Native Americans no longer do human sacrfice. You white trash under other hand still commit human sacrafice even in MODERN TIMES. One example is Ander Breivik of Norway who was a blonde Nazi who killed his fellow blondes whith bombs and shootings in the name of god to protest Muslum culture. I saw those pictures of blonde women with blood all over them so let see who is the SAVAGES now!
Who cares if the Aztecs practiced human sacrifice? We have ample evidence that shows they were a savage and violent culture, but they had thousands of other fantastic achievements and were arguably the greatest civilization the America's has seen.
However, The fact that they were barbaric and savage in many ways doesn't make it alright that the Spanish came and destroyed their entire civilization, and then proceed to loot everything they could see and enslave the entire population.
@HiveFleetDerilect, many other cultures also performed human sacrifice. The Barbarians from Germania are an example of this, but they would make sure their victims suffered in the most horrible, agonizing way before dying in order to please their gods. Europeans in the Middle Ages used to fabricate cruel torture apparatuses, although this was not for human sacrifice and was often for punishment. Still, Europeans killed many in the name of God and for their lust of wealth and power.
@themanishere4 "Only people in Mexico who are academics are either Spanish descendants or Uncle Toms who lick the boots of the white supremacists" you're obviously really young.
@themanishere4 no, i'm not wrong, you know damn well you're just pulling this out of your ass, don't you? there's a video, for example, on this very site where a physician describes exactly how it could be done. but he's white, so he's part of the conspiracy right?
@themanishere4 As Germany was invaded, massacred by aerial bombing of the Allies in places like the firebombing of Dresden, and colonized by the imperialist "Allied powers" in that inter-imperialist war known as WWII. Also the Spanish Conquistadors and Europeans were the true barbarians and monsters as they burned alleged "witches", had Protestant-Catholic wars like the 100 years war, had slavery, had the torture of the Inquisition with all its absurd torture devices, gladiator battles, and on!
@themanishere4 but the Muslims have always been good and pure and their conquest of arabia and north africa and parts of europe were all peaceful right? no shit sherlock, tell me something i don't know about european barbarism. it's horrible because it was coupled with the technology to inflict suffering on a large scale. shall we talk about african, asian, amerindian, arab barbarism? humans can be despicable creatures, get off the bullshit "us vrs them" "good guys vrs bad guys" nonsense.
@themanishere4 of course, because the spanish needed to craft "excuses" for what they did..(wtf)? who did they have to convince? spanish nobility/the spanish crown? all they had to know was they mexicas weren't christian and had a shitload of gold and silver to justify any damn thing they wanted. and the church didn't need an excuse to carry out what it did at the time, who did they have to answer to about the inquisition? no consipiracy necessary, just gold and opportunity.
@ BillKiernan, jmb92555 & swinabc the took her hear out and show it to her father so he can be proud of her, she offered her life to their gods, it was an honour, they believed in th eafter life and to them dead was just the begining.
Barbaric acts lets see the modern time isn't it barbaric that in the calling weapons of mass destruction a country invades another country and kills thousons of inocent people? and they come back and say we are building a MacDonal's you should be thankfull!!
Why.. did the aztecs do that to the girl and then show it off infront of her father if they didnt have the power to back it up...? did they think he would enjoy it?
GundamFan360 you are an total ignorant fro Aztecs sacrifise was an honour not the end they were offering their own lifes to theri gods!! please read the Aztecs history before you opend your mouth!!
@GundamFan360 Catholics in medieval times were messed up too, their were the crusades, inquisitions and witch trials plus the Spaniards pleaded to the Pope for permission to invade the indigenous people of the americas cause they were seen as heathens and the pope granted their permission. Both Christian and Aztec faith were messed up in those times
I think the aztecs were probably not as bad as they say they were but the spaniards needed a bad guy to legitimize their slaughtering of the indians, sort of like the "war on terror" we have today.
Hmmm first time I heard about that "marriage" sacrifice" theory that pushed the Aztecs to the swamps. I have always heard rather that they were nomads and their leaders had a vision about seing an Eagle devouring a snake, perched on a cactus, which would be where they should settle and, later they saw this in the swamps and started their magnificiant city..
...meow...(...here is where all the evidence - archaeological evidence - must be summed up: the Mexica elders would communicate their interpretation of "life beyond death and that it is our duty - both men and women - to volunteer ourselves for sacrifice, however, one must research the true meanings behind a man or woman volunteering theirself for sacrifice; the Mexica again were not believed and persecuted as criminals; begin in the Florentine Codex; one side of the evidence is presented...)
I've never heard of the princess story and that they were banished to the island. I thought they just traveled trying to looking for the eagle and the cactus etc.
Yeah, but the Aztecs had the last laugh.. They become Mexicans and turn spanish culture upside down. Look at Mexico today, the Aztecs rule mexico throw drugs and people fear them. LOL.
@WarshipAngelus cartier went to mexico when it was mayans and aztecs they killed off most of them then interbreed with them...they gave the Aztecs&Mayans Catholicism and spanish....Mayans and Aztecs (or Mexican natives)...there arent many and they dont identify as Mexican.....You are a lower class Spaniard.. Or spic....sorry :(
Dude, who the fuck said I was from Mexico or even a Aztec....???
The last time that I look in a mirror, I saw a white redneck guy that drinking alot of beer. Dude Most Spanish people in Mexico are about 80% mix with Mayan and Aztecs blood. If You go there You would know that, Also almost 98% of people in all of South America and Centeral America are mostly mix spanish with local indians. Pretty much the only true Spanish left are the ones living in Spain.
@SuperGilberto1977 sorry only shit lives in mexico.....ive stayed a week at a resort....why the fuck would a wanna goto a spic pit fucking shithole like mexico id jst be in cancun and shit....mexico is poo man and living in shit doesnt give u character...it just means your poop... :( sorry
@99cacahuate actually aztec is the empire they ruled in along with 2 other tribes, the aztec is an alliance of 3 super tribes, 3 cities wich spoke Nahuatl. Mexica were one Acolhua and the Tepanec. Mexica's where the strongest. Also The spanish didnt conquer the aztecs alone they allied all the aztec enemies and colonies to take part in the conquest of the empire.
Peter Hassler may be right or not. but the facts remain facts: totonacs, tlaxacals, zapotecs, etc. they all supported Cortez in his quest to erase the aztecs. divide & conquer? yes, this is a well known military strategy. but may I ask why the aztecs didn't manage to find any allies? in front of an imminent destruction any rational strategist ask for help. does the term of tzompantli rings your bell? it's a skull rack used by the aztecs to spread terror! do you still think they were nice people?
@bogdancomm The Aztecs were the most powerful nation in their region so of course the smaller groups would be envious of them and more likely to be used as puppets (in divide and conquer tactics) by invading foreigner colonists (in this case the brutal Spanish Conquistador criminals and thieves). That is again how divide and conquer is done, by trying to weaken the strongest Indigenous group first.
@bogdancomm As for the "skull racks" scholars not swallowing the Conquistador invader propaganda have noted that the Aztecs had very strict laws and anyone caught stealing, abusing alcohol, or committing adultery would be put to death and their skulls were then cleaned and put on public display as warning to others of the consequences of breaking the law (i.e. the death penalty). Also some Conquistador "accounts" of these "racks" are absurd and claim to "count" alleged exact amounts!
Interesting things terrific! Why is it special to the three great empire? The Maya, the Aztec and the Inca Empire had a border with each other. A similar degree of development and the people had similar features. But here also included the Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Celtic, Uygur pyramid builders as well. Monumental buildings before the wonder of the world is, because the findings are not only an understanding of historical knowledge is needed.
The natural sciences (physics, chemistry, geography, biology, astronomy), the sum of the floor just a beautiful culture. Those who solves all this, he realizes that we are not the only intelligent beings in the universe. A lot of people know what the future holds, but deliberately did not speak about it. It is hard to imagine an advanced nations such as South America vanished civilizations individuals bloody, brutal formation
This may be a conqueror tactics, which helped to enslavement, and thus a positive image of the conquerors of the then "civilized" Europe. This behavior is exactly like today, when an independent state they want to conquer it is simply called a terrorist, says nuclear weapons or hiding. The media trumpets, and spread the ignorant world applaud the killing of innocents by the media during prime time hit at dinner together! This is not terrible?
The natural people are more familiar with the tribal communities living in other star systems, such as scientists. They are smart, we are stupid or what? There is a planet, my people call Nibiru. The history has repeatedly returned to the closed environment and changed the face of the Earth to date.
On the basis of 27 times larger than the Earth, moon, two rings are perpendicular to each other. Like a cross. If one considers that the moon, which is in circulation around a third of the earth. 6 meter tide phenomenon produces a price, then a 27 times higher than what celestial body water column raises. There in the ancient calendars of the date ... People believe that the world we live in we got our fathers kept as a legacy of grandchildren.
I do not think should have been deceitful way to take advantage of the conquerors of the indigenous peoples. Because they believed that the long-expected friends to return, who are revered as God. The golden radiance blinded their minds. And blinded by those who break other people's lives today, any false grounds. But let's marvel, these vanished civilizations, culture of the past points the way towards the future!
there's no doubt most of the precolumbian civilizations were somehow more socialy advanced. not in technology, but in many other aspects... yet, my oppinion is: they were roten inside... a great empire NEVER fall just like that; in front of a bunch of adventurers... this is a sign of a profoundly corrupted social system. no offense...
@bogdancomm The Indigenous people were greatly weakened by Spanish germs. The Indigenous people were completely weakened by the germs that is the only reason the Indigenous lost to the Spanish Conquistador invaders.
@themanishere4 I disagree with that biological germs theory. by the time the spaniards arrived in the aztec citadel of tenochtitlan lots of tlaxacals joined cortez's army for several months. they fought side by side with the spanish soldiers and nothing wrong happened. I rather give credit to the theory that every people next to the aztecs hate them for their insatiable blood thirst! would you feel comfortable knowing your neighbor is making human sacrifices day by day? you could be the next...
@bogdancomm The only reason the Mexica fell to the Spanish invaders was because of the germs; otherwise they would've certainly defeated the Spanish and anybody the Spanish invaders had enticed to collaborate with them. European colonialists proved to be very good at divide and conquer, plain and simple. As to alleged "sacrifice" propaganda you bring there is absolutely zero actual "evidence" of any of this see German academic Peter Hassler's "Lies of the Conquistadors".
@bogdancomm Peter Hassler shows that all that exists are fake "testimonies" like del Castillo who claimed he "saw" a sacrifice from 3 miles away! Inquisition "confessions" given by Mayans under Spanish torture like Diego de Landa; and weakest of all artworks like pictographs and such. Guess what there are also pictures from medieval Europe of Jews killing Christian babies and putting their blood in the Jewish matzas does this mean that this Jewish human sacrifice also happened?!
@bogdancomm Last all of all the Spanish invaders were out to pillage and steal plain and simple; see the document the Spanish Requirement of 1513 were the Spanish colonizers and killers make their plans clear. Also many try to insult the Aztecs whereas the Spanish and Europeans were the true brutal ones; see the Spanish Inquisition, "witch" burning, medieval European torture devices, Roman gladiator brutality in the West, etc. Only thing is history is written by the victor.
@themanishere4 no one deny the brutality of the europeans... it's absolutely true the conquistadors killed, pilaged and raped... let's make it clear: no one deny the genocide of the native population... but you still need to wonder why the tlaxacals joined Cortez in his quest to distroy the Aztec Empire? the tlaxacals were natives, am I right? looks like they percieved the spaniards less evil than the aztecs! the fact spaniards were brutal does not pardon the aztecs for their bloody traits...
@bogdancomm Plain and simple Europeans mastered the backhanded tactic of divide and conquer, by promising riches and wealth to a minority of people they could get to join them in their deeds. This tactic along with their germs allowed them to destroy peoples. Much like how Europeans in mainland North America would get certain poor Natives addicted to alcohol and then use them to betray the rest of a Native tribe.
@bogdancomm As to the Aztecs no one is claiming they were "perfect", as no human beings are without flaws. However, again German academic Peter Hassler showed in his work "Lies of the Conquistadors" that no hard evidence exists of an alleged "institutionalized mass human sacrifice" among the Aztecs. Again all that exists are Conquistador propaganda accounts, Inquisition "testimony" given under torture like Diego de Landa, and again weakest of all artwork.
@bogdancomm Again such artwork could contain myths, allegories, or legends and it certainly is not "proof" of any alleged "human sacrifice" among the Aztecs; as we don't know the destroyed Aztecs understanding of these arts. Such artwork exists in Christian literature about "sacrifice" and again there are many works in medieval Europe that show artwork depicting Jews "sacrificing" Christian babies. Except seen Jews "won" this is called "blood libel" whereas the Aztecs lost and can't rebuttal.
@themanishere4 the aztec artworks depicting sacrifices could have a lots of meanings and we don't know them. but there's no doubt the mesoamerican populations practiced the human sacrifices. the spanish authories were bureacratic and we have documents in wich they ban the human sacrifice. if this practice hasn't existed, the spaniards wouldn't have felt the need to sanction it. nobody adopts a law if it won't be necessary, am I right? the aztecs really did sacrificed humans... no offense...
@bogdancomm The Spanish Conquistadors certainly would push the myth that the Aztecs allegedly carried out "mass human sacrifice" as this would be propaganda for declaring the Aztecs and other Indigenous peoples as "heathens" who allegedly deserved to be killed. Most killers and occupiers make up such things about those they oppressed to help put their minds at ease about their crimes.
@bogdancomm Regarding how the Spanish Conquistadors used propaganda see the 16th century Spanish Dominican priest and first Bishop of Chiapas Bartolome de las Casas who was sympathetic to the plight of the oppressed Indigenous people and spoke of the Spanish Conquistador crimes and the system of exploitation the Spanish colonialist invaders were setting up in Mesoamerica for the "glory" and "riches" (theft) to go to Spain.
