  • ムーディー・ブルースに駄作無し、スレショウルドの始動”夢幻”、ジャスティン・ヘイワードの一二を争う叙情チューン"Never Comes The Day"

  • the Moodies!! and not in the R & R Hall of Fame - well maybe the Hall doesn't deserve them.

  • look the twoazzholes in front talking during this magnificent show.....i would almost anything to see that...

  • Definitely sung live. Unequivocal...

  • whatever became of mike pinder?

  • Comment removed

  • never....

    ever........

    comes the day....

    ever

  • "...there s no point in trying to get Justin Hayward to leap about on stage. Pete Townshend can do it better all the time. When Justin gets worked up he taps his foot." Graeme Edge to journalist in 1973.

the Moody Blues - a class act for over 45 years. Welcome to 2012 boys!

Thank you so much. a fan since 1967.

  • @kloudzjia Oh, yeah, oh, yeah!!

  • Oh how I love this version of Never Comes the Day. Justin's vocals are definitely live and so very fine

  • @MinnesotaNice64 You do know this is not a real live show don't you? Made just for TV in France and lypsinc entirely for the concert, all of it. All prerecorded. I can send you songs from this venue where the song fades like an album or CD. They DON'T do that on live versions and I saw them back in 71, this is not live in any manor

  • justin is singing live. definitely and brilliant. totally agreed auspete.

  • This is definitely a live (and brilliant) Justin vocal to a pre-recorded backing. Phrasing is different to the released recording on nearly every line. Ray's harp is live too. This French TV show has its shortcomings but it's wonderful to see the band in colour videotape quality of this era.

  • I noticed that , when they use a backing track, even in our days, Justin usually changes the lyrics a bit so they show that he is really singing live...

    ..

  • The Moodies were just fantastic from day 1. Because they made music and produced LP's, not pop music, they hardly were on tv and their fan base grew through the undergound.

That's how I came to hear them, Lost Chord' grabbed me and that was it. Never saw them on telly and so what? They didn't need it. Great musicians all, great lyrics and production values

to die for ....Play a Moodies album, headphones and dark room ( no drugs!) and that's the

best 'high' I ever got, Live long & prosper lv

  • wow...

  • Without doubt one of my favourite moody blues , i bought the single when it was released,i loved it then as a teenager and still love it now, thank you .

  • I think the electric guitar was dubbed in later, but they may have had a backup guitar player in the wings. I saw them several years ago. They had a slew of backup musicians. This is a great quality video.

  • mel·lo·tron/ˈmeləˌträn/

    Noun:

An electronic keyboard instrument in which each key controls the playback of a single prerecorded musical sound.

  • Such a Gift! Pax

  • finally we understand what people is shouting at the end of the performance. "une autre" - one more (another one) . thanks wwwonderful.

  • " une autre! une autre ! "

    - Les Anglais scandent ' Encore!"

  • Semi-live I think. The vocals sound live but Justin is somehow managing to play a 12 string and an electric lead guitar at once!

  • R.I.P. Sly cat you always purred to the Moodies. Martmaska5 told me tonight. Bye my baby.

  • PUCHA ME SIENTO EMOCIONADO DE ESCUCHAR ESTA MUSICA QUE POR PRIMERA VEZ INGRESA A MI CABEZA. LA HISTORIA QUE ESTOY ARMANDO EN MI BLOG ESTA SUMAMENTE INTERESANTE. DE PENSAR QUE SOLO CONOCIA THE VOICE DEL 81

  • The Moody Bluse !! Beautiful !!

    この若かりし頃のジャスティンは,美しい楽曲才能と風貌を合わせ持ってた。

    しかも寡黙で控えめな人柄で,真摯に美しい♪創作に魂を捧げてた。

    upされた御方に感謝致します。

  • Brings back many memories as a kid.My Dad got me into the Moody Blues and I'll never forget how he would play their music and tell me hope deep the music is.Now I see all those things and realize how.Music today is lost and has gone commercial and only a few artist out there play anything real anymore.

  • listen to those STRINGS! SOOO SWEET!

  • @icon7888 No strings attached. Melotron.

  • @xeuropn Are u kidding me by saying there are no strings in this song? That's got to be untrue! While using the Mellotron, they still had to pre-record their strings! Isn't that right or what? I wouldn't know, to tell you the truth! I STILL love their strings!

