Elephants are far too intelligent & social to be happy in a circus where they are routinely chained for up to 23 hours at a time & beaten with sharp metal-tipped "bullhooks", to perform. Are unnatural, silly tricks really worth all this animal abuse? I used to go to circuses with my family but can't go now, knowing what each dollar supports.
If you're against cruelty to wildlife, I implore you not to visit circuses like Ringling or Carson & Barnes, which have performing/traveling animals!

These elephants live a very special life...yes it is not their normal life but who are we to judge whether it is a rewarding life for them or not. They are very bright animals that may very well enjoy the stimulation, presuming they are well treated. Do you have evidence that these animals are abused by this circus or do you just assume that?
Err, animal lover? your the type of animal lover that love animals for what they give you. When these poor creatures have stopped entertaining morons, they will be chained up by the leg for the rest of the day. This is true slavery. Also think about how they are trained, and what will happen to them when they can no longer perform, Believe me, the circus won't have a retirement plan for them, they will be killed because they cost too much to keep.
@BvOBart the elephants are abused in the circus. they are forced to perform ridiculous tricks that they don't understand, and are not meant to do. If you love this beautiful animal as much as you say you do, you should want them to live free in their natural habitat, not be forced to perform. this is animal slavery, and you should not support it
@Animalrights10 Thats their tradition and the way they find money from foreigner . It's normal style forcing for elephant to get nice performance I think , like people train dolphin for the show . Of cos everyone wants leave them peace but if you so kind and let all the animals peace , One day may be A tiger will be in your toilet . ( Joking , yes U r right , shouldn't do that to those cute animals )
