Either way, a motor has to burn XX fuel with XX air to make XX power, so obviously with eight cylinders it's easier to burn enough fuel and air for 600 horsepower than four cylinders....and the v8 will be faster unless the 4 cylinder car is ALOT lighter. Torque makes up for extra weight in a muscle car, and a 4 cylinder with 600 horse has ALOT less torque than a v8 with 600 horse.
