Do I Have An Accent?

Technically everyone has an accent, even the person who said you have one :) If we speak the English language, then the only one without an accent is the queen. Some people used to be taught to speak exactly like her, that was called "received English" like old school BBC. But nowdays everyone has an accent, all the brits have one, australians, americans, canadians etc. We all have accents, and within our countries there are different ones.

As for regional American accents though, some are stronger than others, but I think everyone will have a regional accent too. There are obvious ones like deep south, new york (Noo yawwk!) and I like the Minnesotan accent too (it sounds cute). But even people who don't think they have one, do really, but it's probably just very subtle. But an accent is never something to be embarassed about or anything like that. They are all equal, and all have an interesting history.