  • @icon7888 You're right. The melotron was one big tape recorder, played expertly by Mike Pinder. He was one of the few, if anyone else, that ever played one. On the DVD Live at the Isle of Wight Festival, Mike explains how it worked and it shows the inside of the instrument. Justin talks about how his songs were converted into melotron tunes to enhance his works.Real cool.

  • @xeuropn Thanks for the insight! I love the Moody Blues & their music, of course! I haven´t got the dvd of that fest. Wish I did, though! :)

  • @xeuropn Pinder played it well, but he was far from the only one who used a Mellotron. They were manufactured by several firms, including EMI, and more than one model was produced.

  • I think this is definitely live, the studio version sounds different.

  • This was in the era when rock turned from ritual dance music into a true art form. Everything is understated and put together so well. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and all the parts are really done very well in there own rights. Amazing to thing that the group started as a blues band.

  • It's justins progression and that fucking bass riff that follows that just captures your attention

  • I think it´s true that old rockers never die , this song still sounds fresh and present.

  • Blimey. I think I've fallen in love all over again.

  • I was a high school senior in 1970 and The moody blues along with the Beatle's song Hey Jude were number one on the music charts! Sorry..just can't get into

Beiber fever..even if I was in my teens. Music now is mostly a big joke.

  • R&R Hall of Fame=IDIOTS!!!!

  • @redsunflower67 There is no doubt this is live. Nobody can lip sinc or use body language so precisely, and Justin is using his 12-string. They performed many of their hits at this French club. I am disappointed that I did not buy all the Moody's albums until 7th Sojourn. I had no idea this song and others were out there so many years before. I did not become entralled until The Story in Your Eyes began playing on a Juke Box at a popular haunt. Then I began recalling their songs.

  • I was 19 had my own place and a girlfriend named Robin I was so in love with, we'd play this album over and over. Now when I hear it those times come rushing back so strong I wonder if it's some kind of time machine

  • Seen them in Dallas in 71

  • Seen the in Dallas in 71

  • For a live performance the mix is incredible. Still my favorite group after all these years...

  • ♥♥♥Happy 65th Birthday Justin! ♥♥♥

  • words to look through...at 59, I finally get it!The Moody Blues are a phenomena...

  • My first impression was that the crowd was chanting "Seesaw"?

  • Though Cloudjia has closed his/her account I just want to say...I am French and have always favored the British Bands of the 60s and 70s over anyone else, ESPECIALLY The Moody Blues. I could go on. But it's not about being French or of any national origin. Good Music is Universal. Music touches everyone and if you are blessed to understand the beautiful lyrics you are that much richer for it!!! Keep on Rocking!

  • Oh, to have been there...

Just saw them for the first two shows on this tour, and I'm grateful to see what I can while they still want to perform. I wish this song was still in the set list, but hopefully it will come around again.

It definitely looks and sound live.

  • No matter what is happening in the world around us, listening to the Moody Blues just makes you feel good. Thank you guys for your beautiful music.

  • @threshold60 You're absolutely right!!

  • These dudes rule, and I saw the most current Moodies back in 2010 at the Universal Orlando Hard Rock Live and they were just as good to see and listen to. About time the Moody Blues got inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame I must say.

  • Wow that small audience was really treated to a Great band in 1970. Justin H. great voice obviously, and great guitarist. You have to ask yourself the question, at least I do, why is this band not in the Rock N roll Hall of Fame. I now understand, their lyrics were profound causing you to think deeper and ask hard questions of the reality they we are forced to endure from a system that may not be just. They will always have my respect...for what it's worth

  • at the end of the song, what are the crowd yelling?

  • is there any such thing as a bad Moodies' song????????

  • @rayofsams one or two mediocre ones, which is bad by their usually high standards

  • Jesus is the one I had to run to, as much as l love you. He loves you more. Ask him to show you truth and come into your heart.

  • what a Voice!

  • Classic song.. Beautiful!

  • Obviously live vocals (and harmonica) against the prerecorded tracks of the record. Especially since it fades out at the end!

  • Well, all cuteness aside, he's still the most underrated voice of our time. And I really think he's found the answers to the questions.

  • I remember waking up with them playing at the isle of wight festival 1969

  • Another great song I forgot about. Just saw the moodies live for the first time. Two things that struck me: how low key Justin is on stage, despite being a huge star; and what a good bass player john lodge is. He is a monster on the level with McCartney and some of the other greats. They put on a great show.

  • @cloudjia Maybe I'm shallow too lol, he's gorgeous!

