  • The greatest opera by the greatest composer in history.

  • wow. just rounded out a set of 'metamorphosis' from 5 different sources, with this being the 6th. wow. i know this isn't from that set by name, but did you see 7:16? wow.

  • He is the greatest composer in modern times.

  • @renelibrary

    Agree.

  • even if glass' music isn't your thing, this is an extremely interesting documentary. The idea that people would throw eggs and yell in protest is remarkable given what's being played these days. It's sad how everything that's new and innovative has a period of rejection before being embraced.. But I think that things are changing at least as far as music goes, because we are now exposed to such diversity even in popular music that people are more used to adapting to new music

  • really interesting documentary, thank you for posting it. :)

  • I saw this stuff when I was 11 in '76. I've been hooked ever since.

A lot of my friends don't care for it preferring Judas priest and Whitesnake.

That's their loss because this stuff is truly transcendental. It can take you to another place outside of the prosaic quotidian world.

Thanks for posting, had not seen this since it was on terrestrial in the early '80s.

  • again,,,,,,, worth glassing/watching

  • just let your singer take a piss..........glass

  • Thanks for posting this.

  • Thank you for posting this I've not seen this since its 1st broadcast. Phil Glass has had such a wonderful influence on what I do.

    Best wishes.

  • Just watched all six parts. I love his music, and would love to see 'Einstein on the Beach' live. Thanks for posting.

  • Great stuff. Loving Glass' music

  • merci beaucoup for the posting of this documentary.

    ;)

    Excellent stuff.

There are many negative comments regarding Glass' music on youtube. Perhaps if those who speak negatively of Philip's music watched this documentary, they may, at least, understand it a little more (even if they still don't enjoy it).

  • Good point

  • what is the singer saying?

  • 1 2 3 4, 1 2 3, 1 2 3 4

and so on. You'll hear it often also in other parts of Einstein on the Beach.

  • Later on she'll continue with "La Do Mi Re Mi" and other terms from the Do Re Mi sequence (if not variations like Si or Me)

  • Wow. That piece is EXHAUSTING to listen to. I can only imagine what it is like to play! I felt myself tensing while they looked very relaxed. I think I saw that a new GLASS documentary is coming to theaters soon...

  • wow, that was really interesting! Thanks 4 posting, i must get my hands on that documentary...
