  • hard recoil

  • how much does it weigh because it don't look to heavy and looks like it can easily be shoulder fired

  • Sounds like a pretty high (over 1,000 rpm) rate of fire.

  • This looks like something that would be mounted on aircraft. Was it?

  • @135twilight Yeah, by the Germans as MG15. This was a licensed copy of it used by Japanese.

  • it's a wonder that the japs didnt use more of these guns instead of the woopecker or top loaded machine guns.

  • @maciverandy id say because of the costs, the type99 was a top loader and was cheaper to make and could be moved easier

  • Could this gun use a ammo-belt ? You know, belt feed ? It dosent sit well with me,that clever sure would break your bones if you came near it...And the aim,wtf is that ? Im going out on a limb hear, and state this weapon as not so good..

  • why did they use the type-99? sticks of ammo vs. that, i know what most would pick

  • isnt that a german drum mag?

  • Perfect for zombie killing thumbs up if you agree

  • isn't that made for shooting down aircraft

  • @orin010 i think it's made for stationary shooting, like most heavy machine guns.

  • could be fun on a clay pigeon shoot

  • the japanese made a huge mistake by connecting the charging handle directly to the bolt rather than adding a bold carrier.

  • did this originally use a beta style magazine?

  • Wow, that thing looks like it's a pain in the ass to aim.

  • Some old Marines are probably freaking out at hearing this video...

  • @wohanable nope it's just pisses 'em off. now the mg42, that's a different story

  • @wohanable

Or British Spitfire/Hurricane survivors of the Battle of Britain. ;)

  • @FredDude27 Lol i doubt it, HE-111 and stuka gunners barely managed to hit spitfires and hurricanes

  • @wohanable Marines were in Pacific Theater, and there werent any mg34 or 42

  • Usually they put sandbags on its tripod, to make is nice and stable. Do it to any gun.

  • I want one

  • thats a Nice shooting weird designed gun for sure.

  • That is a really ideal design, very simple. I'm amazed that we never hear more about it. I'm sure old vets from the pacific theater could tell us lots of horror stories about trying to face down one of these beasts. Bad ass weapon right there !

  • I want one

  • mg34 ?

  • That thing kind of sounds like an MG-42. Even its ROF seems almost equally fast. But I doubt its accurate because I see a whole lot of recoil.

  • That cocking handle looks lethal to the user haha

  • @djeq721

I definetely wouldnt want to get my hand get hit by it!

  • I THINK YOU HAVE RECOIL!

  • deadly..

  • What kind of round does it take? or whats it similar too?

  • @TheAxeGrinder100 7.92x57mm mauser

  • dayum

  • dear Santa

  • Look at the kick on that! Coupled with the bumpiness of the plane in combat, how on earth did they hit anything

  • if my eyes were closed id have thought this was the mg-42 video

  • Is that the Beta C mag attached onto the machine gun?

  • @Temporal94 No it is a very similar concept used extensively on the MG15 and MG34 called the doppeltrommel.

  • Jeez, that beast makes an MG42 look slow.

  • @mrmactknife I would have to disagree and so would all the allied men who served in WW2. Any day I would rather go up against the type 98. The German military now use only a upgrade of the MG42 because it just douse not stop. With the MG42 you dont get a 2nd chance as most likely at some point this gun will run out of ammo , jam ( A lot of them did ) or it used to shake so much their are stories of it breaking it self apart!

  • that thing sounds mean as hell

  • MW2 ownage 0_0

  • sounds like the mg42

  • so inaccurate, even the sight's are shaking

  • Beast.

  • ...This may be the most phallic gun I have ever seen.

    Crazy Imperialists.

  • hell of a kick

  • Similer to MG42.

  • thats an impressive gun you got there and its looks so light and manuverble compared to the german gun or the english btw i really envy you to have all those fine looking pieces the only thing i got is flintlock gun and rifles from sweden and thats not even 1/10 the fun you guys seems to have =)

  • Didn't they call that gun the woodpecker in WWII?

