That same time Nu Shooz's song was on the charts, Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac had a solo hit with the same title. Vanessa Williams did a great job with this song that sampled a classic 1980s dance hit!

i think its just you...i doubt beyonce has ever seen this video...just being honest, its not like it was a big hit...plus apart from them being light skinned and having long, straight fair hair i dont see any other likeness....i think the comparision is just shallow....they act nothing alike at all...i doubt beyonce is particularly inspired by vanessa or got 'alot' of inspiration from her...she has never stated that she likes vanessa....

Vanessa Williams was the Beyonce of the 80s and Beyonce, Kelly and all their friends jammed to Vanessa's cuts on Video Soul after school everyday and I guarentee you B say all Vanessa's videos like most of black America that watched BET and followed Vanessa's public debacle from Miss America.

This song was written and produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis who wrote the lyrics in 20 minutes. When she met with the duo, she told them that she wanted to be happy, so Terry went into the studio and came up with the lyrics, while Jimmy worked on the music. This song should have been a bigger hit.

I know I remember when Nu Shooz released I Can't Wait. I was in Junior High and I'm glad Vanessa sampled this for this song. It's amazing how Terry Lewis came up with the lyrics in only 20 minutes.
