  • I had no idea he was British. I thought they were talking about the Yellow River out by

    Minnesota or Iowa.

  • I have to be blunt

The beautiful thing is that this song, back then, was part of my life.

How do you even put a value on that?

Now it's 40 years later. Same song; no band; no mics; I get it.

But just to hear it = priceless

  • I Remember this song when I was discharged from the army back in 1969

  • Support Hat Trick of Lions (Come on England) the new adaptation of Yellow River by Jeff Christie and help it become the unofficial World Cup anthem for the England football team!

  • raush raush go go

  • 老兵不死,只是凋零!!

  • He tried to get my mum's boots off in the 70!!!

  • UR FOOLIN THE PPL!!!!

  • WHWERE'S THE HAIR??????

  • I got my first car in 1970 or 71 and Yellow River by Christie was on the radio fairly often. I cranked the volume every time it came on and it has been my favorite ever since. I never heard any more about Christie after that, and only recently discovered (through a Facebook application) that Jeff Christie has continued with his music. I do wish he would come to Vancouver as I would love to see him live. I am delighted to have found more of his music - and a video of Christie doing Yellow Riv

  • Esta rola esta de poca madre.

  • Head 'n' shoulders above 99.9% of what passes for music today...

  • You got that right the music out of the late 50's to the early 70's was the best rock and roll ever produced and nothing can touch it!!!!!!!

  • Why a playback Jeff?

  • @indiodeoro because in Europe you just have to do playback when you are on tv. it's their game!

  • yep! back to the summer 1970.

both version - Yellow River / l'Amérique was released at the same time in may 1970.

  • When this song first played, I was driving to a civil service test and heard it on the car radio. I passed the test and for the next 30 years wore a blue uniform in New York. I retired in 2000 and moved to France where to my surprise and delight I heard the French version of the song, "L'Amérique" which instantly flung me back in time despite the French lyrics. Where does the time go?

  • hey mon ami. thank you for such a great posting. i was in prison when i first heard this in...1970? i am so glad that you remember this great record too. ps ,i was inside cos i was fighting with the police.

  • Well, he almost performed at the Route 66 festival last year to commemorate San Bernardino adopting Jeff's song as its anthem. At the moment, they're working on naming a street after him in recognition!

Jeff was recently interviewed on the syndicated radio program The Lost 45s, and snippets from the conversation continue to be played.

  • Wow if he ever gets to San Bernardino, which wasn't too far from my old home, please let us know. I'd like to see and hear him and Chip Hawkes!

  • I loved Jeff and this song for years, it's been one of my favorites. My only wish is to meet or see Jeff in person! Will you ever perform in the USA? Can't wait!!!

  • Grew up near Jeff in Moortown, Leeds, used to go watch his band 'The Outer Limits' play in Harehills and other Yorkshire towns, occasionally travelled in the back of their van to a club in Harrogate. Look out for 'One More Chance' on Deram records

  • cool

  • Never ages Jeff and neither does his songs - better than all the crap today.

  • absolutely fantastic!

  • I can remember when a saw this show on TV, I watched it only because of Jeff Christie.
