  • Would LOVE to know the cost (in USD) and the specs on that farm.

MSI SLI boards leave me scratching my head, though. i5 or i7? Gigabyte mATX might have been better/cheaper (unless they were donated, then they'd just be better!)

    COOL mod, though, guys!!!

  • good! DIY self

  • Vermoedde al dat jullie nederlands waren :P, Zeker nadat ik "Trekbandvuilniszakken " las :P

  • Now THERE's a serious piece of work! WOW! <8o

  • I want one of that!! with the blender cae

  • Wow, that is an awesome renderfarm.

  • why on earth did you put in in such a little case??? (make it two dossier cases or something)

  • That is quite the machine! The filing cabinet is a great idea. I must get some of those stickers for my farm.

You guys across the pond have it so easy when it comes to powering stuff like that. We basically have to unplug the clothes dryer to power anything that hungry here in the States.

  • I have to say...this is awesome dudes!!!

I run a small studio in spain, 3dsmax based, but i love blender and i use it as the perfect wingman of max.

This kind of renderfar is what i want to build, can you put some advice, videotutorial, or some info about materials and tools used to build it?

    One more time...GREAT WORK PEOPLE!!

    Cheers.

  • Oooohhhh so pretty :)

    Ton looks so happy!

  • EIZO使ってるね。

  • Super "home made" renderfarm for Durian Project! Really cool!!!

  • erg mooi gedaan, goed werk ! :)

  • omg .... i love you guys !!

  • got a hardon

  • Why didn't you guys try using a central power supply(with a failsafe, naturally) instead of stacking all those PSUs into the drawer?you could probably get away with 5 mobos, generated heat, and maybe asve a bit on the power bill?

  • thish ish fanshy! :D

  • i'd be good with that pizza :D

  • on, that is faptastic.

  • I ve made some renders my self and I never thoght you would need such a behemot to get the job done.

  • @michin1989 When some of the more interestig and relistic renders can take upwerds of 30 minuts per frame or more having a farm like this is great.

i use 3ds max myself havent had to render any large sets in a long time or complex anamations but i have done single frame seens that have taken a quadcore 90 minuts to spit out one frame befor

  • That is sick.

  • wow, cool renderfarm =D

  • Holy crap! Now thats a data cannon worth being scared of.

  • This hardware looks great :D

  • wanna have one too *.*

  • When I saw this I shat expensive electronics.

  • Cooool!

Ok, 4 boards (in every drawer?)... I should better say HOT! ;))

  • I see XBOX 360 "Intercoolers" on the back at 0:33.

  • where are the graphic cards???

  • @blenderCGartist

They probably couldn't get them to fit inside the drawer.

  • @blenderCGartist what for? It's a rendering cluster, doesn't really need to show anything on screen. Graphic cards would just use up power . Better leave them for the workstations

  • @TDOBrandano oh dident knew that thanks

  • @blenderCGartist You don't need a graphics card on those things.. Just a very basic OS and a program that runs it for you.. It'll render over the processor.. The graphics card is only useful for realtime graphics..

  • oh god, ton this is awesome :D

    blender rules XD

  • 3'40'' I love :-)

  • Awesome rack!

  • lol, i've watched this video 3-4 times now, and it's still totally awesome :)

  • 0:11 ton is a ladies man!

  • wow, i want one! :D

    GO DURIAN!

  • wow that must be realy powerful :-D how long would it take to bake a 200 resototion fluid simolation or a smoke animation? :-D :-D :-D

  • Now that's a pizza! I like it. Quite a work of art on its own. Only to make more art.

  • viva ton!

    viva blender!

  • 0:30 - you guys should have let nathan lift it up so when he drops it he can make a funny joke and everything will be alright.

3:46 and 4:02 - Ton acting like a little kid with a new toy robot. he will put blender logos on ever separate portion of the motherboard box. very cool stuff.

  • that's an awesome cover

  • I need some sticker too ^_^

It is nice to see how good you work as a team and this with fun by the work. Thats for me the spirit of blender, fun by workin ;) an this with amazing results

  • where do i get one of those blender stickers =o

  • @Darklink224 You should be able to get them from the official blender shop @ blender3d(dot)org/e-shop/default_becool.php

  • @generalj thanks!

  • Does it run Gentoo operating system? it would be cool since case color and Gentoo colors match..

  • yaaay lol

  • lol ton sounds a bit like a pervert...

  • What is with the ballons and stuff at 2:55 ? Somebody had a birthday? If so then the gifts must have looked like *** compared to that awesome "pizza".

  • I want one!

    Best pizza I've ever seen

  • Wow, that is really sweet!

  • That, is AWESOME!!! :D

  • Super Computer - Great! Happy Ton - Priceless! :]

  • omg that is soo cool. Some serious iron for the Blender Institute. Are all the drawers filled, or just the top one?

  • @l0gically

Says on the blog that the top draw is the only filled on so far, but the rest will be filled over the next few weeks :)

  • cool. how fast does it work?

  • Wooow... I mean wooow. Your "pizza" is so beautiful... Shodan would be pleased ;)

  • This is sweet! I wish the whole team many a productive processing cycles.