  • @Proverbs1533 that was a different gun, does this sound like a woodpecker to you?

  • @Proverbs1533 That would be the infamous Japanese Type 92 7.7 mm Heavy machine gun. This is the Type 98 LMG which was a copy of the German MG-15. The Type 98 LMG has a faster ROF. The Japanese Type 92 Woodpecker was a larger version of the Type 3 Taisho LMG which in turn was based on the Hotchkiss machine gun. The Type 92 indeed made a sound that was nicknamed the woodpecker by Allied soldiers. Also the Type 92 has a lower ROF than the Type 98 - as it was gas operated whilst Type 98 was recoil

  • Wow!! It sounds like it carries the same rapid-fire as the German MG-42; wonder why the IJA did not gear it as a bipoded infantry squad weapon? I'm certain it would have been feared by American troops pretty much as the MG-42--the U.S. Army even had a film on how to counter this outstanding German weapon. Most of the Japanese weapons like the Type 96 LMG and the heavy Taisho Type 3 had low rates of fire. Intro of the Type 98 may have made a difference to a certain degree. Any opinions?

  • in what context are you permitted to use/have this kind of firepower??!?

  • The Japanese perfected the dog-fighter with the Zero early in the war...and forced the evolution of the Allied response. Weird can be good sometimes.

  • THE PATRIOT!

  • man teh japanese make some wird wepons but thats my opinion..... i dont know what im talking about

  • seems like the kick ruins accuracy even with the mount. Can't say i like it either.

  • is this "better" then the Mg 42 ? more pracise or faster or something u know?tank u

  • thats one mean fire rate

  • はやい・・・

  • cant say i like this gun

  • I wonder if standing up trying to fire this thing can in good conscience be recommended.

  • i prefer the German MG-42 Machine Gun, more intimidating faster

  • That tripod doesn't look like a very steady mount, do you think it would work better if it was mounted closer to the end of the barrel?

  • looks clumsy

  • awsome recoil. the way the barrel rips upward reminds me of the MP5 or Thompson submachineguns.

  • is that faster than the mg42

  • this gun looks like a toy

  • big recoil there~~

  • How rates of fire this MG, 1k..?

  • Do you have a sister can i marry her so we will be forced to become friends asnd then we can use these damn babies together!

  • @m14Lover308 7.92x57mm

  • I wounder why the Japnanese did'nt use this on the ground instead of the "wood pecker"

  • Too much recoil. Clearly the pivot point to which is holding the gun in place is too weak, or too few of them.

  • Imagin this in a zombie invasion;)

  • Big enough bolt on it xD

  • How good is the iron sight on that?

  • well, proves once again that German guns were better than Japanese guns during the war! That thing looks like it can barely handle the recoil, and the muzzle climb looks terrible. No wonder they had trouble hitting us! lol

  • @masterDevis yeah like the way you use "us"........and where were you in the war?

  • whats the RPM on this MG?

  • Was it possible to shoot it unmounted?

  • @TensionAirsoft Yes it is. You can attach a bipod to the front or you can shoot it standing up.

  • @TensionAirsoft maybe a muscle can do that...this gun is too long, an i'm think you can't move white shooting it's...

  • @TensionAirsoft looks like it has quite a bit of recoil on it..

  • Poor Americans have such a high rate of fire

  • Its easy to shoot a gun when the bullets aren't ripping through your happy emotionally balanced life

  • Lemme guess, there are more than 100 "type" guns? Ive heard of Type 99 and 100.

  • Where do you get all the obsolete ammo from??

  • @ximowilson Chambered in 7.92x57mm just like the German machine guns.

  • @C2builder This weapon looks very, VERY similar to a german MG42, with how the mag looks and rate of fire... only difference is that there is a magazine for each side it seems. I'm really just laughing, japs made mods to german guns- the type 99 lmg WAS a german smg converted into lmg, and type 100 converted from a german gun, am i correct on this?

