  • we can do better now!!! (not me but other kiters can :P)

  • my longest jump was 3h air time from a mountain with a height difference of about 500m. I used a 30m² wing (ozone) and the wind was about 2bft.

  • @cjbmaille rien à voir :D

  • wooooooow

Low Priced Dyneema Kite Line Set:

    myworld .ebay .com/kite_lines

  • Holy shit! The most I've jumped with my kite is like 10 feet in the air and 30 feet foward with a beamer 4m.

  • Join the Kite Jump Challenge at Konkura.com

  • hahaha this was made 4 days before i was born!!!! hahahaha

  • I got a beamer IV 4m for Christmas and I am already addicted to power kiting. I am looking for a new kite made just for jumping, but don'know what kind of kite to get. What is a good kite brand that is only made for jumping and I am looking for a 6-7m size.

  • @TheDisturbed11

the peter lynn twister II is made for jumping, it has a POWERFULL lift its awsome

  • distance and height are way bigger on water, quite big jump but I've made a bigger jump with my waterfoil 5.7 (or do you have to land without falling for the record?)

  • haha and he got killed by a 12 year old boy goig for 22 seconds and he was on water.

  • lol he use jeans :p

  • this looks like the distance not height

  • total control up there.loved it.

  • i break this record daily kiteboarding, the kites have really changed over the years

  • ya dude i can hit a back roll easily that high

  • @MrDeltaRuler

    |: im sure you do.

  • me too:)

  • vids or it didnt happen, faggot!

  • Not even far xD

  • lol

  • these kites are still for sale, called mandibules, made in fr.

very expensive.... over 1K euros for the bigger sizes....

and yeah they are fast and lifty beasts from another age... but there are a few foils from the late 90's that are still flying well.

  • The Blade 2 is the best kite i know of unless you can tell me any differant?

  • for jumping blade IV

also new blade V is quite good :) but not as good as blade IV

  • very impressive for a 2-line kite!

4-line would be a lot safer though

  • cool jump, you don't really see people jumping like that with a dual line kite these days. only because we've got the quad system, and stronger lines, and the technology to build awesome kites. Looks like a stacker kite of some sort

  • nice

  • I want to see a video of a guy kite jumping, getting sucked up into the jet stream, and deposited a time zone or two away. That would be impressive.

  • Search for 'Erik Eck Kite'. That guy survives a sick kite lift!

  • @MountAthos do you have the link to that video? :D

  • Yeah, that's awesome for back in '97.

I started in '99 with a 2 line foil and I used to break lines before the good stuff like Q-line came out.

This guy only survived by stupid luck. If he had broken a line while doing that land jumping nonsense, he would be killed.

Is that guy still alive? There's been a lot of kite fatalities since '99. People did stupid stuff and the kites were not as safe as today's technology.

  • sa a l'air trop bien

  • wow that kite looks shite

  • everyone that is saying that is not far are bullshiters, why aint you guys world champions then you retards

  • the jumps for these days are far better i could do that with 4.7 rage hahahaha

  • wow that guy is a fucking big nerd lol go put off ur helm u sick old gay nerd

  • In those days we didn't have as good spectra line. I used to break lines all the time in 1999.

If a line had snapped during a land jump, could have been very bad.

  • dude...

  • 250' ? Man, that's not even a football field. I bet I could jump that far. And some of these other assholes think they could too! not

  • wheres your video then ass hole?

  • Sarchasm - the gulf between my sarcasm and your ability to get it. IN OTHER WORDS, I WAS REALLY SAYING THAT THE JUMP WAS LONG. THAT'S WHY I CONCLUDED WITH, "NOT." Hope this helps....

  • HAHAAAAA!! that's pretty fucking insane even by todays standards!!

  • @jensoninterseptor and today. :P

  • From back in the day, this was rather special!

  • thats easly 150ft

  • lol

  • 83 meters = about 250 feet ;)

  • lets say i'm 225llbs...what size kite would i need for starting out as a nooblet

  • To start out as a kite border a 3m kite would suffice, however if you are wanting to be jumping 50m accross the ground you will need about a 16m kite. and some practice.

  • what? absolutely NOT

kiteboarding requires a lot more than a 3m kite

    ----

    There are many factors.

Knowing your weight. and a beginner. i would say 14 or 16m kite.. for 12-18 knots..

but if you're going to be going in 30 knots. you could use a 10m

  • Well that's where you are very wrong my friend, as i actually use a 2.8m kite and with about 10mph wind, can fly down the beach at about 15mph! 3m if ideal for a beginner, but sadly you quickly wish you'd bought a bigger one, just like i did, and funnily enough, was just looking on ebay at a 14m kite.

  • ahh the differences between kitesurfing, and kiteboarding.

The water offers a much higher rate of fun. but also a need for a bigger kite.

