  • I'm fifty almost 51 now, I was 16 back then and in love with Ian. We all thought they were meant for us. He is immortal in film and still babyfaced gorgeous, brings back memories eh? Anywy, I hope that he is well and happy with his life as I am with my husband and family too. Yes I still have my Roller gear after all these years and will always be a fan forever. Would like to stay in occasional touch with all of you.

  • DEDICATION was their best album and Ian & Les's voices sounded great together. Does anyone know why Ian left/was forced out? IT'S A GAME was also a fine record, but DEDICATION had something special!!

  • @moonspinner55 My assumption back then was because he got "burned out " from all the fame and business, plus trying to work and getting your clothes torn off and being chased by loads of fans. Also no private relaxing life. Hope things are fine for him now after all these years.

  • Ian Mitchell is my uncle he is my mums brother

  • @juliehanna1975 . well tell you uncle, I swear he was staring ME in the eyes when he sang this song at a concert Helsinki Finland(I think I was about 12 years old then... he was my first "love"....this is probably the 1st time I listened to this song as an adult and it's still beautiful and Ian is just as gorgeous as I remember him....(now I bet even more handsome)

  • @juliehanna1975 Please tell your uncle that I sincerely apologize for all the strife he endured in that point of time. At thought of it, I feel that he probably had arrived to the point of having a nervous breakdown. Alot of us were infactuated with him under the socalled notion of shared true loveitis with him. That was a ton of pressure on him with no private time for himself friends or family. I wish him well, and family too.

  • Ian Mitchell is my uncle

  • Love Ian Mitchell when he was with the Rollers...I have seen him play in the last few years...as Ian Mitchell's Bay City Rollers...got the Rosetta Stone CD and he signed the back of my shirt!!!! What!!! Haha...omg, he is still so amazing and such a great person. Way to go Ian..and the rest of the guys, wherever you are. Loved them and love them all now.....

  • @debbievangilsfan --LOL! WTF? WRONG! I should know.

  • Great! and Ian Mitchell was just 17!

  • Ihana Ian ! Beikkarit oli joskus parasta ja edelleen vuosikymmenten jälkeen rakastan kuunnella näitä biisejä.

  • I always liked Eric the best

  • love ian! love this song .wish i could find rosetta stone records or cds if they make them again. lost mine in a flood a few years ago .lots of albums ill never find again!!!

  • @xenamtchb If you buy on Ebay, check it out for Rosetta Stone records or CD's. I sometimes see them on there. Or maybe it was Ian Mitchell Band?? Ian used to sell the RS stuff on CD on his website but his website has disappeared:(

  • omg Ian and Pat were the two sexiest guys alive in the 70s i was in love with both of them i was 13 when this song came out

  • As long as Derek was there, I was happy. He sparked a lifelong love of drummers in me!

  • i saw the bay city rollers in 1977 at the iowa state fair....my bedroom was covered in posters ... i love them and play them all the time for my girls ")

  • sorry to say but to the true BRITISH fans the USA KILLED THE ROLLERS its really great to see them performing all over our country this year........The Bay City Rollers belong to THE ENGLISH FANS !!!!! END OF

  • Ian Mitchell marked the demise of the Bay City Rollers in the UK the band was never the same again,THE bay city rollers WERE alan eric woody derek and Les as any true baycity roller fan would agree TRUE fans were heartbroken on April 2nd 1976 when we learned Alan had left the band,,,,,,,,,,,there days were numbered NO ONE COULD EVER REPLACE THE CHARMING TALENTED ALAN LONGMUIR LONG LIVE THE MEMORIES OF THE BAY CITY ROLLERS keep on rollin and dont let the music die xx

  • @katyantbcr To me, Ian marked the beginning of the BCR. I liked them before that, ever since they were shown on the Howard Cosell show in Sept 75 here but not nearly like I liked them after Ian joined. Never cared much for Alan and when Ian came in it only made them more popular here in the US. I was heartbroken when Ian quit, but grew to like Pat quickly only to be heartbroken again when they got rid of him. So then they were 4 & I still followed them because of Les & Woody.

