@vorhese You're too young to use sonny at least be honest with your self. 34 is not the new 60 man. However, I do agree that people bitching about sell outs is completely idiotic, what band started and said "Let's be total shit and not make money fuck yeah !"
To settle this dumb ass argument.....I've enjoyed Punk Rock for over 15 years. Longer than some of you have probably been alive. I'm fuckin' old. And I promise you, when you get old, you really just don't give a shit anymore who's a 'sell-out" and who isn't. As long as the music is good that's all you care about.
@wozie1005 and operation ivy and the blatts and the zero boys and the yeasty girls and cleveland bound death sentence and the jimmies and sewer trout......all WAY better bands than Greed Day ( oh excuse me....GREEN Day)
@TOXIC00L Funny thing is MTV is dead. Pretty much radio is the only way to describe sell out's. Even then I here Face To Face's song Disconnected on 91X San Diego every once in a while, even after the station has been bought out by Clear Channel. People that think that Mr. T Experience are sell out's are the same ones that say Bad Religion and NOFX are sell out's just cuz they are popular. I agree with you about MTV though.
This song is so catchy. If anybody remembers the school house rock English video from Elemantary school they did a cover of "Unpack our adjectives" watch the original then the cover and youll get the humor of it.
punks been divided into two for a while somewhere in the eighties it got big and went down two roads: the guys who still play basement shows and the guys who play mtv
i think in the eighties it was divided into 3 main sounds.the original punk rock sound liek sex pistols, clash, the dammed and then the pop punk sound like mr t expereince, ramones, queers, buzzcocks and the hardcore sound black flag, minor threat, circle jerks.but thsoe are just liek the 3 main ones u got celtic punk, skate punk and all that aswell but those aint as big as those three.
You can not really pin punk into one category, it's more than just a sound but yeah new Green Day is pretty soft compared to earlier harder shit but what are they supposed to do refuse to evolve and just write about drinking?
----- the greatest punk band ever was accused of being traitors and "NOT PUNK!" they are now considered "gods" of punk rock by most
They suck now, but you have to remember that the Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Clash, etc etc. Listening to a band because of the label is alot like buying cereal and eating the box. -E Costello. I do question them playing with u2 and releasing a second rate ripoff of thier previous album, but they earned what they have now. Evolution with music happenes when you learn more than four chords and are true enough to yourself to not let something like a genre define who you are. U2 fucking sucks.
I truly believe I'm in love with every single band that came out of the Bay Area Scene of the 80-90's.. wish I could've been at a 924 Gilman's show when these bands were at their top !

"Dont want to be an american idiot" "welcome to paradise" that shits all pop punk, my friends were always begging me to listen to there first cds, they were just as bad as there new shit
Welcome to Paradise is an excellent punk rock song, with a real "darky" middle part with the bass. The difference is that is just melodic, and not a punk in the way like UK Subs could sing. Green Day was always different cause they know how to wirite good songs, catchy and powerfull at the same time. They are nice guys, and diserve his success...
i wouldn't call that punk pop really just rock.i always considered this as punk pop.but i do think greendays stuff like dookie and kerplunk as decent punk pop music.
Pop punk is still punk too. Look at the Queers, this band, ramones, Screeching Weasel, they were all melodic and sang about regular life. You just don't like melodic punk. Calling it pop-punk is stupid really. Would you call Bad Religion a pop punk band? What about NOFX or The Decendants? The Clash got really weird in the 80's. Are you going to hate on them too cause they had an eclectic taste in music?
@SeeJohnTalk I don't even see who you're talking to, but I guarantee it's a kid and they'll grow out of that kind of stupid shit. Only kids and chumps make rules like "you can like crust punk but not pop punk" or what the fuck ever.
Yeah, they were still together as of January. They're not touring. I talked to Dr. Frank & he said that they probably won't do another album until the King Dork movie comes out.