@bogdancomm Lastly about why the Spanish authorities would pass "laws" against alleged "human sacrifice" (if it were not real) this is easily explained once you considered the Spanish authorities (often times Inquisition officials) and the types of beliefs they held and other issues they dealt with. These are the same kind of Spanish officials who claimed there was a huge alleged demonic conspiracy of female witches who were having sex with the devil and such! There beliefs don't prove anything
@themanishere4 man... I don't get it: why are you defending the aztecs? they really did sacrifice humans. look at their artworks... listen to their OWN legends... lots of nahuatl speakers can tell you stories about human sacrifices. I'm not talking about spanish propaganda here. of course the spaniards were bad, but this is not the point...
beside, there must be a good reason God abandoned the aztecs at the mercy of the conquistadors: 100 times worse than them! God does not make mistakes...
@bogdancomm You saying something doesn't allegedly make it "true"! If you want a real academic read just google the name Peter Hassler (again a German academic) and "Lies of the Conquistadors". There is absolutely zero real hard "evidence" of any alleged mass Aztec "human sacrifice". The artwork is not "evidence", the only alleged Indigenous "confessions" come from tortured people or later converted Christians, and the only alleged "eyewitnesses" are lying Conquistadors 3 miles away del Castillo
@bogdancomm As for your claims about alleged Nahuatl "stories" care to give a source?! Yes the Spanish conquers tried to brainwash the post-conquest Indigenous peoples into hating their ancestors this again proves nothing. An interesting point on Nahuatl;
The Nahuatl word "tlacamictilitzli" which - according to the Spanish monk and interpreter Fray Alonso de Molina referred to human sacrifice - simply meant "man-killing"and was the same word used to describe murder or any other homicide.
@bogdancomm Your last point were you make claims involving God are not only evil but actually silly and wrong as well. Speaking to you as another person who believes in God; how can you employ such sick social Darwinist logic?! Using your "logic" anyone who murders can just claim God allegedly wanted them to do it! Humans have free will and sometimes evil people succeed in this world; believing in God means that God will judge in the end.
@bogdancomm Also since you seem to like social Darwinist logic (and yet also claim a belief in a god) how do you explain innocent young children that die?! Did God allegedly "curse" and "punish" innocent young boys and girls who never did anything wrong yet still fall victim to say a disease which takes their lives? Did God also back the Nazis when they killed around 6 million Jews and others?! Again humans have free will, also the Spanish were far more brutal again see Spanish Inquisition etc
@themanishere4 dude, God does not make mistakes! God is not evil... God simply has nothing to do with this world. He is helping EXCLUSIVELY his chosen persons, that's all. if won't be a chosen one... then you must obey the darwinist laws. nature is nature dude. and the strong species survive and the weak species disapear: this is naked truth. spanish soldiers were better and they won; what's the big deal? yet, there are situations when the law of the nature fail. could be God? up to you dude...
@bogdancomm No one is claiming that God allegedly made mistakes, your the one who seems claim belief in God but also absurdly adopted social Darwinist logic which is against the idea of a merciful and loving God. So what makes your logic different than say that of Adolf Hitler and the Nazis?! The Nazis did invent a whole lot of stuff see V-2 rocket, started the war on cancer, and so many others. The Nazis also were so close to winning WWII against huge odds, so you would've supported Nazis?!
@themanishere4 God is not making police in this world. He just help some people... please notice: I said "some"... If you won't be among that "some", do not expect something from God: good or bad. you won't even notice God exists. speaking about this world we live in... well Darwin point it the best: it's do or die! you wanna be part of this world? good, do it! be the best... be the alpha dog! train yourself because it won't be easy... but remember: every dog has its day ;)
@themanishere4 now let's get back to our topic, shall we? the aztecs terrorized the entire central america. wow! they were the best... but one day few people far better than them: the spaniards, landed and in less than 3 years erased them! the spanish soldiers were better trained, better equiped and had a superior battle discipline. where is God??? He had no part in this war... He simply turned His face off. the aztecs lived like war dogs... and died like war dogs! every dog has its day ;)
@bogdancomm So any battle God is allegedly choosing a "side"?! Most religions state that humans have free will and we will be judged on what we do with said free will. Again using logic that you seemed to be trying to employ earlier on (you seemed to be claiming God allegedly "supported" the Spanish conquistadors) any criminal that succeeds in their crime could simply turn around and claim God supported them in their criminal endeavor. Yet no religion would support you on this!
@themanishere4 God has nothing to do with any war. this is a human job. God is protecting EXCUSIVELY... please note: EXCLUSIVELY, His chosen persons. well, looks like aztecs were not in the God's grace. they did horrible things and horrible things happened to them. and it was NOT God bringing their doom... they simply doomed themselves. in the same situation was the people of Japan: a backward nation. but they understood the danger and recoverd extremly fast! now they are a strong nation...
@bogdancomm Your logic is very flawed in so many different ways. So do you believe God is allegedly supporting some empires and not others or what?! Japan has a long history of empires and fought very well in the beginning of WWII in particular. As to the Aztecs there civilization rivaled anything in Europe of that time, again it was only the germs that decimated the Aztecs and led the Spanish (along with those they had got to work for them as puppets in divide and conquer) to victory.
@themanishere4 what I'm trying to tell you is that the clash between the aztecs and the spaniards were a pure natural fight. no God. not a single divine intervention. nothing! the spaniards won because they mastered the art of war here; in Europe. biological warfare was not intended, but it just happened. and it helped Cortez to win the siege of Tenochtitlan. Cortez won because he was ruthless, merciless, evil, but a damn fine military strategist. God did not helped him. but neither the aztecs!
@themanishere4 let's make it clear once for all: God is not involed in this world! this is a natural world and, as Darwin excelently point it; the most adapted species is to survive. the aztecs were not adapted. everybody feared, but nobody loved them. their way full of blood and violence were so hated, that all of their neighbours rushed to help Cortez to wipe them out! God simply turned His face away from the carnage. God did't helped Cortez... the aztecs' neighbours did it !
@bogdancomm Your theological claims are weird so I will just leave them alone, as long as you don't try to claim from an absurd angle that the Spanish genocide of the Natives was allegedly "blessed" by God. The Conquistador invaders again only won because the Aztec people were so thoroughly destroyed and weakened by the Spanish invaders germs that they couldn't fight back effectively.
@bogdancomm As to your claims about alleged Aztec "brutality" they are without any truth, as shown again by German academic Peter Hassler in his "Lies of the Conquistadors", and were created by these same brutal Spaniards to justify their genocide, conquest, and exploitation of the Indigenous peoples of Mesoamerica. The true brutal ones were the Spanish with their Inquisition, torture devices, and war crimes! Europeans were good at divide and conquer, and they turned even on their "allies" later
@themanishere4 "As to your claims about alleged Aztec "brutality" they are without any truth" yes, because they were living in a utopia before the big bad europeans came. their warrior traditions were all for show, they used to settle their differences with dance battles. this is all just the whining of the conquered.
@bogdancomm As to if I think the Aztecs were "nice". They were certainly better than the Europeans who killed them, colonized them, raped them, and stole their land and resources for their own "Spanish Empire". Again all your charges against the Aztecs are without evidence and those who you support against them have their hands soaked with much more blood. See again Spanish Inquisition, European medieval "witch" burning, European medieval torture devices, Roman gladiators, and on and on!
@themanishere4 I give up man... no point to explain to you what the history and archaeology didn't manage to make you understand; during times the healthy cultures never collapsed! the europeans are a greedy race: that's true! but, as a good example, they never managed to subdue the chinese people; the chinese repelled the european riflemen with ancient crossbows! when a people really believe its tradition is right and fair, it won't collapse. no matter how strong or shrewd the invaders are...
@bogdancomm "they never managed to subdue the chinese people" they sure as hell did. never heard of the opium wars i guess? china was raped and divided up by european powers for quite some time. "the europeans are a greedy race" as opposed to the native empires who spread their empires by singing songs and handing out flowers i guess?
@BillKiernan as far as I know: during the opium wars China lost only the Hong Kong... indeed the chinese use to call that period "the century of humiliation" because basically they lost on the battlefield and were imposed unfair trading agreements... but in the end the chinese recovered...
no empire spreaded with flowers... that's why I should never have an army... lol... you would see with your own eyes how greedy a real european could be. Darth Vader would be just a little kid...
@bogdancomm during the late 1800's china was divided up into "spheres of influence" by russia, england, france, germany, and japan. it wasn't just hong kong, the whole country was totally under the boots of foreign control, the majority of which was western control. they were totally subdued. enough with the "greedy european" stuff. humans are greedy. europeans found themselves at a ridiculously high technological advantage and capitalized on it (cont.)
@bogdancomm (cont.) if native empires had that technology and ability to mobilize troops across entire oceans, they may very well have done the same thing, being that they already used force to position themselves at the top of the food chain in their own lands. humans are pretty despicable, and inventing fairy tale scenarios where the gentle natives were overcome by the Orc-like purely evil white outsiders is really foolish and just shows envy on the side of the conquered.
@bogdancomm Again the Spanish only won because they happened to get lucky with the germs they brought with them (on their bodies). The germs are what weakened the Aztecs, the Spanish Conquistador invaders would've been destroyed easily if the Aztecs had actually been full strength but obviously its hard to fight when your population is suffering from a massive epidemic of new diseases. As to brutality check out Spanish Inquisition, Roman gladiators, European torture devices, "witch" burning, etc
@themanishere4 man did you really read some history? the tlaxcalans fought side by side with the spanish soldiers, how comes they didn't get infected by the new germs? and it's not true the aztecs were weakened... the europeans were weakened after "la noche trista"!!! in the battle of Otumba the aztecs were more healthy and far more stronger than the conquaistadors! yet the superior discipline and the strategical skills of Cortez turned the outcome of the battle in the favor of the spaniards...
@bogdancomm As to your "history", La Noche Triste was Cortes and his Conquistadors retreating after the larger native Aztecs learned what the invading Spanish were up to (as far as Spanish plans for conquest and theft). In the battle of Otumba the Spanish infantry saved them as this allowed them to hold off the more numerous (but not as well armed) Aztecs. This can't be compared to what the Aztecs endured, when Cortes and his men came back as the germs then had so badly weakened the Aztecs.
The history of all times and everywhere the "winners" is written. The culture is completely destroyed, subjugated, even if it may have a higher civilization than the aggressive invaders. Dostoyevsky said: "The degree of civilization, the prisoners may be seen." This is our modern world from this perspective is very poor.
Although we can learn more about the amazing culture, which is our aggressive, brutish preceded our world. They lived in harmony with nature, we gutted it, even at the cost of our lives. I hope that once the knowledge shining in our world again, as it has done many thousands of years.
as peter weller said, the maya we're not exactly lovey dovey like hippies make them out to be. of course they we're smart. So are some christians but that doesnt make them peaceful and non-savage
Is the story about the girl true or is it myth? Does anyone know? I know they offered people up for sacrifice that were captured in war but I've never here that story...
@alefeb1 it is a fabricated myth, there was never any sacrifice performed in anahuak ( mexico ), This myth was made up because historians found a statue of a man wearing what seemed to be skin of others....but that piece is Xipe Totek, which represents birth and rebirth a manifestation as the spring equinox....' The dumb ass historians do not know how to interpret our culture.
but again, there was no sacrifice done, specially not for the sun to be able to rise again, that is ridiculous!
@MEXIKAYOTL2012 Great points friend, its sickening how history is written by the victor and racist Eurocentric liars dominate the Western academic fields of studying pre-conquest Mesoamerican history. It would be much like having non-Jewish German people studying the Nazi genocide of Jews, Gypsies, and others during WWII. The Native people also continue to face oppression and poverty in ghettos created by the white European invaders descendants till this day. Victory for the Indigenous!
No sacrifice? Tell that to the archaeologists who dragged skeletons out of the sacred cenote at Chichen Itza, or to the hundreds of people who have seen the murals of Bonampak, or how about you look in the surviving codices. Sacrifice wasn't barbaric, it was a sacred duty to the gods. Judging by the actions of people who still follow the old ways, the gods still like sacrifice, but are willing to make do with bloodletting and chickens instead of human sacrifice.
@TheLastMexicatl, that's where you are wrong my brother. archeologist have yet to dig up a skeleton whom died of natural cause! it has all been labeled as sacrifice.
if that is the case, that means the city of tenochtitlan would have been self destructed in less than a year. ( Taking into consideration the amount of sacrifice they claim there was) as for bonampak, those murals were forced to be created by euro spanish priests after the conquest there. plus, our ancestors didn't have GODS....
@TheLastMexicatl, not sure where you are getting your information brother, but we as an indigenous people, do not have GODS,.and sacrifice for the sake of the sun to rise again is ridiculous, how can a people who's priority is to follow space and time and the movement of the cosmos, think that blood of humans would make the sun rise again!!! The sacrifice agenda came from Cortez and Del Castillo from a letter to King Charles, claiming they saw it happen 3 miles away!!??? hmmm 3 miles away?????
Look at the modern day beliefs of the Lacandon Maya. Blood sacrifice to multiple gods still occurs. They have pulled skeletons out of the Sacred Cenote at Chichen Itza, and incense cakes in the shape of hearts. The Popol Vuh of the Quiche states man was created to offer sacrifice, devotion, and honor to the gods. While there may not be a one to one translation of the word for "god" in Quiche, Itza, or Nahuatl, I think god is a good word for a divine being who is worshiped by a group of people.