I can go in about 6-8 mph with a 3 meter trainer kite on the beach. but for going on water. you need much more kite

  • im sorry but how do you fly down the beach faster than the wind is blowing? =X

  • Yeah good point...lmao! sorry my bad grammer, let me re-word it. I meant, With a 2.4m kite and can get moving in a 10mph wind. (missed the full stop there...lol) and with the 2.4 i have reached about15mph. Sorry, my bad!

  • apparent winds

  • By tacking. A kite can move through the wind significantly faster than the wind itself is moving. That's... well kind of the point.

  • Apparent wind. youll have to google the rest!

  • 3-5m for10-25 mph wind.I am still learning and that was sizes of my first foils.

  • zooooo nice!!!!

  • I have a question: I weight 50 kg, will a 3 meter kite allow me to make big jumps?

  • no you can jump with that size but not big unless you went out in gale force !

  • I would like to try it.

  • I get that distance on water, this guy does it on land, fricken loco!

  • This IS really crazy.

Thinking of bying a 2.4m Radsail.

Thats pretty harmless, yes? My waight is 100 kg.

  • you can't do this things with that.

    I got a 2.0 meter kite and i'm 60 kg.

In 6bft I can jump just a little so it is really harmless.

  • Cheers mate.

    I bought a 3.0m today.

I will start practise any day now!

  • nah people don't diss them it's pretty good for 87. what? 97? ok that's not really anything then is it. sorry my bad diss away

  • Yeah how high were YOU guys jumping in 1997, over land, without a bar, no board, and on a foil?

    newbs

  • lmao..

anyone else thinks he looks like Boris out of the Bond film Goldeneye?

  • in 97 that was quite the attempt

  • not even far =)

  • not even far..

im pretty amazed by this stuff, Isnt the wind strong enough to carry his weight? Or what makes him not fly away up in the air unable to drop down?

  • only french could do something that gay

  • lol

  • agreed!

  • thats not really that far at all...i could do much............just kidding....pretty cool

  • Im not french or nothing.. But i gotta say.. Don't say French People suck until you've seen the Girls In Quebec. Aha Viva La Truck Rodeo! And Fucken Eh Montreall

  • Canadian chicks are hot haha

  • not even far, just kidding

  • I'm pretty sure that jump has been beaten by now. I heard about some guy getting lifted into the air for around 4 minutes unintentionally. Does anyone know where that video is?

  • get me a kite just as long id break his record im 96lbs BITCH! =)

  • belkly u racist fuck.. how can u say french people suck?? what race are u that is so superior to other races? i hate ignorant fucks like u!

  • that looks so freakin fun! if i had one i would jump building to building

  • french people suck

  • Daft Punk don't suck..

  • Ah encore un américain plus intelligent que les autres et quelle ouverture d'esprit !!!

  • why the f$%# are you showing us a vid from 97?

  • nice vid, superb jump. sure not the only superb jump around, but this is quite a distance the good man covers. I say: BIG UP. Also to the haters: for real, your hair looks terrific today.

  • well it was recorded in 97 i think it was new and it just was one step in to the culture of this sport by the way the board is the same as the wake board because if it is than i wanna get this thing what i fly with hahaha how much are the good ones

  • It amazes me that people waste their time with this stuff when you can just pick up a paraglider and fly 100's of KM, 1000's of feet above mountian peaks. Whatever float your boat I suppose.

  • Yeah but not many people have access to mountains where they can fly 100's off KM's, You can fly a kite at any beach and in any field and also its a hell off alot cheaper than paragliding, so thats why people waste there time with it!

  • Lots of people live in the mountians, refer to most of Europe & 1/2 of North America for this stat. The rest just tow up. But your right, a few K$ vs. several hundred is a difference in cost, easily overcome by the committed (i.e. those people willing to get dragged around by kites trying to get a few seconds of airtime). Try flying for real, you'll never go back. Just my 2 cents of course, have fun all the same.

  • depends what flying you mean i've done gliding and flying engined and non engined aircraft and im only 16. but i love to power kite specially when i lose it and end up dragged or hit dead air and drop, the thrill was alot better than aerobatics in jets and such, so really its a case of who like what i like the pain and risks some like the safety.

  • lol you know that 90% of the entire world's population lives in plains?

  • With the right wind and the guts it is possible

  • pffffff. No "record" jump here.

  • That was not a bad jump, but by no means was it the "best". The dude is a total dick anyways hes like just jumping into crowds of people then at the end he just lets his kite go...what a stupid fag what about the ppl downwind of that.

  • yea you might as well just take up para gliding lol

  • LOL good4him

  • i can jump that in my buggy!

  • Nice, but bigger jumps on youtube...

