@bandofredempion . it depends on what camera you have and the lighting conditions you are trying to zoom in. panasonic seem good for this on this camera but i have had other cameras that fail in the same conditions.
I have this camcorder AND LOVE IT! although I have turned off digital zoom. I have uploaded some video's of concerts + drifting which show's off its awesome zoom without The digital zoom.
Hope you don't mind me putting this on here @pautard69 purely to help people choose this awesome Camcorder that we both enjoy
I think you ought to make sure it's a class 6 SD card. I notice the difference in quality with lower classes with HD video. For the size, in Gigabytes it's as much as you want to pay for. It's OK to buy more SD cards in time, rather than a 16 or 32 GB card upfront - they click in and click out very easily - so when one with a lower capacity runs out, another one goes in very easily.
Excellent demonstration of the zoom feature of this camcorder. Thanks!
But i am now confused. On 30 May 2010 The Sunday Times (London) ran a review of a DIFFERENT Panasonic: HDC-TM55. It was chosen for the quality of its ZOOM feature. I wish I could see a comparison of the the two models. The one in the newspaper was priced at £400. Is it a 'less advanced' camcorder than this one?
@Bouncybon the only difference between the hdc-tm55 and the hdc-sd60 is that the tm55 has a built in hard drive as well as an sd card slot. the picture is identical and the zoom. thanks for comment.
Yay I see that boat all the time

Hi pautard69, great video & camcorder u have there. Just would like to ask u a few things with regards the Camcorder Panasonic HDC-SD60.
1. Was the OIS on or off when u were recording this?
2. Is the Optical Image Stabilization as good as Sony Optical Steadyshot?
3. If I burn the HD movie that is captured by SD60 to DVD, will I still able to playback by normal DVD Player(to HDTV) and still get the HD quality?
Thank you for sharing.

I got a important question before I'll buy this camera:
So in the box/pack of the camera, there is one battery for this camera,
= if you charge the battery 100%, how many minutes (+-) can you use this camera filming in 1920x1080 ?
Thanks!

@jumpinSteve filming time is about one and a half hours.

@lecochonbleu You can get 32gb class 10 cards on Amazon for under $55 now which should hold over 8 hours of full HD video.

First off: Excellent quality! Footage from this camera is practically identical to my Canon HG21
Secondly, I love how at 0:20, that guy looks over at the camera in sync with the music. Lol! :P
