i used to be a twirler... and you do try to smile as much as you can but it is hard when your concentrating. I dont know about all you other twirlers, but i used to come off from performing with the driest mouth lol.

Personally i don't think it's all about smiling. To me it's more about interpretation and modern freestyles can explore the full range of emotions. There's a place for smiling yes, but the modern sport has nothing to do with the 70's cheerleader approach. I think Hollie performed this this amazingly and her demeanour fitted the music perfectly. After she hit that big catch on the triple illusion, she gave the biggest smile. She then made rest of this groundbreaking freestyle look effortless.

I agree 100%. When I was feature twirler at my college, I'd need water badly after every performance because I had dry mouth BAD, and I mixed all my expressions. Mostly because when you're a college twirler, you twirl outside A LOT!!! lol =)

Yeah, she won! MIGOD is putting it mildly! Incredible acrobatic dancing, with unbelievably complex twirling and tossing. Whew, that was exhausting, just trying to keep up with seeing what all she did.

Problem is, she was never going to be so light and lithe and smoothly quick again. That Tinkerbell factor, as brief and precious as childhood seems from old age.

This is my fave routine. and yes it was hard, but 2001 was in deed harder, not that this would be hard for a 13 year old, but the style of 2001 was amazing, and performed to a T! Do you have Hollie and Michelle's pairs from 2002?

Definately more twirling components and difficulty. Catch in an aerial..whoaaaa....the older routines (01 and beyond) the tricks are set up almost "framed" by coreography and flow. Perhaps a more sophistication than level of tricks??? I like this one best with all the twirling elements.

This routine was done by her canadian coaches. In 1999 she added dale white and marck nash to her influence and routine choreography. If you look at Hollies 1999 routine you can see the different styles in choreography start to take over and transition.
