@SexyTannedGuy I saw something even worse: a fox tormenting a baby blackbird to death! The fox tossed the bird around and even let it escape briefly. It was also being quite gentle with it, as if making sure it wouldn't die too quickly. At least this pelican wanted the pigeon for food. :(

However, it was discovered a few years ago that fish have a Central Nervous System like a lot of animals, and therefore do feel pain, fear etc. Fish are certainly more natural food for the pelican. This video says more about the state of the world's fish stocks than anything else.

A pet has traded its 'freedom' to keep you company and is therefor your responsibility to protect as it is family. The Pigeon and Pelican are both wild animals and predators will eat whatever prey they can. But seeing as you know better, could I suggest you take a trip to Kenya and get between a lion and the zebra, perhaps, your new age claptrap will convince it to turn vegan.

normally i wouldnt interfere except i imagin that this pelican is probably well fed on fish, bread and whatever else so it wouldnt have done any harm just to spook the pelican into letting the pigeon go, also i doubt it naturally survives on pigeon's considering this video was so odd it made it onto the news. its not bad to help a creature as long as your not hurting anything else which i dont think you would be here

@TheSpidercrabb4 I felt sorry for the pigeon but I wouldn't have interfered here. Pelicans are carnivores and aren't supposed to eat bread. I'm sure being eaten alive isn't fun for fish either. Thanks for not blaming the pelican for this. I blame the people in this video for laughing. :(