  • I also own this video concert...I can say that after watching it only once, that it was almost entirely lip-synced...as was the most case for T.V shows ...There are soooo many give-aways that show this...Still..I bought it for the antiquity and a video record of how the Moodys were in the early days...they will always be a very unique band..never to be copied..!!

  • Back then all of the MBs were babes! Just look at John's butt and Ray's beautiful big green eyes! And then there's Justin, who's still a very handsome gentleman. Drool...

  • @cloudjia

You're not shallow, you're observant. Justin is the most beautiful man on earth!

  • cant imagine them not being in the hall of fame.... give me a break.. they were ahead of their time. I saw them in concerrt in the 70s when i was in high school.... awesome!!!

  • Saw The Moodies live about a dozen years ago.... fantastic!

  • @telsonboy I saw them in Reno last month. Hadn't seen them in over a decade. Totally moving music. They're still awesome !!!

  • F'in Awesome ! What else can you say !

  • @cloudjia I totally agree!!

  • Let me tell you a true story. Saw the Moodys in '69. At a break I ran into Timothy Leary and we rapped for a while. When the Moodys returned Timothy Leary was on stage and performed Timothy Leary's Dead along with the group. Leary, singing and dancing. Hugging Mike Pinder. What a memory.

  • ...REAL music, REAL moments....who in their right might could even THINK of cRAP like Eminem and Tea...THIS is MUSIC. Rap is Crap

  • they just let me come back and feel the oneness of everything

  • just love them

  • Nobody like them! I've enjoyed them since "Go Now" back in 66.

Even though the band has changed members over the years, they stay true to their sound. Thanks for posting.

  • Saw them last month for the second time. They still have it! Especially Justin. He gets better with age! Missed Ray though. The show was fantastic and can't wait to see them again. Justin you are truly a dream and a true talent.

  • @TroubleJD

Maybe you are an attorney? Oh man I am jealous of your experience. YouTube has reinvigorated my adulation of Justin and the Moodys. I am an old school LP/cassette fan who has reconnected with the Moodys by way of YouTube. It is remarkable that after listening to Never Comes the Day and their other tunes hundreds of times without video, I can now appreciate that their live performances are carbon copies of their studio productions. I mean they get it down to every, "Uh Huh." .

  • I have this concert on dvd and I'm pretty sure most of the music is prerecorded. I was disappointed with that fact and felt cheated as it was promoted "live in Paris" They definitely have live mics though. Probably why so many down votes. It's not completely "live".

  • Typical MB song, equally disturbing and endearing somehow :)

  • WTF? 31 thumbs down? No wonder the world is going to hell.

  • @nachodaddy I tottaly agree with you!

  • AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET US FREE

  • Justin Hayward is really an angelic being. How else do you explain the amazing voice and songs?

  • Justin Hayward is really an angelic being. How else do you explain the amazing voice and songs.

  • Saw the Moodies in concert on May 13th. Justin was in good voice and is an extraordinary guitarist. John is all over the stage and sang well also. Graham recently turned 70 and said that he has been through the sixties twice, and doesn't remember a thing about either. "What happened!" They use another younger drummer who pounds away like Graham use to. I miss Ray Thomas so much. He and Justin penned so many classic Moodie songs. Whatever happened to Mike Pender? Only the Beatles rank above them.

  • The moody blues make my heart cry with joy!

  • MOODY BLUES 4 EVER!!!!!!

  • 31 people missed the "like button"

  • @beatlessexy They like Rebecca fucking Black...LOL

  • Nothing like old hippies.I was one in my younger years. Then i became a husband and a father. The responsibilities were more than i thought i could handle, but i did. The love from my children is something i could never have imagined.

  • It's not live nor are the vocals. This a prerecorded audio meant only for this performance meant to boost ticket sales. I've seen them twice back then and this is absolutely no a live vocal.

  • @brofranomo yes & no - Some of the vox are definitely live (even fed thru a little springline reverb so it sits better against the tapes), but the instruments.. well there's not even a lead coming out of John's bass.. and that lead guitar?

Having seen quite bit of this footage now I find it quite interesting, kinda Top Of The Tops type performances but with a bit of real singing over the top - pleasant & safe enough! But their real shows could be a little hit and miss even within the same set.

  • good rare footage of The Moody Blues Live which Mike Pinder backed up that in this early concert in Paris they the Lead vocals are live, some of the backup vocals ut they are singing to there music which they did in those days in the 60s and early 70s..and still do to this day sometimes on shows) Great old song Never comes the day with Justin Hayward live vocals..