@MEXIKAYOTL2012 nonsense. there is vast evidence of human sacrifice in "aztec" civilization. it's great to be proud, but not if you have to engage in inventing alternate realities to keep that pride alive. don't fall into the trap "afrocentric" types do. civilizations have good and bad sides, accept both.
@MEXIKAYOTL2012 , again you provide no evidence, rather just hang on to the " so called fact " that it existed just because a so called archeologist claims it . " After careful and systematic study of the sources, I find no sign of evidence of institutionalized mass human sacrifice among the aztecs. The phenomenon to be studied, therefore, may not be these supposed sacrifices, but the deeply rooted belief that they occurred" -Dr Peter Hassler
@MEXIKAYOTL2012 "Dr Peter Hassler" cool! you have one guy! i can tell by the other thing's you've said, most of your information comes from this one man's work. so when we see native mexica statuary depicting human sacrifice, codices, etc. what are we to make of them? god forbid mexicas were fucked up humans like the rest of us right?
@BillKiernan Your a fool. All the "statues" and "codices" your speaking of are post-conquest creations of the Spanish conquistador colonialist officials ruling "New Spain" (Mexico). For example the "codices" you speak of were created under the control of a Catholic official named Bernardino de Sahagun. Also the Catholic Inquisition torture was brought by the evil Spanish invaders to "New Spain" (Mexico). The Spanish controlled these productions (like the Codex Rios or Codex Mendoza).
@BillKiernan As Germany was destroyed and colonized by the imperialist "Allied powers", see the firebombing of Dresden and all the German civilians massacred by the evil imperialist "Allied powers". This was during the inter-imperialist war that is commonly called WWII. White European Christians were the true barbarians and monsters see the burning of alleged "witches", slavery, Protestant-Catholic wars like the 100 years war, Inquisitions and all their absurd torture devices, gladiators, and on
@MEXIKAYOTL2012 "but you provided none of it" as if even if i did, you would accept any of it? ok fine, have fun:
Matos-Moctezuma, Eduardo (1986). Vida y muerte en el Templo Mayor. Fondo de Cultura Económica. , Stevenson, Mark."Evidence May Back Human Sacrifice Claims." Live Science. Mar.27/09, Live Science Staff. "Grisly Sacrifices Found in Pyramid of the Moon." Live Science. Mar.27/09, Nicholson, Henry B. (1971). (in) Handbook of Middle American Indians etc etc etc etc
@MEXIKAYOTL2012 "how can a people who's priority is to follow space and time and the movement of the cosmos, think that blood of humans would make the sun rise again" how could people who pilot the space shuttle think that a hebrew war god incarnated on earth as his own son, sacrificed himself, and then flew up into heaven to judge us all? humans are capable of amazing intellectual feats while believing in ridiculous things at the same time.
@BillKiernan , not sure what your point is, but I don't believe in the bullshit sacrifice fable. That is a chrsitianiezed falacy! You must just read the bullshit history that libraries offer. You offer an okay point the only difference is that people who pilot the space shuttle and religion are a total different subject as opposed to Cosmology with our ancestors..... Sun rising, Space and Time....same thing. BULLSHIT LIES THAT AMERIKKKA OFFERS
@MEXIKAYOTL2012 so all the archelogists and palentologists and historians that verify the large body of evidence that your ancestors, and the natives of south america, etc practiced human sacrifice are all a part of a grand conspiracy against you. do you realize how silly you sound?
@BillKiernan No, not silly at all. If you actually study it, rather than just run with what someone tells you , then you will see the truth. The notion or agenda of sacrifice came from the mouth of 2 people. Hernan Cortez and Bernal Del Castillo, both of whom were/are responsible for the annihilation of all the beauty that was/is the indigenous native culture. In Cortez book " letter from Mexico, he wrote to King Charles claiming to see a sacrifice , yet they were seperated by 3 miles of water
@MEXIKAYOTL2012 "We now have the physical evidence to corroborate the written and pictorial record," said archeologist Leonardo Lopez Lujan. "Some 'pro-Indian' currents had always denied this had happened. They said the texts must be lying." but i guess people like Leonardo Lopez Lujan are part of the international conspiracy to make it seem like human sacrifce was done........
@BillKiernan The Catholic Inquisition told brainwashed young Natives who had been forced to become Catholic Christians and hate their ancestors; to write these post conquest "codices" to make the Spanish invaders look like alleged "civilizers" not the evil thieves they were! Why else do you think the Catholic Church in "New Spain" (Mexico) ordered these "codices" to be written?! Also do you believe Jews sacrificed Christian babies in Europe there are drawings of this also! See Dr. Ariel Toaff.
@BillKiernan There are no indigenous Mexica people who believe in the Spanish created myth of alleged "human sacrifice" what you try to speak of are Spanish people in modern day Mexico who are also Eurocentric "academics" trying to excuse the crimes of their white Spanish ancestors. Indigenous people remain the poorest segment of modern Mexico and all you are showing is white Spanish people. Peter Hassler refuted your claims in his wonderful work "Lies of the Conquistadors"!
@themanishere4 "There are no indigenous Mexica people who believe.." what a ridiculous thing to say. for one, i've seen comments on this very website from mexica people who, unlike you, are willing to accept reality, the reality that almost EVERY human civilization EVER has blood on its hands and had its good, and bad sides. shall i dig up for you lists of mexica archeologists who accept the fact that there was sacrifice? i live in peru, and there is no shortage of natives who accept such things
@themanishere4 "Brainwashed "Christianized" natives who bow before the brutal criminal Catholic church I'm sure!" of course. can't be honest academics who are willing to tell the truth about what they find. but a grand conspiracy is so much sexier to believe isnt' it?
@BillKiernan History is written by the victor! Do you also believe Jews sacrificed Christian babies in medieval Europe! Dr. Ariel Toaff has written a book called "Blood Passover" presenting evidence for this but since Jews are in positions of power (and are in that case associated with the current "winning" side in modern history) they attack back and claim it is all "blood libel". Yet with the Aztecs and Mayas they are still powerless peasants and have no access to academia and are "losers".
@themanishere4 "Do you also believe Jews sacrificed Christian babies in medieval Europe!" no because there's no evidence of it, but rather evidence that it was all contrived. maybe you should let your friends at Hezbollah know that though, they still believe that shit. "Yet with the Aztecs and Mayas they are still powerless peasants and have no access to academia and are "losers"" there are aztec and mayan academics in mexico. what alternate reality are you crafting in your mind?
@BillKiernan So in the end all you have is Eurocentric propaganda garbage like claims that Bernal Diaz del Castillo can see 3 or 4 miles in the distance, that human hearts can impossibly be "ripped out" without modern medical tools like bone saws, and the post-conquest propaganda "codices" and "works" of the Catholic Spanish colonizers of "New Spain" (Mexico) like the colonist Bernardino de Sahagun. Also even the Jew Dr. Ariel Toaff gave evidence for Jews killing babies also see Vicki Polin!
@themanishere4 "Also even the Jew Dr. Ariel Toaff gave evidence for Jews killing babies also see Vicki Polin!" holy shit, so you actually believe the "blood libel" stuff! i thought you were using it as an example of propaganda.
@BillKiernan And before you try to make claims in favor of the Zionist Khazar white Ashkenazi invaders and thieves who stole the Palestinians land. Dr. Ariella Oppenheim says Palestinians are Canaanites and: "descendants of a core population that lived in the area (Palestine) since prehistoric times". Also the 17th century Mufti Khayr al-Din al-Ramli (1585-1671) wrote in Arabic in his work al-Fatawa al-Khayriyah "Filastin biladuna" which means "Palestine our home". As you seem like a Zionist.
@themanishere4 save your cut and pastes kid. i don't give a fuck about your backwards stone age ramblings about imaginary friends in the sky. why don't you move to the middle east and get out of the U.S, preferably in a place where a Daisy Cutter is about to be dropped.
@BillKiernan In this case modern Native Americans are sadly "losers" in the recent modern historical context and thus mainstream history has been (and is mostly) being written by their white supremacist oppressors!
@themanishere4 "Eurocentric "academics" trying to excuse the crimes of their white Spanish ancestors" yes, it's all a conspiracy of the big bad white people...
@BillKiernan History is written by the victor is a very true saying. The Vatican is extremely wealthy today from all its crimes and role in the Trans Atlantic slave trade. Just see how much the artwork in the Vatican is worth, it is worth millions of dollars at least! On the other hand the indigenous people of the "Americas" remain the poorest segment of "American" society till this day. In Mexico Mayas and others are basically just peasant farmers thus they can't defend themselves from lies.
@BillKiernan There is zero "physical evidence", where exactly are all the bones from these alleged "sacrifices"?! All Eurocentric "academics" (working to excuse their white demon ancestor's crimes) do is see a few bones near a historical site and absurdly yell "human sacrifice"! For example bones that appear to have been "cut" prove nothing, for example in Tantric Buddhism even today they cut bones of the deceased to make wooden instruments for rituals. Do you believe Buddhists do "sacrifices"?!
@themanishere4 "All Eurocentric "academics" (working to excuse their white demon ancestor's crimes)" ah yes, it's a vast conspiracy...."in Tantric Buddhism even today they cut bones of the deceased to make wooden instruments for rituals" yes, they make skull cups and thigh bone trumpets, not sites with intact bodies showing signs of ritual sacrifice, as you find in mexico.
@BillKiernan Care to provide any "evidence" for your repeating of claims made by Eurocentric "academics". And the people you claim as "Mexica" people that claim alleged "human sacrifice" occurred are all Spanish invaders and not indigenous people: these are the modern "Mexicans" you are speaking of. The indigenous people of Mexico (like the Mayans and Aztecs) are still till this day the poorest and most oppressed segment of Mexican society which has white Spaniards on top.
@themanishere4 you've already told me that if they exist, they are "brainwashed." actually, if you look at my other posts on this video, i cite sources of academics, some of native background. but don't listen to me, i'm part of the great white conspiracy. i'll ask again, you don't believe in evolution do you?
@themanishere4 "There is zero "physical evidence" hmmm, i'm going to out on a limb here. you don't accept that evolution occurs and that man shares a common ancestor with the great apes do you?
@BillKiernan it was no secret that sacrificial rituals were held in the Aztec Empire but it was for their religion not because they enjoyed it maybe the priests did but they believed being sacrificed also dying in the battle field will send you in a great afterlife similar to Valhalla. It's not like they were the only civilization to commit ritual sacrifice, the Saxans and Germanic tribes have committed sacrificial rituals for their religion as well. Religion makes you do radical stuff
@uncleruckus714 I agree fully. i'm just arguing with those who want to make up a fantasy version of history where the native americans lived in peace together singing kumbaya by the fireside. there are a few on here trying to say human sacrifice is a pure myth made up by the conquistadors, when you have even native anthropologists, archaeologists, etc verifying that it indeed did happen, through south and central america. but yes, i agree with you fully.
@BillKiernan Also just one of the many absurdities and impossibilities in the mythical, fake stories of alleged Aztec "human sacrifice" is the absurd claim about ripping out hearts of "victims"! The Aztecs could never have done this with the tools available to them, the heart is protected by the sternum and to get through it modern doctors need to use modern medical tools like "bone saws" if don't have this you can't get through.
@themanishere4 Good grief. let's put aside the fact that it's an uncontroversial fact among the overwhelming majority of MODERN scholars/anthropologists/archaeologists, some of them of mexica/meztica origin that the Mexicas practiced human sacrfice, and move on to your assertion here. modern medical tools are medical tools, designed to do the least harm possible as they work with organs. that, also aside, all you have to do to grab a heart out of someone is cut BELOW the sternum and reach up.
@BillKiernan Even if the myths of alleged "human sacrifice" among the Aztecs were true (which they are not) they have been greatly exaggerated in scope. Heck some of the most absurd Eurocentric tales would require us to believe the Aztecs were more efficient at disposing of dead bodies (alleged "sacrifice victims") then the Nazi Germans were at the Auschwitz concentration camp in the 1940s when they were disposing of inmates who had died of disease, overwork, and starvation as Germany was harmed
@MEXIKAYOTL2012 "You must just read the bullshit history that libraries offer" as opposed to populist revisonary history where the mexicas were living in a utopia before the inherently evil white man came? i suppose they spread their empire by reciting poetry to their opponents, or having dance-offs? get real, please. of course there is propaganda and disinformation on the part of the conquistadors, but that doesn't erase the fact that they performed human sacrifice.
@TheLastMexicatl All the "codices" are post conquest and were made by the Spanish conquistadors and Catholic officials see Bernardino de Sahagun. "Murals" prove no more than all the medieval pictures of Jewish sacrificing Christian babies all over Europe.
Keep deluding yourself. I could point out dozens of pieces of evidence against what you're saying, but you would just plug your ears and ignore it because you can't handle the facts, and want to bown down to the European idea that all Native Americans were "Great Spirit" worshippers.
If not from these codices and manuscripts, WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU GETTING YOUR INFORMATION FROM!?! How the hell would we know ANYTHING about Aztec culture and society?
@HoundofOdin That is just it we really don't know much at all (for sure) about the Aztecs and many other Mesoamerican cultures and societies because of how effectively European "Christians" conquered and exterminated them (i.e. genocide). The information that is out their (even among mostly Western academics today) is not reliable and comes from people living decades after the conquests who had in many cases been brainwashed and "Christianized" by the conquering Spanish invaders.
A lot of our information comes from Bernardino de Sahagun, a Spanish monk who made it his life's work to document the pre-Spanish life of the Aztec people. He came to Mexico just ten years after the conquest and talked with survivors of it about how things were before. His work was so detailed and unbiased that it was suppressed by the Church because they thought it would lead people back to "idolatry".
@alefeb1, the story about her skin being taken offf???
fk no, that story was fabricated my euro spanish. They took a statue that represents transformation, which is Xipe Totek, spring time.....and thought up the farce story of the girl and a wedding...
well the true is that no one know where the aztecs came from, so what they said about the princess it wasnt true, and that they kill people to take out the heart they just did with the enemy not with their own poeple, and it wasnt a ritual...!!!