  • @PaOsfan I agree with you. I liked the BCR before Ian joined the band, but after Ian became a part of the band, I followed them passionately. It thrilled me to see Ian come back later with Rosetta Stone and then with other bands. He's still a favorite to this day.

  • @PaOsfan im with you! loved ian and was sad to see him go only wish i could find rosetta stone records again! i lost them awhile ago .rollers and ian forever!!!!

  • @katyantbcr I have to agree with u here!! Alan was my 1st love and MY Bay City Rollers INCLUDED ALAN!!!! I don't mean to offend either Ian or Pat, but my heart will ALWAYS belong to the ever gorgeous ALAN LONGMUIR!!!! ( brother Derek is not far behind either!!) Ian and Pat fans, pls don't be mad at me but I always go with my heart!!! fr: FOREvERALANSGIRL.

  • I'm sorry, girls, but no one belts this out like Les. And I'm not a Les girl, either!

  • As a teen I was truly in love with Ian.

  • He was cute, but In the UK he was a bit fly-by-night [same as the other one Pat???] & plus we all still loved the gorgeous Alan Longmuir..

  • @thepinktent For me personally, I loved Ian. The Rollers were perfect with him. When he left, I was heartbroken, but soon grew to love Pat too. I never did care for Alan much.

  • @PaOsfan tit for tat!

  • I loved Ian. I loved the music first but when Ian came along, I found my Roller. I recall going to a concert of theirs in Poughkeepsie and my friend's father had just parked the car when some girl stuck her head in the window and said that Ian was there. I let out a scream like a banshee. When they played this in the concert and Les sang it I sobbed. It wasn't the same. I loved Ian. He will always be my Roller!

  • I tought I want to be Ian's wife when I was 12years old.

He looks soooo cute & lovely. It's remaind me How much do I love him long long ago

    ...

  • ian and les were my favs its so good to know that some of us remembers the best band there was i'm a true rollor fan

  • Other than my import LP which I still have, I can't any version of la belle jeane - I wish there was a video or something - ...BCR Forever!

  • does anyone know the name of the group or singer whom sang this song entitled 'dedication' either before the bay city rollers or after but most probably it was a hit song before the bay city rollers.i can't even seem to trace the other group or singer whom sang it before or sang it after.anybody have any clue???any guesses welcome as i have relentlessly researched but to no avail!

  • @TheGhostory

the band was called rogue, two of the members were flett and fletcher, who wrote the song. imo, the original sucks!

  • ian is angel face here

  • Ian is at least 50 and He looks great

  • gee dont see much of him how old was he then and now?

  • @purselady2 He was 18 here and will be 52 on Aug 22, 2010.

  • Eric was so dreamy! I just saw Les in Concert in Connecticut. Thank you for casinos!

  • Wow, this takes me back along time ago....Ian was my absolute favorite Bay City Roller...loved his innocense....there was something pure and simple of that era...

  • my 1st concert was 1977 Iowa State Fair ... THE BAY CITY ROLLERS ... my room was covered in THE BAY CITY ROLLERS :)

  • Ian was cute, but does anyone remember Les doing this song first? I wonder why there isn't a video of him performing this one?

  • @judygirl531 Ian did the song first. Then Les did it after Ian quit the group. I hated Les doing it because Ian is my favorite Roller.

  • @PaOsfan Actually, they both did the song when they were recording the Dedication album. Les sang lead on this song on the U.S. version of the album. Ian sang lead on the U.K. release (I had both versions). Never heard why they did it that way, they just did. Not complaining, I like both versions.

  • @Cheryl1166 Thank you for clearing that up. I liked both versions as well. I liked all the BCRs for various reasons. I can't pick one out and say that he was my favorite one. However, I'm still wondering if there is a video of Leslie doing this song?

  • @PaOsfan I have the US release and I have Ian's version on my album. I think I have the 45 of it and that is Les's version, released after Ian quit.

