  • WHY IS IT ONLY COUNTING MY VIEWS?! D:<

  • Devin Townsend just fucking kills this song. \m/

  • i just listen to the first 1:30 over and over and over...

  • The melody played on mandolin at the beginning and on fiddle in the rest of the song is just so perfect!

  • that ending is perfect

  • Very beautiful.. thank you for uploading this! Btw if you're into great metal (and rock) music in general check out my channel and the vids in my favourites!

  • Who are the 4 dislikes?

    ...People.

  • @Shnyarf *Losers.

  • Ken Hensley on Hammond organ, love this solo.

  • @fenixflyer91: well you see, even if you have the storyline that you suggested, everything is open to interpretation. in that sense, to me it seems like there is a poor link between Loser and the previous/next parts (I can sorta infer that his past is catching up and he is a totally "broken man" as it is shown in Day 17 though) and therefore even if we can come up with some explanation it seems somewhat flimsy to me.

  • @ProgressiveForest I totally agree with you. But I guess the idea for this song was just too good, even if it didn't fit completely into the rest of the album. I'm glad, Arjen left the song on the album. Otherwise we wouldn't be able to hear it. :)

  • This is kinda my least favorite among The Human Equation album. It's somewhat a fun listen, but it doesn't seem to fit the flow of the entire album.

  • @ProgressiveForest its the part where his drunken and abusive father comes to the main character while he's still in the coma, and the father's just tormenting the hell out of the dude, cause thats just the way he is. idk, maybe its a bit more of a back story to the main guy. Hellooooo character development!

  • FUNNY SOUND BUT THIS IS FUCKT UP GREAT WHO IS WITH ME

  • @xxxangelxxx1991 yeah dude!

  • Weirdest song i have ever heard. Same with the castle halls ayreon

  • this was the first song i ever heard of arjen when i first heard it i didn't like the keyboard solo but after hearing i.t.e.c i 3 years later i understead why it had the weird keyboard solo and now it's one of my favorate ayreon songs

  • Uriah Heep on Hammond organs!!!

  • This is THE.BEST.CD created, EVER. No ifs ands or buts about it. <3

  • Holy crap I first heard this song about four years ago and I had no idea it was on this album.

  • LOSER!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I LOVEEEEE IT

  • i danced around viking clothing while hearing this song, it was just so fantastic

  • Jeah, me too! It's like a riverdance song or something especially at the beginning!

The Human Equation is defenitly my fav cd of Ayreon (but maybe that's because James is on it ;P .. <3)

  • @zorn616 viking clothing and this music, it does not really fit, ...

  • @Hammetification That's what I thought, until the song really started. Makes me want to do that now. I do have my costume sitting there that I didn't put away yet...

  • @zorn616 LOL, I guess you mean you danced around IN viking clothing... The way you wrote it makes it even better, suggesting that you danced around your clothing completely naked. :D Anyway, tumbs up for you!

  • @KroxiGore07 LOL, I guess you mean THUMBS up for you... The way you wrote it makes it even better, suggesting you were giving him tumbs up instead of thumbs. :D Anyway, thumbs up for you!

  • @FrostSoldier Actually, that was exactly what I had intended, i.e. to give HIM thumbs up! ;-) I just liked the thought of naked people dancing around viking clothes. Okay, sometimes I have a strange sense of humor I guess. :D

  • Oops, now I got you... You're right! :-)

  • RiP, Mike

You did great on this album

Like all you've done your whole life..

  • yaah,zylelfskariranariza ADORE THIS SONG!!!

  • zúúzzzzz \m/

    <3 :)

  • There's another version of this song?

  • Not that I know of

  • K, ty for the upload.

  • there is the single version...

  • @eliasreyes There is, the single version has a different solo and such.

  • @eliasreyes

There is indeed another version. The Star One version.

  • yeah, theres the video version of this song. its slightly different

  • @LazyNutcracker There's the radio edit version.

  • @Chyouno LOSER!

  • @LazyNutcracker there is, the single version it's the version that has the most views when you search "loser ayreon" check out wikipedia for the differences

  • @LazyNutcracker Music video version.

  • @LazyNutcracker yes, for the actual videoclip of the song...its here on youtube

  • @LazyNutcracker: There is a second version - the "Star One" single. It's the version of the track you hear in the music video. The instrumental solo is different - Arjen duels with the keyboardist, and then the violonist chimes in.

  • @LazyNutcracker yeah, the Single version / VIdeo version, quite easy to find =]

  • Yes there is a shorter version (the version with a clip)

  • @LazyNutcracker The one I bought from iTunes (sounds exactly like the current one) and the one I've heard on youtube.com/watch?v=qtAhlPcdh9c seem to be very slightly different versions... I think they added an instrument in the linked one. O.o

  • @LazyNutcracker The single version, though signed Ayreon is actually played by Arjen's Star One.

  • @LazyNutcracker Yes. Star One, One of Arjen Luccasen's bands, has a slightly different version.

  • I am completely and utterly obsessed beyond all hope with The Human Equation, especially this song. I listen to it daily.

  • one of the best ayreon songs! but the human equation is a masterpiece as a whole art :XXXX

  • Of course! Love whole work done by Arjen, but "Human Equation" is a masterpiece concept album!

    Cheers from Poland, guys! \m/

  • haha this is interesting :-) i like how the melody in the beginning sounds all celtiic, and suddenly this rock voice starts singing

  • I love, I LOVE the way he says LOSER

  • whats the instrument in the beginning called?

  • I don't know how to spell it, but it's pronounced "Dij-err-ee-doo" Didgereedo? :P

  • Didgeridoo, an Australian instrument :)

  • awesome song. a great laugh as well.

  • don't like it then fuck off.

  • TOP OF THE TOPS

  • One of the most melodic songs ever!

  • yes, 5 stars

  • It's odd, cause most of the Shadow Gallery songs I've heard are pretty happy. Or at least have optimistic undertones.

  • That's part of the joke of this song:

    1. The song really doesn't make a whole lot of sense with the story

    2. Mike Baker is not suited at all for this part.

    3. The synth solo is completely random and over the top.

    3. It has the most ridiculous mixture of metal and folk ever.

And yet it's still totally awesome.

  • how does this not go with the story?

  • It goes with the story-It's just completely unnecessary. It doesn't actually move the story forward at all.

  • Well, it does make sense. Its his father coming by the hospital to make fun of him.

  • I know it makes sense. But is it necessary at all? No. We already know his dad's an asshole. It's totally unnecessary, which is why it's so hilarious.

This is one of my favorite songs on the album.

  • Well, he could've helped Rage get him out

  • Devin's part makes the song.

  • 5 estrellas!

  • 5 estrellas!

  • awesome song... love the drum part

  • great song

  • arjen lucassen is brilliant. this song is a masterpeice, please continue.

  • This makes me want to buy a lute just to play that opening.

  • its a diggerido or something like that

  • Lute=Guitar capoed on the third fret.

  • its amazing

  • is the singer mike baker ??

    if so hell yea!

  • Not quite sure who sang the "Father" part, but I know the last part, the part of "Anger" was sung by Devin Townsend, singer of Strapping Young Lad.

  • Yes, Mike Baker of Shadow Gallery played Father.

  • The ending is soooooo kick ass!!!

  • Devin Townsend \m/

  • excellent

  • GREAT MUSIC!!! :O

  • aww, you talking about yourself again?

Awesome song, my friend introduced me to Ayreon

  • I want this album, it sounds great.