HiveFleetDerilect 8 months ago
@HiveFleetDerilect, many other cultures also performed human sacrifice. The Barbarians from Germania are an example of this, but they would make sure their victims suffered in the most horrible, agonizing way before dying in order to please their gods. Europeans in the Middle Ages used to fabricate cruel torture apparatuses, although this was not for human sacrifice and was often for punishment. Still, Europeans killed many in the name of God and for their lust of wealth and power.

Also the Spanish Conquistadors and Europeans were the true barbarians and monsters as they burned alleged "witches", had Protestant-Catholic wars like the 100 years war, had slavery, had the torture of the Inquisition with all its absurd torture devices, gladiator battles, and on!
themanishere4 9 months ago
@themanishere4 but the Muslims have always been good and pure and their conquest of arabia and north africa and parts of europe were all peaceful right? no shit sherlock, tell me something i don't know about european barbarism. it's horrible because it was coupled with the technology to inflict suffering on a large scale. shall we talk about african, asian, amerindian, arab barbarism? humans can be despicable creatures, get off the bullshit "us vrs them" "good guys vrs bad guys" nonsense.
BillKiernan 9 months ago
@themanishere4 of course, because the spanish needed to craft "excuses" for what they did..(wtf)? who did they have to convince? spanish nobility/the spanish crown? all they had to know was they mexicas weren't christian and had a shitload of gold and silver to justify any damn thing they wanted. and the church didn't need an excuse to carry out what it did at the time, who did they have to answer to about the inquisition? no consipiracy necessary, just gold and opportunity.