  • @C2builder so its a $1 a round, lol

  • @ximowilson Mexico..

  • where did you get this from? amazing gun!

  • With a little bit of support from other countries the japs would have won the damn war with stuff like that!!

  • what im most impressed with is that you found ammo for the damned thing.

  • omg this looks like the mg15 lol. ill never understand why countries copy guns and call it their own though. like ak models. so many countries make it you cant tell a legit russian ak from other aks. to many variants lol

  • bad-!!!!

  • It looks like it's spraying water! :3

  • Powerful machinegun

  • It looks German to me , especially its barrel . Hell ! It's still looks cool though .

  • This is my first time seeing a Japanese weapon and it looks funny!!

  • I was looking at hypercube demonstration but this is OK too.

  • Looks similar to a WW2 German gun I saw that was used on their Bombers Heinkels Dorniers etc Japs copied lots European stuff, is that the MG15 you mentioned?

  • @wind4watts Yes, watch my other video on the MG15 & Type 98 issue. The T98 is exact part-for-part copy of the MG15 and was contracted by Japan from Germany.

  • @C2builder Oh... thats why he behaves like german MG42.

  • It may be able to rip people apart but you have to admit, ... it looks like crap :/

  • Is the weapons i see in your videos original from WW2?

  • @FlowPhille Yes, there are a few that are original in parts kit form that were rebuilt by me though.

  • i miss my home in japan

  • @sheldon176

no chance to visit it again?! :)

  • From this and your other video, it looks like this gun has a lot of kick, what's it like firing it?

  • @jadger1871 The recoil isn't as bad as it looks, the tripod it was mounted on is light and unsteady.

  • @C2builder I figured that had a lot to do with it, and the fact it is not held into the shoulder doesn't help either

  • how many rounds were fired during this video? Just curious. Also, what is the full rate?

    Thanks!

  • @AdinoEznite The saddle drum holds 75rds. The ROF is around 1000-1200rpm.

  • @C2builder

so it would be equal to the ROF of the MG-42 (1200 rpm)...

if the japanese had been more involved into the war i'm sure that the Type 98 had become nearly the same 'fame' like the MG-42.

  • @SeksGnom All the Axis and Allied countries increased thier aircraft guns rate of fire for better hit probability in the air. Even the Browning guns were faster than the ground versions. I doubt the T98 would ever have gained the reputation that the MG42 did.

  • @C2builder

Oh really ?! Never new that!

    Thanks for the info! (:

Yeah, not the same... but i'm pretty sure that it had been more known by the people.

The (most) japanese weapons weren't worth mentioning.

The discipline of the japanese soldiers instead was really worth mentioning!

    (In my opinion)

oh and.. sorry if my grammar isn't the best. just have basic knowledge from school :P

  • russian weaponry is the best

  • @nevadabboko Except Russian snipers, my opinion. The Ak-47 is a great weapon though.

  • Does firing from an open bolt mean a possible faster rate of fire? sorry if its a nooby question.

  • @9beckerful No. The bolt would only travel in it's cycle the same distance as if it was made to be closed bolt. Most belt fed or submachine guns use open bolts because those are fired in full automatic most of the time. An open bolt is used to prevent "cookoff" in hot chambers where a round might be kept inside by a closed bolt. Also helps to cool off the working parts as well, but results in a less accurate weapon because of the weight of the bolt slamming forward before the shot is fired.

  • dammit im filling my deer tags this year for sure!

  • And exactly how does a japanese type 98 aplly to police or law enforcment use? I mean come on mp5s ok m4 ok but a type 98.

  • How do you get your hands on all of these MGs???

  • japanese weapons at wwii doesn't look so amazing compared to the westerns, but japanese weapons are extremely genuine .