  • Ayeee there is my Ian mwa;-*

  • at the time, i was kinda sad alan had left- but seeing stuff now with ian, he looks so cute, he looks perfectly at home. shame it didn't work. the other one pat [??] can't even remeber seeing him perform with them. there was photie of him in the mags for a few months & then gone! But then the rollers disappeared & when they did come back it was it was sad because they were pretty much yesterdays heroes...we had all grown up-crikes, i was into the boomtown rats & generation x!!!!

  • Eric does have the sexiest bedroom eyes. mmmmm.....

  • To TheCathy165: Isn't that funny? My mother, too, thought I was having some sort of breakdown, as well, when Ian left the Rollers. I was sobbing so hysterically!! I was totally obsessed with him. He's a super nice guy. I've e-mailed with him and he's funny, friendly and down-to-earth. He didn't mind answering my questions that he's probably been asked 5 trillion times. A great guy and still cute to this day! :)

  • Poor Ian! I disliked him SO much because I had the feeling he kicked off Alan.

I love this song so much but suffered whe I heard it in these days.

When I read Les' book so many years later I felt ashamed for hating this poor guy when I was a girl :(

  • I loved this song...but Eric was my favorite. I just loved him! I was 16 and he was awesome!

  • most fans will think i am nuts, but i think eric looks better now than he did back then............of course i DO like older men lol

  • Les and Ian.....aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh....GOOSEBUMPS++++++++++++++!!!!!!!

  • Ian is just the most beautiful boy I've ever seen.

  • @1970sGirl AAAHHHH yes. I was so in love with him when I was 13 and cried like a baby when he left. But I managed, because Eric filled his shoes pretty easy. ;-) Not a bare wall in my bedroom with all the posters.

  • He replaced Alan. Eric is still with the band at this point on the left as we look at the screen.

  • Oh I know that...hell I was an expert on the Rollers. I was saying when Ian left Eric became my favorite. Eric was always a very close second to Ian to begin with. ;-)

  • Ok i was definatly not an expert. But i thought Ian was a replacement for Alan when he left. When Ian left did Alan come back or did they split or what. Just interested now.

  • Ian did replace Alan. Alan did return, but for a short time. They eventually got someone else...Pat. I never liked him.

  • @alanfacer When Ian left Pat came in briefly then Alan came back

  • @freebird112863 I agree about the posters But ERIC was always my fav

  • @KellieHorn13 I can say that Eric has aged very well. Still a good looking man.

  • I love listening to Ian. His accent is so sexy. I wonder if he still has it ?

  • FANTASTIC XXX

  • im comin home they say that ive changed

  • Eric was the reason i bought there first album from over seas from them way back before they hit America and i had to say Eric was the one that had it all the thighs the looks those damn eyes you wanted to take the man to bed that was my first thought but me i wanted to lick his thighs all night long

  • Go Irish!!!!

my favourite band as a teen. Caught a lot of crap for wearing my short pants with tartan around the bottom.....Royal Stewart and black McLeod. Only the Scottish and really true BCR fans know what I am saying:)

  • Bibi, I could not agree with you more......!!!

  • I have to admit....I had a serious crush on Les and Ian.....greedy I was.....I thought they were both so hot at the time....this video brings back lots of memories.....I loved Ian's accent...wow......hottttt!! Thx for the delicious memories.........funny enough I'm discovering now how beautiful Eric's eyes were.....doh!!!!!

  • Ian will always be my first love, but I had the same revelation this year....does Eric have some serious bedroom eyes or what! damn!

  • @ladybugginsbug

    Eric has always had IT!!!

  • @trevor40 Iso agree and he still has it NOW

  • I take it back! I like this video better than the other one here,why....in fact you see Les+Ian better here together! Got tears in my eyes when Les started to sing as 2nd voice with Ian.....This sounds so beautiful ....I would really LOVE to hear these 2 "lovelies" sing this now again!!!!