  • i love the way some people dont think that is an amzing jump if you think you can do better why dont you show us i am a good jumper i dont claim to be an amazing one but i would certainly never take the piss out of something like that muppets

  • how big the the kite to be

  • Maybe thats why we hate the Frech so much. They are better at things than we are.

  • bullshit they are better at things than we are. like being cowards maybe, fucking french garbage. eat shit and die

  • where can i get those

  • holy shit 84 M nice !

  • /watch?v=utbiNJxm9uQ&feature=related

    this jump is spectacular :O

  • get a midget lol

  • that looks scary as hell, at 00:59 it looks like theres blood on the sand 0.o

  • this is the highest recorded jump on level ground.... seen a more descriptive version of this vid. although you guys are right, there have been far higher jumps on water, and off hills and such, but on level ground this at least once was the highest.

  • FYI : It's 83,8 m long jump

  • Looked more like he was trying to fly..

  • not that high

  • i cant believe it has 200,000 views. its not even amazingly far of a jump.

  • wow, that was dumb!

  • why was that French dude confused about the distance of the jump. Im not fluent but he was there and hes saying it was 45 or 48 or something. Surely if hes there he knows how far the dude jumped, something fishy goin on here

  • Learn some French before you comment dude.

  • lol

  • good one fucktard, you fly a kite at night..

  • i could even do that

  • trust me, you couldent.

  • nice jump but what an annoying language...Im apologising from all French people but this language makes me crazy :P

  • thats not that cool.......at all

  • Do you even call that a jump?

  • thats damn far...

  • Is it just me, or does he look like that russian computer guy out of the James Bond film Goldeneye??

    LOL

  • hah a little bit

  • ha he does!

  • Doris. - "I am Invincible!! " Then he gets killed.

  • im invinciiiible!

  • if this is a 'record jump'...'I'm Jesus'.

  • shoulda gone to specsavers :P

  • he wouldn't get carried into space... if he kept going up he owuld have just let go of a handle and the kite would go limp he may suffer a leg injury though.. how i know??? i did it before and went over my house... it hurt lol that was height what i got not lenght so thats why im not in the record books!

  • what if he just gets carried into space?

  • the air thins out the higher up you go so he would reach a limit, if that was a serious question

  • holy shit to do that on land is just mental!!!!!!

  • 14 feb 1997 record, 83.8m, try with a 1997 Wipika kite :D

Pierre Cardineau is the mandibule designer

  • if u plan to sell one of your mandibule- please tell me.thats quite an insider kite! much less frequent than the blade - but the mandibule has more lift i guess

  • isnt there a chance in doing that like going real dangerously high in the air?

  • toutes mes félicitations pour ces magnifiques sauts!

  • what a joke this flick is. 99.9 % Kitesurfers do that regulary, what a kook!!!!!!!

  • think str8 man...kite surfin is on water, + they use oards so der far less a chance of them breaking der legs...dis is well more hardcore

  • ROFL see the record , a kitesurfer coming out of the water got caught in a thermal and reached a record of over 100m !! no bullshit.

  • Probably was record sometime, not any more though i shouldn't think

  • that looks like fun

  • nice jump!

  • I use a 14m X3 on my local beach in 10 knots and jump around 40 metres...

  • nice jump, but no record I think....

  • not a record but still pretty sweet.

  • I've jumped further and i'm not even a very good kiteboarder, lol :o)

  • Get it on Video then...

  • you are the boss!

  • Jump record? Ive seen bigger jumps from the mandibule Kites here on YouTUBE. I guess they didnt have the news there to document the jump so they dont count.

  • my guess is it's a pretty old vid.

We jump this far sometimes when kitesufing

  • I jumped more than 100m with my 5.3sqm kite

  • I love to jump with a 7.0 Kite on the beach! Thats soooooooooooooooooo funy!!!

  • tres tres bon et commentaire interessant,lucide... merci les Rochellais !!!

  • i got a blade3 4m the lift is imense even in 10mph winds...got a couple of vids hav a look........flexifoil rock

  • mandibule i guess..cause hes french. this would be my choice then ;) mandibule 10mx

  • I want one of these..for real there bad

  • Gran saltooooo

  • He's got a long way to go!

  • French....

  • get a hangglider

  • must get back out when i can feel my forearms again

  • UNREAL COOLNESS!!!

  • Well that may be the official record, but there's a MUCH higher and further jump taped on video. (uncontrolled)

  • oh my jebus! Was that a super 10 he was jumping with?

  • it does actually say in the description lol

  • I never saw the description. Probably assumed it was in French

  • looked like a prototype peter lynn of some kind to me - only on 2 lines and no bar?!?

  • you don't get jumps like that on no super 10 unless you have 10 flyin at once if you can jump with them at all

  • you can jump way much further with a paraglider! Pretty amazing tho.