Peter Hassler may be right or not. but the facts remain facts: totonacs, tlaxacals, zapotecs, etc. they all supported Cortez in his quest to erase the aztecs. divide & conquer? yes, this is a well known military strategy. but may I ask why the aztecs didn't manage to find any allies? in front of an imminent destruction any rational strategist ask for help. does the term of tzompantli rings your bell? it's a skull rack used by the aztecs to spread terror! do you still think they were nice people?
bogdancomm 1 year ago
@bogdancomm The Aztecs were the most powerful nation in their region so of course the smaller groups would be envious of them and more likely to be used as puppets (in divide and conquer tactics) by invading foreigner colonists (in this case the brutal Spanish Conquistador criminals and thieves). That is again how divide and conquer is done, by trying to weaken the strongest Indigenous group first.
themanishere4 1 year ago
@bogdancomm As for the "skull racks" scholars not swallowing the Conquistador invader propaganda have noted that the Aztecs had very strict laws and anyone caught stealing, abusing alcohol, or committing adultery would be put to death and their skulls were then cleaned and put on public display as warning to others of the consequences of breaking the law (i.e. the death penalty). Also some Conquistador "accounts" of these "racks" are absurd and claim to "count" alleged exact amounts!
themanishere4 1 year ago
Interesting things terrific! Why is it special to the three great empire? The Maya, the Aztec and the Inca Empire had a border with each other. A similar degree of development and the people had similar features. But here also included the Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Celtic, Uygur pyramid builders as well. Monumental buildings before the wonder of the world is, because the findings are not only an understanding of historical knowledge is needed.