  • I loved woody then alan who is not here then les then ian then derek then duncan i still love this my longest playlist

  • Shame on me...I know!Roller-sisters... but does anyone of you remember who sang the high -notes in this song? Was it Les or was it Ian himself! I say this is still 1 of the most beautiful songs from a band and from the BCR! Ian was great and still sings great! Georgeous lad,he was Ian...mad though, that I didn't have eyes for him...Eric's to blame!LOL!! His eyes hypnotised me too much,I guess..hee hee..A shame we didn't see Eric or Les as well a little more here too in the video. But Ian?Great!!

  • Erics hair was pretty fab too!

  • les does the high notes ur refering to,i belive, but on the single les does all ians parts, but the l.p was ian doin it

  • lovin' all this Roller stuff from American TV. We missed out on so much here in the Uk from about 76. Stuff like Ian making chip butties is sooooooooo funny & fab! Its was such a wonderful time in my childhood. For about 3 years, I don't think I thought of anything else but the Rollers & which one I was going to marry!

  • I too loved the BCR as a young girl in the 80s. Back then I didnt know the reasons for the changes in the band members but I still enjoyed the music. I saw Ians BCR about three years ago and it was great fun to hear those songs live again I think he did a great job. There was a meet and great after and he was so nice. I am so glad that they are still making music after all these years. Love you guys! All of you!

  • Ian Mitchell was the love of my life when I was 11 or 12 yrs. old. My bedroom walls were covered with posters and pictures of him!!!! My mom thought I was having a nervous breakdown, especially when he left the band. I named my firstborn son after him. He is 18 now and gorgeous just like my Ian from the Bay City Rollers. Anyway I loved seeing this video.......I almost cried! Forever a BCR fan!!!!!!

  • @TheCathy165 Hi !What a lovely comment to read! Bet if Ian knew this he'd feel proud !

And for all Roller -Fans here who STILL don't know?

You know where to find your 'old' or new sisters?

    shang a lang.com!

    By the way,I think,as far as I remember,after being a Les-fan,

then Eric and back to my first love Les...I was an Eric-fan when Ian was there...

And I always thought he had 1 of the most beautiful faces as a man, I've ever seen!!

Anyway,it's so nice to see a devoted-Ian fan 4 once!

  • god,it's my fave song! now my best bud will know I, at 6, called Ian lickable! he and Les where just gorgeous looking guys!

  • so what-you were a very smart 6 year old-be proud of that!! and les and ian are still great-looking!!

  • oh I am! yes they are still great looking, I always wished the Rollers-all of them mind you, would

get back together just one more time where we all could see them on stage. bummer it never happened.

  • das ist dumm

  • I'm an fan of this band and Ilke the music. It's for me very good memories about this band. This number is one of my favorites. But this band siiiting in my hesrt

  • just to say to " ianslass" HES STILL AWESOME!!!!!

  • Tam. Love from Hell x

  • Les was a great front man-there's no denying that. Ian was cute-but not around long enough to really make much of an impression after Alan-who was so handsome! Eric had the most gorgeous eyes [still has!] Derek & Woody were really sweet too! Pat thingybob-i can't remember anything about him really.

Have to say this is totally amazing seeing all this Roller stuff. I feel like I'm 13 all over again! Makes me realise just how much they made an impression on me.

Or am I just getting old?

  • Ian or no Ian, Les WAS the Rollers!

  • Comment removed

  • I don't care what anybody says, the other Rollers fired Ian because they were jealous of him. Same thing with Pat McGlynn right after -

The Beatles fired Pete Best for the same reason.

  • Don't know about Pat, but Ian Mitchell has always maintained he couldn't cope with the pressure 24/7 of Rollermania etc.

  • Don't buy it. He may say that but Les in particular objected to Ian being put in the front of every picture and the others weren't pleased with their attention-getting newcomer either. They corrected the situation buy bringing Pat McGlynn in only to have the same thing happen again.

  • How do you know this? Never heard this before..

  • Where do you get this imfo? He was cute, but to be honest -its not like he was in the band long enough to give a damm. He's sooo not classic Roller line up.

