i LOVE this song so much. It's such a great example of The Flaming Lips' signature sound. Totally happy, mildly trippy, but just pure existentialism. I'm glad it never made it onto an album, it keeps it like a treasure to me.

because, musically, it didn't fit into yoshimi. however, i find the mini epic that is 'assassination of the sun', 'i'm a fly in a sunbeam' and 'sunship balloons' to be great together. i'm glad that it was released as it was, with it's own artwork and imagery.
