Why did the outdoor set look worse in later years? Shouldn't the opposite be the case? I guess that's the director's fault for making it so obvious. Choose another camera angle! Also, some of the actors are dressed like its freezing (Pam, JR), others like it's summer (Bobby is nearly naked); more sloppy directing. I hope for the actors' sakes the water is heated. Clayton's defense of Ray is half-hearted at best. Thanks, pal!!
Thank you. I think that having so many different directors, in the case of "Dallas", led to a lack of continuity visually. Also, the characters started to do things that really seemed outlandish and out-of-character. I'm pretty sure that Larry Hagman had the most control of the show, by the late 80's, and that was NOT the case early on. He's a great actor, but the later years were not the best, IMHO.
I agree completely. From what I've heard, Hagman had far too much control, especially in decisions regarding which characters were kept and which were not.
Larry Hagman is a great man and actor, and I mean no disrespect to him whatsoever. But Pam is a big example of the incomprehendable character changes- can you imagine the Pam Ewing of 1978 exclaiming out in horror because she had spent an hour-and-a-half getting ready, and didn't want to get mussed-up? I don't think so! I realize that people change...but not to that degree...
They really kept her strong, while they made Pam weak that season. They always said Katzman wanted weaker female roles, and yet in Season 10 (after Princpal left) Sue Ellen is one of the people that destroys JR from gaining Weststar Oil's chair. Of course, Hagman had some creative control starting that season - so its not a shock Linda Gray gets to go out with a bang as the spiteful divorce.
Wow the backdrop is the worst ever.

And Christopher is as hot headed, fiery, and short tempered as his father Bobby.

Of course John Ross cheated. He's the son of Satan himself, J.R. Ewing. Why is anyone surprised.

You can tell that this is filmed on a sound stage, because the pool is much smaller than the one at the real 'Southfork'

Well, he jumped into the pool a few seconds before Christopher!

They had a lot of "guest" directors in later years (including some of the actors themselves...) That may have been why. Just a thought.

Exactly. The show definitely seemed to lose its way/roots, which was a big problem with the later years.