  • I got the info from the liner notes of their Definitive Collection cd and from the episode of Behind The Music about them. I agree that Ian wasn't in the classic lineup - Alan was - but he was on the Dedication album, which was good. Also, Pat played on the It's A Game album but his picture and credits as guitarist and songwriter were removed when they fired him. Pat was sacked over the phone by Eric, who must've drawn the shortest straw at a band meeting.

  • Behind the music? Is this available to see?Anyone got it-possibly put it on youtube??? Man, i need a new Roller fix..

  • Mystifier! Every cd liner note i've read has had some sort of inacuracy about the Rollers-it drives me mad! The horses mouth is often the best bet!!!

  • Are you Eric? Woody?

  • saw behind music-can't remember such a claim..also ians wife denies any such conflict-check out ian making chip butties on dina shaw show-see comments!

  • Watch it again, Les says "We had this stranger in the band who was being put in the front of pictures and stuff like that". Les and the Rollers have performed with Ian again in later years though. There's a video on here of Les & Ian lip-synching to the original version of Bye Bye Baby, sometime in the 90's. Funny stuff. I did watch the Dinah vid, the conflict is whether they're chip butties or chip buddies.

  • Ya clutching at straws, even Ians wife says its all balloney.

  • Ian's wife? C'Mon. Ask Les, Eric, or Woody, or Tam.. I don't understand why most of you can't deal with the Ian thing. No straws here, only facts.

  • When Ian was asked to tour with Les, he was always great to Ian. And no, they no longer speak.

Alan was leaving, Ian was asked to join the Rollers.

What Les stated was true, Ian was a stranger, as anyone is in a new job. Ian was put in the front of photos because he was new. Not unusal.

I doubt that any of the guys were jealous of a new 17 yr old member that it caused a conflict. Conflict comes from egos and creativity, not because of a boy.

Chip butties. Ian still makes them.

  • The conflict came because the girls were screaming more for Ian than they were for the others. He was getting more attention -

Alan was fired because he was too old. Tam Paton may have been a horses ass but he was a good strategist.

  • Ok, well that's news to me and Ian. I knew Ian was popular...but weren't they all?

Again egos and creativity...not a 17 year old boy. lol Please, that would be pathetic!

Can't we just enjoy the group? I did and do...and for ME the classic line up was NEVER with Alan...mine was with Ian. To each his own.

  • Can't we just enjoy the group? Yes. I like them with Ian too, which is why I stick up for him, and for Pat. The Rollers in the 70's were great and always will be.

  • Alan was my 'classic' line up, but ian was soooo cute -I kinda got over it. Hope he felt welcomed by us UK fans? It was a funny time-the Rollers were beginning to disappear of our radar-Alan left, then off they went to the U.S. & that was it! When they came back to us a year or so later-everything had changed. Punk & disco had taken over..They looked lost.

  • If only! Those were the days-all we had to worry about was getting the roller gear right ,missing Shangalang on tv, not getting to see the boys on tour..I saw them in 76 when Dedication was out. It was just the most incredible night. Screamed for England! it was great to see Ian, the new Roller, but did miss Alan. To be fair, it was never the same after he left..Then they went off to America & we never saw them again...

  • gimmie an B

    gimmie an C

    gimmie an R

Bay City Rollers We Love You.....(sing) hee hee....still have my Tartan Outfit hee hee

  • I am so glad to see these videos--I loved the Bay City Rollers when I was a child!!!

  • I was 7 and totally in love for the first time - with Ian Mitchell! lol. This began my lifelong fascination with all things from the UK, so much so that I studied British literature and listened only to music from the UK. I even married a Brit. I know these guys are Scotsmen (and Ian is N. Irish), but the accent DID ME IN when I was in first grade and set me up for life. Bay City Rollers RULE! I LOVE this song!!!

  • you´ll never know how much I loved all of them ;-))))

  • I've been on Ian's website. What a nice guy he seems!

  • Wow...I was 10 years old when Ian joined the Rollers. This brings back so many memories. I've lost everything I had from that time, all the pictures I had of him on my walls. I've never forgotten though, 34 years later. He's like a childhood crush you can't forget. Thanks for posting. I probably saw that show.

