in that kind of floating groove dance trance she get when she found some magic groove to groove in.

It's such a beautiful song. I eventually let myself join the floating groove. So sweet ! Usually when there is an awesome groove it feels muscle-y or tight, fast , etc. .There is something so gentle about this groove

  • what a precious memory...

  • @godhelpme2009-GREAT COMMENT I KNOW HOW SHE FELT-ONE OF MY FAV SONGS EVER-I MISS THE 80'S,WE HAD THE BEST MUSIC-SKA-NEW WAVE-PUNK-DISCO-ROCK-HOUSE-METAL-RAP WHEN IT WAS VERY GOOD NOW ALL THEY HAVE IT'S THAT BORING TECHNO CRAP,GOD BLESS THE 80'S.PEACE AND LOVE.

  • 1982 wasnt a big hit but it should of been , happy days!

  • why havn't I heard this in 25 years ?

    Stunningly simple and beautiful.

It's so long ago I can't even put any memories to it

    :-?

  • Sat at computer having an 80`s fest. Trying to remember what records are hiding in my loft and then finding them on here. These boys put out some good tunes.

  • If you find any you want to sell....give us a message, would you?

  • Thanks for the message. Have not been up the loft ladder yet. Dont fancy selling anything Yet thanks. I know there is an 80's treasure trove up there. Too many good memories to let go.

  • It's a delicious bassline. Our band had to split up because we became China Crisis while trying to become The Clash, Joy Division & The Stranglers - it just wouldn't do. Who'd have thought that the battle for supremacy between our influences would have yielded that result? Then again, The Sex Pistols were apparently big fans of The Carpenters, Abba & Mud. I don't know this for a fact. I just feel it must be true.

  • Watched an MTV prog a few weeks ago and Johnny Rotten said they borrowed / adapted the opening striff on Pretty Vacant from Abba's SOS.

  • Weird! Do you think Katie Melua is a big fan of Nirvana, Motorhead & The Violent Femmes. I reckon we'd have to hypnotise her to get her to admit it, but I just know it must be true.

  • Hello tadeuz30. Thank you for uploading this song.

Would you plsease upload the B-side song called "Be Suspicious" ? It is very important song for me but I can not find it anywhere.

I would appreciate if you kindly post it. regards.

  • I had to come play this because i couldn't get the bass out of my head. the drums are amazing too.

  • God! have just happened upon this. Reminds me of working in Newquay 1983. Great times. Dont feel too bad mysterywhylay. My tears are 45 years old.. Do you remember the Lotus Eaters? What was their tune called??

  • 1st picture of you?

  • The bass on this, people! Ohhhhhh my god.

  • c0ndorlegion = arse

  • Thanks for putting this up - brilliant stuff, takes me right back to 81 working nights in Liverpool - great times.

  • great song

  • Great song, great memories

  • "Life is a fever..Israel"

  • life is a fever and it's real - they love playing with different ways of singing words - pinched directly from steey dan

  • Such an awesome track.....27 years old but it's still timeless..thanx for posting this!

  • Life is a fever in what ????... can anybody tell me the rest of the lyrics. not in any lyric website...

  • I think the words are, " life is a fever that is real"

  • hmmm...not sure about that I've listened to it again and it sounds more like "life is a fever in which we hail"....if that makes any sense...this line always bugged me

  • Life is a fever in Isreal, yes l know it doesn't make sense to me either

  • Class indeed! This tune still has a unique appeal, so warm and evocative.....love it!!!

  • Class.

  • This brings me back to better times

  • Very underated band, glad their on the touring circuit again getting their rewards finally.