  • @skillwho1 It's also was meant just for this TV/concert back then. If you go to all the other videos at this venue you will understand what I'm saying. What do you know about what went on in the 60's or 70's? You weren't alive then and certainly didn't see them back then. I did.

  • @brofranomo just for this concert with the Moody Blues..so the other videos at this venue in France at the time are more live than this was..fair enough that you lived through it and i wasn't alive till end of 1975..great that you got to see them live back then

  • I wish I had the wisdom of these songs when I was their age in this video....sigh

  • I met (briefly) the Moodies backstage at the Long Beach Auditorium in 1971, after a wonderful concert. I said to Justin, "Your music has enhanced my life, and I will listen to it as long as I live!" Justin smiled, shook my hand, and said, "Stay with us, mate!"

  • I couldn't have said it any better guig66 !

  • Live vocals and recorded music? They did a lot of that back then.

  • I miss bands who play to the spirit.

  • my dad told me never to forget this when i was younger and now at 33 hearing it again after a long while it totally understand RIP DADDY love you 3yrs on the 20th.always your PUMPKIN

  • I was born as this song was playing, high noon in May of '72. No kidding, in a cabin at 9,400 feet in the Colorado Rockies. Thank You Parents! Also, the Moodies were my first concert - Red Rocks Amphitheatre when I was 7. If ever there were a band for remembrance, these are they - my thoughts are with you, Porkified.

  • Good Night

  • TO: The Porkified, my wife is gone too. Many Moody's songs cause me to become misty eyed remembering the love she and I shared for so long. Like you, my wife was my life. And these guys music often causes me to pause and remember. Give just a little bit more, take a little bit less, from each other tonight. Keep that in mind, those of you who are still together. One of you will live to be glad you did. In loving memory of my Pat.

  • @firstpriorities1

Very sorry you lost you wife!

  • @firstpriorities1 THAT GREAT MY HAS ALSO GONE

  • @firstpriorities1 That is BEAUTIFUL. Very sorry about your wife.

  • JH is a vision from Heaven! He looks and sounds like an angel.

  • @pricla777 my goodness- you are smitten!

  • @kimberkley

    Can you blame me?!!!

Never saw a most beautiful man. I truly envy his wife. What can I say...

I remember the first time I heard "Nights in White Satin" at a Payless-Shoe-Store when I was only 10 or 11 (1968?). I was smitten then, still am!

  • @kimberkley

    I agree! JH is mesmerizing!

  • These guys still aren't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? What a disgrace.

  • I'm a 60-yr. old keyboardist in a prog-rock band of forty-somethings doing lots of covers from this era. I'm trying to get my bandmates to cover some Moodies, but they don't want to do music that their parent's like. I'm getting old :(

  • Although the singing does not sound dubbed, some of the music in this video was clearly (and sadly) dubbed. Mike Pinder is shown playing a Hammond organ, not his Mellotron MkII...but the sound is Mellotron, not organ. Bummer.

  • tho' they've had several greatest hits, once "This is the Moody Blues" found it's way into my hands I was hooked

  • Just take a moment to compare this to Lady Gaga and Ke$ha. Seriously.

  • @Caligulita Amen.

  • such a fine melody ! amazing moodies

  • The Moody Blues without Mike Pinder and Ray Thomas is like the Beatles without John Lennon and George Harrison. Just not the Moody Blues.

  • @BBQFanNo1 That's the truth! I saw them several months back and it was like watching some old guys trying to cover the moody Blues. Those days are gone.

  • I miss Mike Pinder but he moved on from them in 1978. Somehow the Moody Blues hit me with their soul unlike the Beatles,Rolling Stones, and Pink Floyd do. No disrespect to them but they never really seriously reached into classical music with rock with soul. The Moody Blues merged the classical ballad unlike an other British group have done before or after.

  • This is my fave Moodies song. It's just soooooo good.

  • what a rush there, you know.

  • This song is certainly one of the best the Moodies have ever wrtten!!!!!!!!!

  • is the audience screaming "you suck!" at the end of the song?

  • @stinger139

Do we go to your "Wiggles" videos and make rude comments?

  • @stinger139 In French?

  • GOD BLESSS and ST. Micha'el carry thee sword!!!!

    AMEN

  • So Heavy.

