Proactiv is a scam. They'll charge you every month and it only works on skin that is just a little clogged. If you have sensitive, dry, oily, skin or even just mild acne DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT. It burns your skin and dries it out and makes your face red and just damages it. It hurts and doesn't work.

Anyone can get clear w/OTC products that replace proactive, (i do use proactive though) U dont need the cleansor less u want to exfolaite. I Use Cetpahil so my skin wont be SUPER dry, then the toner and then the 3rd step repairing lotion and a HEAVY layer not thin. their BP has moisturizer in it, so u really want to load it on, but start slow, w/thin layers 1st so ur skin can get used to the BP w/out burning and peeling. After a month im used to it so I can layer it heavily and Im clear!

@RoxyyBrown well the Benzo Peroxide thats in the Wash and Step3/lotion is what is helpin combat furture breakouts as well as present ones (thts y u use it all over the skin) So when U remove that ingredient ur skin maybe more prone, cus its used to having a really strong ingredient on it 2times a day. My advice is to get Neutrgena on the spot Treatment (BP 2.5%just like Proactiv) and use that all over ur face, YES U WILL NEED ALOT OF TUBES. Proactives thing is kiling bacteria b4 it starts w/BP
How does the step 3 moitsurize ur skin?? That has tons of BP in it. Its dryn for me, so I have to use the Green Tea moitsurizer PLUS My Oil of Olay frag free, Oil free,

@Ahalo1222 Well,Proactiv does that to you because it is so strong.It dries your skin out.You can use the green tea moisturizer that comes with it,or you can go to a local drugstore and buy a different moisturizer that works.And it should only be dry for a few days,a week at the most.Honestly though,I recommend staying at home until it isn't so dry anymore,unless you just have to leave the house.It's embarassing.Drink a lot of water and try to stay out of the sun(:
hands down this works.I have really oily and blemished skin, and in just 3 days, half of my blemishes went away. in two weeks however, my skin was baby smooth! still had occasional breakouts but it got fixed in about a week. If you feel the need, ADD IN OTHER PRODUCTS. this thing is really expensive, so i add in other stuff, like, uuhhhmm, tea tree products(tea tree is potent stuff) . @redblueAM when you first start using it it'll seem like your acne gets worse. It freaked me out the first time and I stopped using it. But I tried it out again a few weeks later and sucked it up through when it got worse, and surely enough my acne did get better. Within a week my skin looks SO MUCH BETTER. Like i was surprised. My black heads almost completely disappeared and the bumps were gone. don't worry, just remember to ease into it and dont freak out :)

Great review. I saw alot about bad stuff, but I'm using it right now so I can't really pick a side. The only problem with the video is that you say to wash off step 1 but you're supposed to pat dry it. Makes a big difference since then you still have that on your face.

i have normal skin with not a lot of acne. i only get a couple of small pimples on my forhead but i still use this stuff. i love it! even though i dont realy have any acne problems, i still notice a differentce when i use it. my skin just feels better. love it!
FYI - If you put the toner on, then use the moisturiser straight after (while the toner is wet on your face) the toner will draw the moisturiser down into your pores so it will be more effective :o) xo
I'm one of those unlucky bastards that has overly oily skin so wearing hats, or my bangs will cause troubled areas on my forehead. Shaving since I'm a guy just irritates me more... thank you for helping a ignorant guy figure this out so I can hopefully fix this.

