If you want to be a good midfielder you need a strong grasp on all the basic techniques because you are in the heat of the action. Work every day to improve your ball control, dribbling, and especially passing and shooting. The quicker you can play (1-2 touches) the more success you will have in the middle of the field.

Centre Midfield - The most important thing ive learnt since playing Cm (which i have been doing for almost 4 years) Is you have to make sure the Cm on the other team doesnt get a touch, doesnt get a chance to move or even control the ball. Obviously theres more to it than that but it will help your team indefinitely.

Every position is important to the game. You can't say the centre mid (although I play centre mid aswell) is the most important part of the game. The centre mid is just the maestro, and without the tuba players and what not, he would be nothing.

Im centre mid. And really, its the heart position of the whole game. It distributes the blood flow through the whole game. Centre mid = vision and amazing passing abilities

Tackle anyone, any size

Fast, could work on endurance a bit.

im 14 and im a regular sub for my club (but i do start some matches) usually i will play fairly well, but i cant lay long now due to stanima and low blood pressure.

but at my age the wingers dont have to come back to defend unless it is vital, at proffesional it is more advised. but i have to defend coz my eam are uskess in defence, even though we have only lost 4 this season.

heres how you know where to play

good finishing and agility : striker

have crossing ability and pace: winger

have creativity and technique and passing range: midfielder

hard tackling and stamina aas well as passing: Dm

crossing and balance of offense and defense skills: fullback

good reading of game, aerial ability, marking, tackling..etc: Centreback

positioning diving anything to do with stopping a ball, tall is great plus, GK

Steven Gerrard is an awesome player. But I think Xavi is the best without a doubt. His passing abilities are WAY ahead of Gerrard's. Also, Xavi can create space like no other midfielder, though he can't kick as well as Gerrard.

be unselfish by that i mean look for the easy pass

dont let any ball in the air bounce ever.

dont jump in for tackles try to wait for the other player to make the first move.

be aware of where your players are and if they out of position shout to tell them where to go .

overall take control of the back line more .

at a corner you want all 4 of you across the 6 yard box one on either post talk to the keeper talk talk talk be vocal and you shall lead my son.

true... as a midfielder you need to as "complete" as possible as a player - you need to be able to control any ball coming to you, buy yourself time with a dummy, pass short and long, be strong in the air to win headers, tackle, cover a lot of ground to close down the opposition, shoot... most of all you need to make good decisions and not give the ball away. Not sure about taking control of the back line though - the main central defender does that.