  • The Moody's touch the soul unlike any other band. Just think- has a mass murderer ever said- " I was listening to the Moody Blues and thought I'd take a number of lives." ?No, the ultimate contradiction. We may want to save lives but never take them. The Moody's save souls, not lives. Just one man's opinion on the Moody philosophy.

  • Eminem is a candy, Ice Tea is a drink, Moody Blues is Music. Music that reaches your soul.

  • @kavetroll WOW!! Very well said! It is music like this that keeps a glimmer of hope that there will arise musicians able to create good music again

  • @kavetroll It's all music. And some could argue that the former have soul-reaching effects, while the latter may not have any effect. It's all about demographics...

  • @kavetroll BWAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, you got that right !!!!

  • quig66: I think it's a glimpse, albeit a small one, of the divine, the all that is.

  • Great song! I'm going to their concert in April and I just bought their new calendar! Any fans should check it out at their website called moodybluestoday!

  • Check out "Marie" by Justin Hayward on my channel. Youtube.com/GlobetownArt.

  • Every time I was with this special lady she would play this song - I just Figured out why today -26 years later.

  • love never does die. it's strange you know, being in love but making one's own coffee in the morning. I miss you Marlene.

  • More mellotron! (Is it just me or does John Lodge look like Rupert Grint?)

Love this tune! Worked it out on piano when I was about 13...

  • @gnostix1 Yes! Long live the venerable mellotron. Used to have one in 1975. Sold it because it broke down constantly. I now have it sampled to my Korg Triton :)

  • My daughter Nikki is engaged !!!!!

  • A very different time.

    But a gentle time. Peace

  • and quig66 my friend, a 6'-4" 260#er here.

Thank you ladyfuschia for your very kind words.

    Bless you Dear Heart.

  • the Moodies. the one and only.

For my Southern Belle. Love ya darlin'.

  • 50 years from now, brofanomo says, "It's all fake, and so were the Beatles, have you ever been to a concert? Has the finish fade as it does here?" LOL You're going to heaven anyway brofanomo!

  • At 5:08 is the world's only black Moody Blues fan.

  • This song gives me goosebumps and I don't know why. The Moody Blues were marvellous and quite unique.

  • Justin time!

  • I ran out of room to finish my comment. Have you ever been to a concert? I have been to many in my lifetime and NONE, NOT 1, has the finish fade as it does here. I can even send you a video with them playing this song, pretty much around this year where it is live, and with no fade as in prerecorded music does so often. This is a TV show that is now on You Tube so you think it is live. Guess what?

  • @brofranomo , Been to hundreds of concerts, proably alot more than you. Seen pretty much all of them. However after giving this video another view I will have to agree it is a recording, vocals, music etc. It was good to see them when they were young lads!

  • @msh1951 Yes, it was really was. There were many videos on you tube with the Moody Blues at this venue which have been removed. This one here, was the most convincing that it was live, but there so many other things that just said it's not live and the others were extremely convincing, with comments to the fact. I have always loved the Moody Blues, and I always will. If you've been to hundreds of concerts, then yes you've been to more than I. I have been to many though.

  • live vocals, yes but music is a recording No one is playing synth or lead guitar, but you can hear both instruments

  • @msh1951 About a year ago I had a listener to this video who sent me a link. it was the organ player, I telling it was all lypsync and was not live.Think about it, how insulted would you be if someone asked you to sing live but not play live to their own music? It's not live so get over it. Beatles did it as many other bands intended to sell tickets to live music shows. I saw them twice during this era. They are very good, but this is far from being live.

  • That Day isHhere..AMEN

  • Wow, Live sound and sounding fantastic!!! Some other vids from this show have been dubbed with the album cuts but not this one... How could they sound so fantastic live?? Truly

  • @chh5555 You just answered your own question. "How could they sound so good?" That is easy, it's not live. Ever been to a concert? Fade at the end like a recording was a major give away, and that's just start with. No instruments are hooked up to amps, and with the drummer barely tapping the drums with no setup with mics posted to the drums. I can send you a video where they are playing live during this early 70's video In comparison to this.

  • @brofranomo the vocals are live, the music is not. you can hear synth and lead guitar yet no one is playing them. Mike Pinder is playing a hammond organ, but there is no organ in the song

  • I love this so much it hurts...............

  • Live,Love and Laugh and think Free

  • Live,Love and Laugh

  • Yes, it's live! And excellent!

  • is it outrageous that i think the moody blues are the greatest band of all time? i dont think so
