I would be crying enough as it is, but I also have a weird Doctor Who theory... I think Rory is the Master. This scene just got 10000000000000x sadder.
@MightyNeonFraa Actually there are quite a few part time lords. Jenny, (Doctor's Daughter) and Leela and Andred (another time lord) had a child and their baby is part time lord. I shouldnt say who the other one is... Spoilers!
People complain about the tenth doctor being all sad...but really can u blame him! He lost his best friend, the love of his life and countless other things. He was very human and he took his losses in a very human way...badly. Look how The Waters Of Mars how he finally got fed up with losing everything and yet time still won.
I find it unfortunate that people look on Doctor-Master as good guy-bad guy and the Doctor should be pleased he's dead. the Doctor and the Master despite everything still like each other. Why do you think the master didn't kill him in the year that never was. Deep down they still like each other and they always have. Add to the idea that they're both the last of their kind and they need each other. This is what makes the Masters death so powerfull on the Doctor. He's lost and friend and timelord
@zvermilyer3 Really? I've been watching those episodes and the Master is always urging the Doctor to join with him and rule the world together. He seemed pretty happy when the Doctor pretended to join him in "The Claws of Axos".
In his early appearances, the Master wanted the Doctor to join him, but by the time of "The Deadly Assassin", he'd completely forgotten that idea and just wanted the Doctor dead.
The Doctor has demonstrated more than once that he is NOT gay. The reason the Doctor was so upset about the Master dying is because the Master was the only other Time Lord left. With him gone, the Doctor is alone in the Universe. That's what that's about.
@zvermilyer3 Actually, the Doctor is written in a way that implies he is asexual but panromantic, and the romantic relationship between the Master and the Doctor has always been implied, any time the Master appeared. The Master is, on more than one occasion I believe, implied to be gay - not even interested in women. Yes, I understand why the Doctor was upset in that sense, and I agree that this scene is about the Doctor being the only Time Lord left. I was mainly making a general comment.
The music editing is just amazing in this scene. 'This is Gallifrey' is one of my favorite songs ever, and the way it comes in is just brilliant. This whole scene...
at least in the end of time the maste ris alive. I believe that the master has good in him. i hope he survived the blast he used to send rassilon back to the time war. Havn't seen the master yet in the 11th doctors travels either
that was great acting from David Tennant. Even some of the best actors in the world that we know like Ewan McGregor and Colin Firth would find it David a hard act to follow. Matt Smith may make the show incredibly popular as well.
Just think Ewan McGregor as the Doctor? That could work but skip the ginger
At first, I was wondering why The Doctor was so saddened over The Master's death, a man who killed billions of innocent people with no regret, until I realized, HE'S THAT LONELY.
@FlammaMan Well, that....and I figured from his statement "we're the only two left" it was also because that their race was functionally (or, rather, FORCIBLY) extinct.
@FlammaMan It's not just that - they were best friends once (and as various instances in the classic series and "The girl in the fireplace" suggest, his only proper friend besides the Master was an old hermit) and if you watch the classics where the Master appeared somewhat regularily, you could tell that while they were constantly at each other's throats, there's a deep bond of, uh "worthy-opponent"-ness between them/they showed concern about each other at various instances.
Even more, the Master was basically it for the Doctor. Think about it, he's already 900 years old with, what, three more lives to go through? He gets along best with humans but they live a fraction of the time he does and there's nobody he can really share the universe as he sees it with left. It just shows how lonely the Doctor really is because even if the Master was his worst enemy it was at least better than being alone.
@FlammaMan They respected each other's intellect and often teamed up to fight greater evils (tough in most of the cases, the Master himself had brought that greater Evil to earth for the sake of, well, he used to say 'conquering the earth', but 'personal amusement' sounds more likely. He wasn't significantly less crazy back thenXD)
@CloneUnit642 Who says the Doctor can't stop it? But if he did, he'd just die and he's certainly not too keen on that. But nah, it's about as likely that he can't - there are individual differences between different Time Lords, tough most Time Lords seen in the classic series seemed to be able to initiate it whenever they pleased and had moderate to absolute control over what they'd look like afterwards - The Doctor is probably just particulary clumsy at it.
You can see the Doctor burning The Master's body because there is a figure with paper wrapped around him on the pile of wood that the doctor set on fire
when the master dies his wife is wearing red fingernail polish and the hand that picks up the ring has red fingernails. I'm just shooting but there is no coicidince like that on Doctor Who.
no, it was donna that picks the ring up. Look at her ring at the end of journeys end. And also search camp fire trailer. and watch that it looks like the place where the masters funeral pyre is.
It was awful when the Master died, as much as I hate to admit it, it made me cry, lol. The Master actually chosing to die, after all he's done to live. Plus, him dying in the Doctor's arms just made it ever worse.
The kid wouldnt be a time lord. He'd be a gallifrayen. They train at an acadamy to become actual time lords. but i guess the doctor could train 'em. Who knows??
Actually your wrong. They are only referred to as Time Lords if they have been trained. Besides, about the army camp. You cant call someone who hasnt been trained a soldier can you?
Ahhh he's not alone. I seriously doubt the Face of Boe would wait five billion years to say 'you are not alone' in order to warn him about something that happened five billion years before.
This is why, in my eyes, Matt Smith will never be as good as David Tennant.