  • Jesus.. better keep your hand clear of the loader.. shit would lead to one baaaad day.

  • they could have used this in cod5 for the japs but they used uk guns

  • @legomatt2010 Its been a while but Im pretty sure they used a Type 99 LMG, which might make you think of a British Bren with the magazine feeding from the top.

  • lol

    i want :D

  • Pffffffft!!! What recoil are u talink about?

  • Japanese made shit weapons during WW2.

  • @darthspeaks Yeah, they did. They made a Handgun that could Fire all by itself. I saw it on Tales of the Gun, can't remember the name though.

  • @darthspeaks

I don't think the people being hit by those weapons thought they were shit :P

  • too much recoil ...........

  • Dear Santa...

  • i think the older gun are better then the new 1

  • i love that sound.

  • that dual drum magazine turns me on

  • MG34みたい (Looks like the German MG34)

  • @DekaVF it basically is. Japan took many design concept from thier axis ally, Germany.

  • Is it possible to have the company make a blank fire only type 98 for reenactment purposes?

  • @dragon3600000 Here in the USA even a blank-fire only MG is still classified as a MG and must be registered as a NFA item. Basically if it is or was once a real live firing MG then it stays one.

  • @C2builder God forbbid someone rob a bank with a Type 98 machine gun

  • @C2builder But if it built from scratch as a blank fireing only weapon, it is not even classified as a firearm. It is expecive to build one from scratch though. Correct me if I am wrong of course. You should know the laws better then I. I hate the paperwork and dealing with the BATFE, lol.

  • @Jesses001 OK if built from items or reciever that never was a working machine gun at one time. I thought you meant rewelding or reactivating one.

  • @C2builder its a shame... =[

  • looks like stolen from the german mg 42

  • Cool looking machine gun. No doubt it would have been used on a "Betty" or one of the several twin-engined naval bombers ow WWII.

  • THIS IS NICE

  • Wow. I can't believe that in USA you are allowed to buy stuff like this without any licenses or anything.

  • @GrrrIamMad well you have to get a backround check and pay a $200 tax stamp to buy a fully automatic firearm

  • @GrrrIamMad You need a special license to own any kind of machine gun. You have to be approved as either a firearms dealer or some sort of collector/law enforcement officer. After that, a thorough back ground check and personal approval must be granted. Finally, the official license is purchased. The guns and ammo are very expensive though so most people rent or borrow fully auto weapons at approved ranges under supervision.

  • how come all WW2 japanese either load in from the top or the side of the gun

  • the german mg42 is mutch better it goats the most kills in history thumbs up if you are german

  • @mr1game1and1wach I am german but im not proud the MG42 goaled most kills in history. Stupid idiot.. War is a fail of humanity and youre proud of it?

  • Dear santa. O.o

  • @MrCelebritylover Seriously? Before i saw this comment I was gonna put "I know what I'm getting for christmas" :D

  • This gun has a very unbalanced kick

  • i fired one of these :D in Medal of honor :D

  • How reliable was it in combat conditions?

  • @Puzzoozoo These were used mostly in aircraft so if they used them thoughout WW2 I would guess they liked thier performance. There was a German ground version that was water-cooled but I'm not sure how they performed.

  • @C2builder they were reliable enough but compared to the .50 used by US aircrews, it was a pea shooter with limited range causing much less damage than the .50. But I do believe it was one of the more reliable Japanese machine guns. Both German and Japanese bombers had serious deficiencies in defensive weapons. I think (not sure) the Betty had a 20MM tail gun as well as a couple of Type 98s in other positions.

  • what caliber?

  • @Gulz464 7.92x57mm

  • its doesn't rly look stable O.o not that i know much of Weapons xD

  • nice and simple design =)

  • sounds just like MG42

  • I saw the first

Thank you for your precious video!

Incidentally, my grandfather was a soldier of the Army

  • @Blacky89rf am 2nd sergeant -singapore air force
