Schnabel is caring and superbly interpretive. He has created a fantastic mood and aura to this very special movement; taking it from loving whispers to the excited and jubilant moments and then back to final serenity.  I think he does more than anyone to deliver its message with clear and calm understating. Bravo! This amazing work captured me so as a young man that I would never forget Beethoven's superb majesty.

Carl Hasse used this recording to introduce his celebrated radio program for the many years to its world wide audience, how fitting. Beeethoven with Schnabel's interpretation, marvellous combination.