I have combination skin, and use proactive once a day and it doesn't dry out the dry spots like my forehead, but it also works very well on the oily parts like the T-zone and my chin :)

@xxxdyabloxxx Well for me the proactive didn't help the scarring fade it more got rid of the acne (well thats wat its supposed to do haha) but i did notice that using the hottest water that u can will help fade the scarring. and trust me i had really bad acne and i would pick at it and then i would get really bad scars. wen i started using proactive the acne started going away and when i used the hottest water i could it lightend my scarring. :) hope this helps

@12elfutbolista You're not supposed to use anything for oily skin while using proactiv because you won't see full results and it could even make you're skin worse. Just use the full proactiv system. The oil free moisturizer and everything. It truly works. Hope I helped :)

Im not trying to be a smarty pants, i work for proactiv in Australia and i would just like to advise that the Toner re balances the Ph levels in the skin after the cleanser it also contains glycolic acid which absorbs excess oil in the skin. The repairing lotion is by no means a moisturizer, it has the benzoyl peroxide in it which actually dries the skin out. PLEASE follow your 3 steps with an oil free moisturizer!
Hey! I just order Proactiv, I know you said you use it only at night, but did you ever use it in the morning, and then just put your makeup on? Is it okay just to put your makeup after you use it?
Yes you use them all at once and use it when you wake up and before you go to bed.
proactive works really well, i think that people arent using it right(which is y there is so many bad reviews) Heres a couple tips-1) always use a white towel to pat your face dry. 2) dont overuse amount. 3) softly apply each step. 4) give time between each step to dry well. 5) never touch your face (unless using proactive)
i totally agree ive been using proactiv for like 7 months now and it works so great on my skin cause i have the most oily skin ever! and i get acne only on my t-zone and its not a lot but its better to clean your face and i would recommend to people definetly its no lie and it works like wonders! no joke! :) !

Alright... I work for Clinique and I will say that the Clinique 3 step has done wonders for my skin. I am not just saying this because I work for this company. I had to start using it when I started there because they want us to wear their products. All of Clinique's products are FRAGRANCE FREE & ALLERGY TESTED. I have real sensitive skin and Proactive really made my skin worse. It took forever to get it back to normal. The sulfur mask also irritated my face.
That's false. There is no cure for acne so when you stop using Proactiv, you break out. And if you break out within the first 2-3 weeks of using Proactiv, that's normal, its just an acne cycle.
There are thousands of people who have followed the exact instructions for Proactiv, and it made their acne 10x worse. And after years and years. Not just within the first 2-3 weeks.
Oh really? And where is the proof to your 'valid' statement? If you don't treat acne even after Proactiv, of course your face will break out more and more. It's like going to the dentist, he fixes one cavity, but years and years later, you get more, it's not because of the dentist, its because of the person.

The Daily Oil Control is pretty good, a lot of people enjoy it, you use it once a day, in the morning, and apply a very thin layer. The Nylon-12 will absorb the oils all day until you wash it off at night. The product shouldn't make you break out. :D If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I work at Proactiv.
Ok thanks for replying to my last question but i have another... lol umm on the on the refining mask of proactiv.. could i like dot that with very tiny dots of it on my existing pimples and leave it on over night like sleep with it on and wake up and wash it off.. will it make it worse? or will it be better for it? not use the whole thing on my face and sleep with it just dots where my pimples are.
You could, it won't make it worse. But that isn't the best 'On The Spot' treatment that Proactiv offers. If you have tiny acne, then you can use the Salicylic Acid Spot Treatment or the Advanced Blemish Treatment. The Refining Mask is okay, but the other two are better :D

It's nothing but great marketing.
I used it for about a month or two and bought two packages.
It made my skin worse for the whole time I was using it. Once I stopped using it, my skin cleared right up.
The only thing I can thank Proactiv for are these acne scars.
I use a bar of soap on my skin and it's better than it's ever been.

Great review. I saw alot about bad stuff, but I'm using it right now so I can't really pick a side. The only problem with the video is that you say to wash off step 1 but you're supposed to pat dry it. Makes a big difference since then you still have that on your face.

I decided to buy proactive pretty much as a last resort. I've been using it for a few weeks now, but it has just added more spots than i had in the first place :( is this meant to happen or should i stop using it?

i have normal skin with not a lot of acne. i only get a couple of small pimples on my forhead but i still use this stuff. i love it! even though i dont realy have any acne problems, i still notice a differentce when i use it. my skin just feels better. love it!