  • Great back up vocals from Leslie. Good harmony. 2:15

  • @rgjd44 You are right!!

  • @rgjd44 You are sooo right! And Les looks hot in that blue shirt....yummy!

  • great filming the tv. these were the good times!!!!

  • My sweet cutie Ian!!!!

  • Thanks for sharing this PaOsfan, this song still brings tears.. ROLLERS Fan 4Ever...

  • oops!!! i meant to put a thumbs up!!!!!im soo sorry!!!! xx

  • I can still listen to this song after so many years...Ian was so cute!It was terrible he had to leave the Rollers.I have to agree that this song is AWESOME!!!!

  • i didnt realise ian mitchell was only a bay city roller for 7 months

  • Awesome song

  • Yes unfortunatly he was. Not quite sure why perhaps not enough money and add the stress of touring, young girls throwing themselves at him, seeing the world.LOL

  • Had I been in that audience, I don't think all the security in the world could have kept me from jumping up on that stage on Ian Mitchell. I love you Ian!!!!

  • Oh, what a babe! When he left the group, I used to listen to this song and cry (I was not quite 13).

  • Dreamy!! :-)

  • イアンを 見ることができて 幸せです 感謝です

  • セイコさんと同じ思いです^^ホントに!

  • I live this song, but I think it's better when Leslie sings the lead.

  • I love Les' voice - but I think this is and always will be Ian's song.. 'o)

  • But Leslie sang the lead on this song first, so I guess it would be his song.

  • No, Ian sang it first. Jimmy Ienner chose Ian because of his youthful voice. It is up to the listener who's version they like better, but this will always be Ian's song. :)

  • My cutie pie, Ian is a great singer!!! Love you, Ian!!!!

  • I didn't realize that my wedding anniversary was Ian's birthday..... I guess I had forgotten... because of course we all MEMORIZED their birthdays.... November 12, March 19..... etc...

  • Woody is my angel face! But I absolutely love this song and Ian's voice is like silk! This song still stands up after all these years--absoulutely fabulous!

  • he IS an angel face :)

i was going to marry him ya know, lol

still melts my heart after all these years

    great memories

50 years old !!!!! no way

  • I'm a couple of days late, but happy 50th birthday (Aug. 22) to our beautiful Ian !!! To me, he'll always be the angel faced 17 year old in this video ... alto he's still adorable today!

  • Ian was my favorite! And I had no idea he sang this song. Perhaps I did all those years ago, but if so, I'd forgotten. He is an angel face, isn't he? :)

  • Great song. The start of the rock ballad. I didn't know Ian Mitchell sang this song. I thought it was Les.

  • Ian Mitchell goes to my wife's church in Aliso Viejo. Small world :-)

  • I heard thyere making a movie.....In my mind i picture these acroturs....Daniel Radcliff as Les, Haley Joel Osement as Woody. James Spader as Tham. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • hey check out the roller fans.. cloudland. connection youtube

  • Ian was suppose to marry me!!! LOL ;)

  • He told me that too but said you didn't show up at the church, so I was second choice. ;)

  • ..."but my town car got stuck in traffic enroute to the church!" HA HA

That is WAY too funny!! LOL

What a great sense of humour!!!

All the best to you both! :)

  • wow....so ure ians wife?,,you lucky lady!!its great to look back at all thes vids....oh bring back the 70s!!! and tell ian to drop by on my myspace page,,,,,bolanbabe xxxx

  • I am his wife...and loving every minute of it!

  • Are you serious? OMG you are the envy of my life!!!!!!!!! I love Ian (still since the 70's)

  • OMG! How fabby. Is he still in contact with the rest of The Rollers? I love them so much. My fave was the Dedication album. Still till this day. If only we could go back to 75/76-it was such a special time.

  • I never really noticed how they looked I was so little but I do remember them why o why did he become a porn star as someone mentioned GROSS I looked up 2 them when I was a kid they were my world of course I was like 8
