This is a no-brainer. The Suburban is a heavier vehicle, which helps it to grip better when pulling on dry pavement. Plus, the Suburban may have Autotrac 4wd, which engages 4wd automatically.

@csus17 that is actually incorrect, the first chevrolet suburban was used as patty wagons back in the day, they were used for milk deliverys and such....in the 70s and 80s they were the heavy duty big towing capability truck that people needed, since their was no F350 or Ram 3500 so people used suburbans, then in the early 90s, the government started to use the diesel suburbans for goverment use..they stoped using them in the military because of the gas engine...

If I'm not mistaken, any truck--whether it's made by Ford, GM, Chrysler, Toyota, WHOMEVER--usually requires more meticulous maintenance than a car. I've read that earlier Toyota Tundras had camshaft? problems, and Toyotas are revered as reliable vehicles. So, my point is, ANY make of car can give you problems. They're all manmade, and manmade stuff will malfunction.
Suburban has 6 nuts on a wheel which is a 1/2 ton truck. I will surprise if Ford won. I believe it is a 4 by 4 Suburban, with locking differential, with 3.73 axle ratio, with 300+hp and it is heavier than any 1/2 ton truck. This vehicle should be tested against F-250.

@Mrusernameify That's a monetary issue; it has nothing to do with the reliability of the trucks. I have not seen a single Ford F150 hit 200,000 miles without a rebuild of some major component. My 97 suburban is about to hit 220,000. And atop that, I have seen 300,000 mile GM trucks. I have much more faith in their reliability than ford. I saw the interior of one and on the dashboard of the newer ones, it says "L" and "H", as in low to high, on the gauges. WTF. So useless.

what exactly can go wrong within a cylinder that is "just something minor" .. please explain.. something minor is the power window stopped working or the 4 wheel drive light wont go off even when its in 2wd, replacing/repairing something in a cylinder is not something "minor" sorry, and by the definition of perfect, weather it was minor like the things i mentioned or major like a cracked piston or something, either way its still not "perfect"

The only expedition I'd pit against this Suburban would be the new 09 and up since they're longer. The majority of Expeditions are only as long as Tahoes, and some Suburbans are 3/4 ton. So I would pit the Excursion against a 2500 Suburban with the 8.1L in it, and a Tahoe against an Expedition. Yeah, I think that would be most fair.
Actually, they came out with the Expedition EL in 2007....but other than that I agree on some points, but the 2500 burb doesn't have a full-floating rear diff unless optioned out for one...the Excursion with the V10 and the Burb with the 8.1 and the FF would be a good match up.
I am totally oblivious thte the fact the Expedition was available with a longer body in 2007, then again I don't pay too much attention to SUVs, mainly trucks since I own one and intend on modding it up a bit. But I agree with everything you said.

I know a few people who have the 90's model suburbans and the trucks are close to if not over 300,000 miles and still running strong. One of the guys used his to pull a moving truck out of a muddy front lawn.

Well... The 07 F-150 comes with a 4.6 V8 and is pushing around 250 HP at 4700 RPM. The 2009 Suburban comes with a 6.0 V8 pushing about 350 HP at 5400 RPM. The 2007, though in this case, comes with a 5.3V8 and is pushing around 310HP at 5400RPM.

If I'm not mistaken, any truck--whether it's made by Ford, GM, Chrysler, Toyota, WHOMEVER--usually requires more meticulous maintenance than a car. I've read that earlier Toyota Tundras had camshaft? problems, and Toyotas are revered as reliable vehicles. So, my point is, ANY make of car can give you problems. They're all manmade, and manmade stuff will malfunction.
On another note, gotta love the Ford F-Series.

Suburban has 6 nuts on a wheel which is a 1/2 ton truck. I will surprise if Ford won. I believe it is a 4 by 4 Suburban, with locking differential, with 3.73 axle ratio, with 300+hp and it is heavier than any 1/2 ton truck. This vehicle should be tested against F-250.

@Mrusernameify That's a monetary issue; it has nothing to do with the reliability of the trucks. I have not seen a single Ford F150 hit 200,000 miles without a rebuild of some major component. My 97 suburban is about to hit 220,000. And atop that, I have seen 300,000 mile GM trucks. I have much more faith in their reliability than ford. I saw the interior of one and on the dashboard of the newer ones, it says "L" and "H", as in low to high, on the gauges. WTF. So useless.

Whatever. As long as you maintain fords they will last just as long as anybody else. My dads 98 f150 went to 194,000 before he sold it. Only thing that ever went wrong was the something with the cylinder, and i think that was like 600 bucks. Otherwise NOTHING it ran PERFECT even the day we sold it. Now he has an 08 f150. 30k miles and nothing.

The only expedition I'd pit against this Suburban would be the new 09 and up since they're longer. The majority of Expeditions are only as long as Tahoes, and some Suburbans are 3/4 ton. So I would pit the Excursion against a 2500 Suburban with the 8.1L in it, and a Tahoe against an Expedition. Yeah, I think that would be most fair.

Actually, they came out with the Expedition EL in 2007....but other than that I agree on some points, but the 2500 burb doesn't have a full-floating rear diff unless optioned out for one...the Excursion with the V10 and the Burb with the 8.1 and the FF would be a good match up.

Absolutely right. Traction is what it takes. if you have enough power to turn the wheels, extra power won't help if you are just spinning.
You could take a 3/4 ton 4x4 truck with some weight in the bed, and win a tug of war against a bobtail Peterbuilt truck in a grassy field. The Pete would have little traction. Weight the Pete down and put it on concrete, and it would get a train rolling.

I know a few people who have the 90's model suburbans and the trucks are close to if not over 300,000 miles and still running strong. One of the guys used his to pull a moving truck out of a muddy front lawn.

Well... The 07 F-150 comes with a 4.6 V8 and is pushing around 250 HP at 4700 RPM. The 2009 Suburban comes with a 6.0 V8 pushing about 350 HP at 5400 RPM. The 2007, though in this case, comes with a 5.3V8 and is pushing around 310HP at 5400RPM.