This may be a conqueror tactics, which helped to enslavement, and thus a positive image of the conquerors of the then "civilized" Europe. This behavior is exactly like today, when an independent state they want to conquer it is simply called a terrorist, says nuclear weapons or hiding. But let's marvel, these vanished civilizations, culture of the past points the way towards the future!

@bogdancomm The Indigenous people were greatly weakened by Spanish germs. The Indigenous people were completely weakened by the germs that is the only reason the Indigenous lost to the Spanish Conquistador invaders.
themanishere4 1 year ago
@themanishere4 I disagree with that biological germs theory. by the time the spaniards arrived in the aztec citadel of tenochtitlan lots of tlaxacals joined cortez's army for several months. they fought side by side with the spanish soldiers and nothing wrong happened. I rather give credit to the theory that every people next to the aztecs hate them for their insatiable blood thirst! would you feel comfortable knowing your neighbor is making human sacrifices day by day? you could be the next...
bogdancomm 1 year ago
@bogdancomm The only reason the Mexica fell to the Spanish invaders was because of the germs; otherwise they would've certainly defeated the Spanish and anybody the Spanish invaders had enticed to collaborate with them. European colonialists proved to be very good at divide and conquer, plain and simple. As to alleged "sacrifice" propaganda you bring there is absolutely zero actual "evidence" of any of this see German academic Peter Hassler's "Lies of the Conquistadors".
themanishere4 1 year ago
@bogdancomm Peter Hassler shows that all that exists are fake "testimonies" like del Castillo who claimed he "saw" a sacrifice from 3 miles away! Inquisition "confessions" given by Mayans under Spanish torture like Diego de Landa; and weakest of all artworks like pictographs and such. Guess what there are also pictures from medieval Europe of Jews killing Christian babies and putting their blood in the Jewish matzas does this mean that this Jewish human sacrifice also happened?!
themanishere4 1 year ago
@bogdancomm Last all of all the Spanish invaders were out to pillage and steal plain and simple; see the document the Spanish Requirement of 1513 were the Spanish colonizers and killers make their plans clear. Also many try to insult the Aztecs whereas the Spanish and Europeans were the true brutal ones; see the Spanish Inquisition, "witch" burning, medieval European torture devices, Roman gladiator brutality in the West, etc. Only thing is history is written by the victor.
themanishere4 1 year ago
@themanishere4 no one deny the brutality of the europeans... it's absolutely true the conquistadors killed, pilaged and raped... let's make it clear: no one deny the genocide of the native population... but you still need to wonder why the tlaxacals joined Cortez in his quest to distroy the Aztec Empire? the tlaxacals were natives, am I right? looks like they percieved the spaniards less evil than the aztecs! the fact spaniards were brutal does not pardon the aztecs for their bloody traits...
bogdancomm 1 year ago
@bogdancomm Plain and simple Europeans mastered the backhanded tactic of divide and conquer, by promising riches and wealth to a minority of people they could get to join them in their deeds. This tactic along with their germs allowed them to destroy peoples. Much like how Europeans in mainland North America would get certain poor Natives addicted to alcohol and then use them to betray the rest of a Native tribe.
themanishere4 1 year ago
@bogdancomm As to the Aztecs no one is claiming they were "perfect", as no human beings are without flaws. However, again German academic Peter Hassler showed in his work "Lies of the Conquistadors" that no hard evidence exists of an alleged "institutionalized mass human sacrifice" among the Aztecs. Again all that exists are Conquistador propaganda accounts, Inquisition "testimony" given under torture like Diego de Landa, and again weakest of all artwork.
themanishere4 1 year ago
@bogdancomm Again such artwork could contain myths, allegories, or legends and it certainly is not "proof" of any alleged "human sacrifice" among the Aztecs; as we don't know the destroyed Aztecs understanding of these arts. Such artwork exists in Christian literature about "sacrifice" and again there are many works in medieval Europe that show artwork depicting Jews "sacrificing" Christian babies. Except seen Jews "won" this is called "blood libel" whereas the Aztecs lost and can't rebuttal.
themanishere4 1 year ago
@themanishere4 the aztec artworks depicting sacrifices could have a lots of meanings and we don't know them. but there's no doubt the mesoamerican populations practiced the human sacrifices. the spanish authories were bureacratic and we have documents in wich they ban the human sacrifice. if this practice hasn't existed, the spaniards wouldn't have felt the need to sanction it. nobody adopts a law if it won't be necessary, am I right? the aztecs really did sacrificed humans... no offense...
bogdancomm 1 year ago
@bogdancomm The Spanish Conquistadors certainly would push the myth that the Aztecs allegedly carried out "mass human sacrifice" as this would be propaganda for declaring the Aztecs and other Indigenous peoples as "heathens" who allegedly deserved to be killed. Most killers and occupiers make up such things about those they oppressed to help put their minds at ease about their crimes.

@bogdancomm Regarding how the Spanish Conquistadors used propaganda see the 16th century Spanish Dominican priest and first Bishop of Chiapas Bartolome de las Casas who was sympathetic to the plight of the oppressed Indigenous people and spoke of the Spanish Conquistador crimes and the system of exploitation the Spanish colonialist invaders were setting up in Mesoamerica for the "glory" and "riches" (theft) to go to Spain.
themanishere4 1 year ago
@bogdancomm Lastly about why the Spanish authorities would pass "laws" against alleged "human sacrifice" (if it were not real) this is easily explained once you considered the Spanish authorities (often times Inquisition officials) and the types of beliefs they held and other issues they dealt with. These are the same kind of Spanish officials who claimed there was a huge alleged demonic conspiracy of female witches who were having sex with the devil and such! There beliefs don't prove anything
themanishere4 1 year ago
@themanishere4 man... I don't get it: why are you defending the aztecs? they really did sacrifice humans. look at their artworks... listen to their OWN legends... lots of nahuatl speakers can tell you stories about human sacrifices. I'm not talking about spanish propaganda here. of course the spaniards were bad, but this is not the point...
beside, there must be a good reason God abandoned the aztecs at the mercy of the conquistadors: 100 times worse than them! God does not make mistakes...
bogdancomm 1 year ago
@bogdancomm You saying something doesn't allegedly make it "true"! If you want a real academic read just google the name Peter Hassler (again a German academic) and "Lies of the Conquistadors". There is absolutely zero real hard "evidence" of any alleged mass Aztec "human sacrifice". The artwork is not "evidence", the only alleged Indigenous "confessions" come from tortured people or later converted Christians, and the only alleged "eyewitnesses" are lying Conquistadors 3 miles away del Castillo
themanishere4 1 year ago
@bogdancomm As for your claims about alleged Nahuatl "stories" care to give a source?! Yes the Spanish conquers tried to brainwash the post-conquest Indigenous peoples into hating their ancestors this again proves nothing. An interesting point on Nahuatl;