FYI - If you put the toner on, then use the moisturiser straight after (while the toner is wet on your face) the toner will draw the moisturiser down into your pores so it will be more effective :o) xo

I'm one of those unlucky bastards that has overly oily skin so wearing hats, or my bangs will cause troubled areas on my forehead. Shaving since I'm a guy just irritates me more... thank you for helping a ignorant guy figure this out so I can hopefully fix this.

I don't understand this product I use it every night then my acne will get better not completely clear but almost clear an then I'll break out a little bit and I haven't missed any days for a month... It's pretty frustrating because they make it seem like a miracle product and it only does half it's job

I have combination skin, and use proactive once a day and it doesn't dry out the dry spots like my forehead, but it also works very well on the oily parts like the T-zone and my chin :)

@xxxdyabloxxx Well for me the proactive didn't help the scarring fade it more got rid of the acne (well thats wat its supposed to do haha) but i did notice that using the hottest water that u can will help fade the scarring. and trust me i had really bad acne and i would pick at it and then i would get really bad scars. wen i started using proactive the acne started going away and when i used the hottest water i could it lightend my scarring. :) hope this helps

@12elfutbolista You're not supposed to use anything for oily skin while using proactiv because you won't see full results and it could even make you're skin worse. Just use the full proactiv system. The oil free moisturizer and everything. It truly works. Hope I helped :)

Im not trying to be a smarty pants, i work for proactiv in Australia and i would just like to advise that the Toner re balances the Ph levels in the skin after the cleanser it also contains glycolic acid which absorbs excess oil in the skin. The repairing lotion is by no means a moisturizer, it has the benzoyl peroxide in it which actually dries the skin out. PLEASE follow your 3 steps with an oil free moisturizer!

i wouldnt try it. it tends to dry out the skin, even with the moistuizing repair lotion. i'd say no; but thats just my opinion.

Yes you use them all at once and use it when you wake up and before you go to bed.
proactive works really well, i think that people arent using it right(which is y there is so many bad reviews) Heres a couple tips-1) always use a white towel to pat your face dry. 2) dont overuse amount. 3) softly apply each step. 4) give time between each step to dry well. 5) never touch your face (unless using proactive)

i totally agree ive been using proactiv for like 7 months now and it works so great on my skin cause i have the most oily skin ever! and i get acne only on my t-zone and its not a lot but its better to clean your face and i would recommend to people definetly its no lie and it works like wonders! no joke! :) !

Alright... I work for Clinique and I will say that the Clinique 3 step has done wonders for my skin. I am not just saying this because I work for this company. I had to start using it when I started there because they want us to wear their products. All of Clinique's products are FRAGRANCE FREE & ALLERGY TESTED. I have real sensitive skin and Proactive really made my skin worse. It took forever to get it back to normal. The sulfur mask also irritated my face.

That's false. There is no cure for acne so when you stop using Proactiv, you break out. And if you break out within the first 2-3 weeks of using Proactiv, that's normal, its just an acne cycle.

The Daily Oil Control is pretty good, a lot of people enjoy it, you use it once a day, in the morning, and apply a very thin layer. The Nylon-12 will absorb the oils all day until you wash it off at night. The product shouldn't make you break out. :D If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I work at Proactiv.

Ok thanks for replying to my last question but i have another... lol umm on the on the refining mask of proactiv.. could i like dot that with very tiny dots of it on my existing pimples and leave it on over night like sleep with it on and wake up and wash it off.. will it make it worse? or will it be better for it? not use the whole thing on my face and sleep with it just dots where my pimples are.

You could, it won't make it worse. But that isn't the best 'On The Spot' treatment that Proactiv offers. If you have tiny acne, then you can use the Salicylic Acid Spot Treatment or the Advanced Blemish Treatment. The Refining Mask is okay, but the other two are better :D
