the centreboard and rudder have foils sticking put perpendicular to them in a T-formation, which works like the wing of an aeroplane. the hydrofoils force the water down, but the boat is so light that it lifts out of the water. this is to lessen the wetted surface area resulting in a much faster boat.

I see the boats appear to sit above the water line with just a centerboard and rudder in teh water. How does this work?
do their centerboards force water downwards thereby pushing the boats up, or are the boats shaped like an airofoil?
