Guys seriously. Elky was behind for most of the game. Look at the base count. The carriers just sealed the deal.

Also, the micro of both players was fine. Perhaps not up to todays standards of say... Bisu... but still impressive. The firing while retreating of the tanks for instance.

Back when these guys played the world of starcraft was a diffrent place altogether. They were the best for the time for that moment and shud not be compared to todays best, Because the level of skill has come along so much. When starcraft 2 comes out we will see this originality back and the best/build orders/ techniques will be learned once again.Like people then when these guys were playin and myself, the best builds were still being explored.

While I recognize their high level of skill, I felt they lacked micromanagement skill. They successfully acquired masses of resources, bases, and troops, but they seemed to just waste them. There were ample opportunities to make units 200% more effective which weren't acted upon.

Also, Why didn't Elky mass Goliaths? They aren't very expensive, don't take long to build, and work pretty well against Carriers..

Well, this was years ago. I'm sure had they stuck at it, they would of increased their micro skill. I don't know much about professional sc in this time period, but I remember a few replays back then where they did the same thing, more emphasis on macro. Maybe, I could be wrong.

Even without those 5 years difference, you really need to be a superstar to beat them. Since you seemingly don't know their names, you probably are a newbie. If it seems to you they lack some sort of defence, that is because they don't need that defence. They know their opponents abilities and prepare for attacks when needed. Defence basically is what makes players lose in starcraft.
