@maureenOWW -- as a professional singer, I will tell that sometimes you need to life your arm(s) just to be able to open your ribcage a bit further to get the air in and under the tone you are making so it is a nice sound and in tune. Also, it is a natural response when you are "inside" the music and responding to it. Rather like audiences tapping their feet (my personal hate!)