Humans have free will and sometimes evil people succeed in this world; believing in God means that God will judge in the end.
themanishere4 1 year ago
@bogdancomm Also since you seem to like social Darwinist logic (and yet also claim a belief in a god) how do you explain innocent young children that die?! Did God allegedly "curse" and "punish" innocent young boys and girls who never did anything wrong yet still fall victim to say a disease which takes their lives? Did God also back the Nazis when they killed around 6 million Jews and others?! Again humans have free will, also the Spanish were far more brutal again see Spanish Inquisition etc
themanishere4 1 year ago
@themanishere4 dude, God does not make mistakes! God is not evil... God simply has nothing to do with this world. He is helping EXCLUSIVELY his chosen persons, that's all. if won't be a chosen one... then you must obey the darwinist laws. nature is nature dude. and the strong species survive and the weak species disapear: this is naked truth. spanish soldiers were better and they won; what's the big deal? yet, there are situations when the law of the nature fail. could be God? up to you dude...
bogdancomm 1 year ago
@bogdancomm No one is claiming that God allegedly made mistakes, your the one who seems claim belief in God but also absurdly adopted social Darwinist logic which is against the idea of a merciful and loving God. So what makes your logic different than say that of Adolf Hitler and the Nazis?! The Nazis did invent a whole lot of stuff see V-2 rocket, started the war on cancer, and so many others. The Nazis also were so close to winning WWII against huge odds, so you would've supported Nazis?!
themanishere4 1 year ago
@themanishere4 God is not making police in this world. He just help some people... please notice: I said "some"... If you won't be among that "some", do not expect something from God: good or bad. you won't even notice God exists. speaking about this world we live in... well Darwin point it the best: it's do or die! you wanna be part of this world? good, do it! be the best... be the alpha dog! train yourself because it won't be easy... but remember: every dog has its day ;)
bogdancomm 1 year ago
@themanishere4 now let's get back to our topic, shall we? the aztecs terrorized the entire central america. wow! they were the best... but one day few people far better than them: the spaniards, landed and in less than 3 years erased them! the spanish soldiers were better trained, better equiped and had a superior battle discipline. where is God??? He had no part in this war... He simply turned His face off. the aztecs lived like war dogs... and died like war dogs! every dog has its day ;)
bogdancomm 1 year ago
@bogdancomm So any battle God is allegedly choosing a "side"?! Most religions state that humans have free will and we will be judged on what we do with said free will. Again using logic that you seemed to be trying to employ earlier on (you seemed to be claiming God allegedly "supported" the Spanish conquistadors) any criminal that succeeds in their crime could simply turn around and claim God supported them in their criminal endeavor. Yet no religion would support you on this!
themanishere4 1 year ago
@themanishere4 God has nothing to do with any war. this is a human job. God is protecting EXCUSIVELY... please note: EXCLUSIVELY, His chosen persons. well, looks like aztecs were not in the God's grace. they did horrible things and horrible things happened to them. and it was NOT God bringing their doom... they simply doomed themselves. in the same situation was the people of Japan: a backward nation. but they understood the danger and recoverd extremly fast! now they are a strong nation...
bogdancomm 1 year ago
@bogdancomm Your logic is very flawed in so many different ways. So do you believe God is allegedly supporting some empires and not others or what?! Japan has a long history of empires and fought very well in the beginning of WWII in particular. As to the Aztecs there civilization rivaled anything in Europe of that time, again it was only the germs that decimated the Aztecs and led the Spanish (along with those they had got to work for them as puppets in divide and conquer) to victory.
themanishere4 1 year ago
@themanishere4 what I'm trying to tell you is that the clash between the aztecs and the spaniards were a pure natural fight. no God. not a single divine intervention. nothing! the spaniards won because they mastered the art of war here; in Europe. biological warfare was not intended, but it just happened. and it helped Cortez to win the siege of Tenochtitlan. Cortez won because he was ruthless, merciless, evil, but a damn fine military strategist. God did not helped him. but neither the aztecs!
bogdancomm 1 year ago
@themanishere4 let's make it clear once for all: God is not involed in this world! this is a natural world and, as Darwin excelently point it; the most adapted species is to survive. the aztecs were not adapted. everybody feared, but nobody loved them. their way full of blood and violence were so hated, that all of their neighbours rushed to help Cortez to wipe them out! God simply turned His face away from the carnage. God did't helped Cortez... the aztecs' neighbours did it !
bogdancomm 1 year ago
@bogdancomm Your theological claims are weird so I will just leave them alone, as long as you don't try to claim from an absurd angle that the Spanish genocide of the Natives was allegedly "blessed" by God. The Conquistador invaders again only won because the Aztec people were so thoroughly destroyed and weakened by the Spanish invaders germs that they couldn't fight back effectively.
themanishere4 1 year ago
@bogdancomm As to your claims about alleged Aztec "brutality" they are without any truth, as shown again by German academic Peter Hassler in his "Lies of the Conquistadors", and were created by these same brutal Spaniards to justify their genocide, conquest, and exploitation of the Indigenous peoples of Mesoamerica. The true brutal ones were the Spanish with their Inquisition, torture devices, and war crimes! Europeans were good at divide and conquer, and they turned even on their "allies" later
themanishere4 1 year ago
@themanishere4 "As to your claims about alleged Aztec "brutality" they are without any truth" yes, because they were living in a utopia before the big bad europeans came. their warrior traditions were all for show, they used to settle their differences with dance battles. this is all just the whining of the conquered.
BillKiernan 10 months ago
@bogdancomm As to if I think the Aztecs were "nice". They were certainly better than the Europeans who killed them, colonized them, raped them, and stole their land and resources for their own "Spanish Empire". Again all your charges against the Aztecs are without evidence and those who you support against them have their hands soaked with much more blood. See again Spanish Inquisition, European medieval "witch" burning, European medieval torture devices, Roman gladiators, and on and on!
themanishere4 1 year ago
@themanishere4 I give up man... no point to explain to you what the history and archaeology didn't manage to make you understand; during times the healthy cultures never collapsed! the europeans are a greedy race: that's true! but, as a good example, they never managed to subdue the chinese people; the chinese repelled the european riflemen with ancient crossbows! when a people really believe its tradition is right and fair, it won't collapse. no matter how strong or shrewd the invaders are...
bogdancomm 1 year ago
@bogdancomm "they never managed to subdue the chinese people" they sure as hell did. never heard of the opium wars i guess? china was raped and divided up by european powers for quite some time. "the europeans are a greedy race" as opposed to the native empires who spread their empires by singing songs and handing out flowers i guess?
BillKiernan 10 months ago
@BillKiernan as far as I know: during the opium wars China lost only the Hong Kong... indeed the chinese use to call that period "the century of humiliation" because basically they lost on the battlefield and were imposed unfair trading agreements... but in the end the chinese recovered...
no empire spreaded with flowers... that's why I should never have an army... lol... you would see with your own eyes how greedy a real european could be. Darth Vader would be just a little kid...
bogdancomm 10 months ago
@bogdancomm during the late 1800's china was divided up into "spheres of influence" by russia, england, france, germany, and japan. it wasn't just hong kong, the whole country was totally under the boots of foreign control, the majority of which was western control. they were totally subdued. enough with the "greedy european" stuff. humans are greedy. europeans found themselves at a ridiculously high technological advantage and capitalized on it (cont.)
BillKiernan 10 months ago
@bogdancomm (cont.) if native empires had that technology and ability to mobilize troops across entire oceans, they may very well have done the same thing, being that they already used force to position themselves at the top of the food chain in their own lands. humans are pretty despicable, and inventing fairy tale scenarios where the gentle natives were overcome by the Orc-like purely evil white outsiders is really foolish and just shows envy on the side of the conquered.

