Letterman has come across as condescending and douchey in his past interviews with Russell Brand and in this interview with Katie as well. I can understand that he might be tired of interviewing entertainers for 30+ years but no one is holding a gun to his head. Why not hang em up and pass the torch to someone a little less "cranky jaded old man" and a little more "playful light hearted late-night comic"? See Craig Ferguson, Kimmel or Conan for good-natured banter.
@Logic1916 I've seen the last 2 interviews that Dave has had with Brand and I saw nothing of condescending attitude from Dave's part. They actually laughed a lot and Maybe Dave though he was strange but who wouldn't. Letterman will never kiss anyone's ass for the sake of ratings or for people to like him, that is why he has succeeded for over 30 years and has become an icon. Ferguson is not funny, very annoying. Kimmel is boring and Conan is doing an immature version of Letterman in the 80's.