@themanishere4 "They were certainly better than the Europeans who killed them" why where they better?
BillKiernan 10 months ago
@bogdancomm Again the Spanish only won because they happened to get lucky with the germs they brought with them (on their bodies). The germs are what weakened the Aztecs, the Spanish Conquistador invaders would've been destroyed easily if the Aztecs had actually been full strength but obviously its hard to fight when your population is suffering from a massive epidemic of new diseases. As to brutality check out Spanish Inquisition, Roman gladiators, European torture devices, "witch" burning, etc
themanishere4 1 year ago
@themanishere4 man did you really read some history? the tlaxcalans fought side by side with the spanish soldiers, how comes they didn't get infected by the new germs? and it's not true the aztecs were weakened... the europeans were weakened after "la noche trista"!!! in the battle of Otumba the aztecs were more healthy and far more stronger than the conquaistadors! yet the superior discipline and the strategical skills of Cortez turned the outcome of the battle in the favor of the spaniards...
bogdancomm 1 year ago

Dostoyevsky said: "The degree of civilization, the prisoners may be seen." This is our modern world from this perspective is very poor.

alefeb1 1 year ago
@alefeb1 Which girl?
cafecon2 1 year ago
@alefeb1 it is a fabricated myth, there was never any sacrifice performed in anahuak ( mexico ), This myth was made up because historians found a statue of a man wearing what seemed to be skin of others....but that piece is Xipe Totek, which represents birth and rebirth a manifestation as the spring equinox....' The dumb ass historians do not know how to interpret our culture.
but again, there was no sacrifice done, specially not for the sun to be able to rise again, that is ridiculous!
MEXIKAYOTL2012 1 year ago
@MEXIKAYOTL2012 Great points friend, its sickening how history is written by the victor and racist Eurocentric liars dominate the Western academic fields of studying pre-conquest Mesoamerican history. It would be much like having non-Jewish German people studying the Nazi genocide of Jews, Gypsies, and others during WWII. The Native people also continue to face oppression and poverty in ghettos created by the white European invaders descendants till this day. Victory for the Indigenous!
themanishere4 1 year ago
No sacrifice? Tell that to the archaeologists who dragged skeletons out of the sacred cenote at Chichen Itza, or to the hundreds of people who have seen the murals of Bonampak, or how about you look in the surviving codices. Sacrifice wasn't barbaric, it was a sacred duty to the gods. Judging by the actions of people who still follow the old ways, the gods still like sacrifice, but are willing to make do with bloodletting and chickens instead of human sacrifice.
TheLastMexicatl 1 year ago
@TheLastMexicatl, that's where you are wrong my brother. archeologist have yet to dig up a skeleton whom died of natural cause! it has all been labeled as sacrifice.
if that is the case, that means the city of tenochtitlan would have been self destructed in less than a year. ( Taking into consideration the amount of sacrifice they claim there was) as for bonampak, those murals were forced to be created by euro spanish priests after the conquest there. plus, our ancestors didn't have GODS....
MEXIKAYOTL2012 1 year ago
@TheLastMexicatl, not sure where you are getting your information brother, but we as an indigenous people, do not have GODS,.and sacrifice for the sake of the sun to rise again is ridiculous, how can a people who's priority is to follow space and time and the movement of the cosmos, think that blood of humans would make the sun rise again!!! The sacrifice agenda came from Cortez and Del Castillo from a letter to King Charles, claiming they saw it happen 3 miles away!!??? hmmm 3 miles away?????
MEXIKAYOTL2012 1 year ago
Look at the modern day beliefs of the Lacandon Maya. Blood sacrifice to multiple gods still occurs. They have pulled skeletons out of the Sacred Cenote at Chichen Itza, and incense cakes in the shape of hearts. The Popol Vuh of the Quiche states man was created to offer sacrifice, devotion, and honor to the gods. While there may not be a one to one translation of the word for "god" in Quiche, Itza, or Nahuatl, I think god is a good word for a divine being who is worshiped by a group of people.
TheLastMexicatl 1 year ago
@MEXIKAYOTL2012 nonsense. there is vast evidence of human sacrifice in "aztec" civilization. it's great to be proud, but not if you have to engage in inventing alternate realities to keep that pride alive. don't fall into the trap "afrocentric" types do. civilizations have good and bad sides, accept both.
BillKiernan 10 months ago
@BillKiernan , well its funny how you say there is vast evidence, but you provided none of it.
MEXIKAYOTL2012 10 months ago
@MEXIKAYOTL2012 , again you provide no evidence, rather just hang on to the " so called fact " that it existed just because a so called archeologist claims it . " After careful and systematic study of the sources, I find no sign of evidence of institutionalized mass human sacrifice among the aztecs. The phenomenon to be studied, therefore, may not be these supposed sacrifices, but the deeply rooted belief that they occurred" -Dr Peter Hassler
MEXIKAYOTL2012 10 months ago
@MEXIKAYOTL2012 "Dr Peter Hassler" cool! you have one guy! i can tell by the other thing's you've said, most of your information comes from this one man's work. so when we see native mexica statuary depicting human sacrifice, codices, etc. what are we to make of them? god forbid mexicas were fucked up humans like the rest of us right?
BillKiernan 10 months ago
@BillKiernan Your a fool. All the "statues" and "codices" your speaking of are post-conquest creations of the Spanish conquistador colonialist officials ruling "New Spain" (Mexico). For example the "codices" you speak of were created under the control of a Catholic official named Bernardino de Sahagun. Also the Catholic Inquisition torture was brought by the evil Spanish invaders to "New Spain" (Mexico). The Spanish controlled these productions (like the Codex Rios or Codex Mendoza).

@MEXIKAYOTL2012 so all the archelogists and palentologists and historians that verify the large body of evidence that your ancestors, and the natives of south america, etc practiced human sacrifice are all a part of a grand conspiracy against you. do you realize how silly you sound?
BillKiernan 10 months ago
@BillKiernan No, not silly at all. If you actually study it, rather than just run with what someone tells you , then you will see the truth. The notion or agenda of sacrifice came from the mouth of 2 people. Hernan Cortez and Bernal Del Castillo, both of whom were/are responsible for the annihilation of all the beauty that was/is the indigenous native culture. In Cortez book " letter from Mexico, he wrote to King Charles claiming to see a sacrifice , yet they were seperated by 3 miles of water

Yet with the Aztecs and Mayas they are still powerless peasants and have no access to academia and are "losers".
themanishere4 9 months ago
@themanishere4 "Do you also believe Jews sacrificed Christian babies in medieval Europe!" no because there's no evidence of it, but rather evidence that it was all contrived. maybe you should let your friends at Hezbollah know that though, they still believe that shit. Also the 17th century Mufti Khayr al-Din al-Ramli (1585-1671) wrote in Arabic in his work al-Fatawa al-Khayriyah "Filastin biladuna" which means "Palestine our home". As you seem like a Zionist.

In Mexico Mayas and others are basically just peasant farmers thus they can't defend themselves from lies.
themanishere4 9 months ago
@BillKiernan There is zero "physical evidence", where exactly are all the bones from these alleged "sacrifices"?! All Eurocentric "academics" (working to excuse their white demon ancestor's crimes) do is see a few bones near a historical site and absurdly yell "human sacrifice"! For example bones that appear to have been "cut" prove nothing, for example in Tantric Buddhism even today they cut bones of the deceased to make wooden instruments for rituals. Do you believe Buddhists do "sacrifices"?!
themanishere4 9 months ago
@themanishere4 "All Eurocentric "academics" (working to excuse their white demon ancestor's crimes)" ah yes, it's a vast conspiracy...."in Tantric Buddhism even today they cut bones of the deceased to make wooden instruments for rituals" yes, they make skull cups and thigh bone trumpets, not sites with intact bodies showing signs of ritual sacrifice, as you find in mexico.
BillKiernan 9 months ago
@BillKiernan Care to provide any "evidence" for your repeating of claims made by Eurocentric "academics". And the people you claim as "Mexica" people that claim alleged "human sacrifice" occurred are all Spanish invaders and not indigenous people: these are the modern "Mexicans" you are speaking of. The indigenous people of Mexico (like the Mayans and Aztecs) are still till this day the poorest and most oppressed segment of Mexican society which has white Spaniards on top.

Religion makes you do radical stuff
uncleruckus714 10 months ago
@uncleruckus714 I agree fully. i'm just arguing with those who want to make up a fantasy version of history where the native americans lived in peace together singing kumbaya by the fireside. there are a few on here trying to say human sacrifice is a pure myth made up by the conquistadors, when you have even native anthropologists, archaeologists, etc verifying that it indeed did happen, through south and central america. but yes, i agree with you fully.
BillKiernan 10 months ago
@BillKiernan Also just one of the many absurdities and impossibilities in the mythical, fake stories of alleged Aztec "human sacrifice" is the absurd claim about ripping out hearts of "victims"! The Aztecs could never have done this with the tools available to them, the heart is protected by the sternum and to get through it modern doctors need to use modern medical tools like "bone saws" if don't have this you can't get through.
themanishere4 9 months ago

TheLastMexicatl 9 months ago
If not from these codices and manuscripts, WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU GETTING YOUR INFORMATION FROM!?! How the hell would we know ANYTHING about Aztec culture and society?
HoundofOdin 7 months ago

An overrated aspect of the empire. Besides the institutionalized killings of those who opposed the church of barbaric europe were far worse.

well the true is that no one know where the aztecs came from, so what they said about the princess it wasnt true, and that they kill people to take out the heart they just did with the enemy not with their own poeple, and it wasnt a ritual...!!!
