Is a hammer a tool or a weapon? The same goes for the military people. It may appear to you that they protect your freedom but in reality you just giving it away in exchange of some "protection". Who will protect you from the protectors turning on to you?
Military people are necessary evil. Sometimes you have the chance to chose military that are the lesser evil, but usually it is the other way around - the strongest military is forcing their "protection" on to us. You=blind.
The only time where good prevails is when evil people do nothing.
How about it? It takes one evil person to poison the lives of many whilst it takes many good people to make the life of one carefree.
Soldiers are evil...sometimes necessary but mostly they are dangerous. The same goes for the police and spy agencies and governments and any other system.
We create systems to serve a purpose but after a certain point the systems begin to control us. We lose freedom.
@gespilk first of all its incredibly disrespectful and second very depressing to see anyone talk in such terms. Besides I believe the phrase is 'all that is required for evil to prevail is that good men do nothing.' Yes the right to bear arms is a joke and horribly outdated but police forces are not evil. Trust me, I do the philosophy - they derive from a system of justice based on common benefit from virtue and therefore cannot in human terms be evil (vice.)
Explain "disrespectful"?Why not truthful?About the phrase speak to @chiby1000. I just rephrased him. Whatever the phrase is it is not true because the way I say it is less wishful thinking and more reality based. The quote you provide presumes evil is the normal state of existence. In a way this is the idea that we are all sinners by default. I do not accept that.
Tell me,do you/we have the freedom as individual/s to reject the current systems of governing and become country of your own.
@gespilk I think it is disrespectful to condemn armed services as mostly dangerous and evil. Not truthful because of the professionalism they are compelled to uphold. At least in the British Army. It is not a presumption of evil as a base state merely a reflection on the ease of passage from virtue and how it can survive easily unless challenged. I reject original sin also.
Alas I cannot fathom your last point,of course an individual cannot become a nation state.
Hey, fellow Sharpe fans - I just finished reading Sharpe's Devil and I think it would make a great film. What do you guys think? I know some think that the Peril and Challenge had mixed reviews, but the plot in Sharpe's Devil would make for interesting casting and screenplay adaptation. Comments?

Am I the only one that during the battle felt like watching Saving Pvt. Ryan's Ramelle scene? Mainly because nearly all the cool secondary characters died.
what i am wondering is why such a brillian tactician as sharpe is supposed to be did not occupy the steep ridge overlooking the villiage. it was unaccproachable from the front. granted the woman was having a child, but any villiage has horses and carts.
@AlienZygote010 well, one would presume that as cavalry they could find a way around onto the ridge, and in good time...plus i suppose they could just cut Sharpe off from food, water, escape, etc. and not even bother with a full on assault
My compliments to the uploader for allowing me too see this. My compliments to Sharpe. They are making more, The author of the book said so. He is also writing more books. This wrapped everything up nicely. That grave scene reminded me of everyone that has died in Sharpe. And every man that has died in war. God bless all our heroes. xxxxxx
Aah what a great ending. Sharpe riding off to his farm, turning around and looking back. And the theme melody in the background and then the guitar-riff:-)
But I can't help but feel a little empty, I have watched the whole series over like 3 days and now there is no more.
Give a cheer to the auther Bernard Cornwell for giving us the stories about Richard Sharpe:
I'm reading the books at the mo and recomend you reading them 2 if ur feeling 'a little empty' They are v diff to the tv series, almost like new episodes.
as much as i enjoyed watching every episode of sharp they all followed the same plot. Sharpe meets girl, girl gets in trouble or is already in trouble, sharpe tries to put trouble right, some officer in the british army is a turncoat or evil man and tries to kill sharpe. Sharpe wins.
true, but it is an entertaining formula, and cornwell has done well to change the setting and situation enough to keep the series to continue to be entertaining
I've enjoyed the previous episodes but the last two are total crap. The writing is garbage.
It seems all the bad guys and all the cowards are white. And aside from Sharpe and Harper, all the heroic characters are black or brown. What is this PC crap?

Aww man, how sad was that scene with the girl by Matey's grave...
Good episode - books are better than the vids though! So much gets lost...

Hip Hip Hurray!

If I were the ensign I'd ask for a kiss from the French girl. Or a chance to see her twins.

the ensign reminds me of Harry Potter

as much as i enjoyed watching every episode of sharp they all followed the same plot. Sharpe meets girl, girl gets in trouble or is already in trouble, sharpe tries to put trouble right, some officer in the british army is a turncoat or evil man and tries to kill sharpe. Sharpe wins.

true, but it is an entertaining formula, and cornwell has done well to change the setting and situation enough to keep the series to continue to be entertaining

... quite a moving scene with that young ensign. My goodness the tragedies that took place back then with the deaths of young kids sent to fight
hellmuth878 2 years ago 2
yeah...poor lads...too young...... i felt so sad for all of them. They got killed every episodes they appeared!

What do you think about WWI then? Young boy died in trenches every single f***** day

I was talking about children, not teens. doesn't make it better I know but that isn't what I was talking about.

@tumadoireacht Suffering redeems. You could argue that God was merciful, giving him some hell on earth, so that he need not spend eternity there.

I've enjoyed the previous episodes but the last two are total crap. The writing is garbage.
It seems all the bad guys and all the cowards are white. And aside from Sharpe and Harper, all the heroic characters are black or brown. What is this PC crap?

well the first ones were written by an irishman-now a senator

why does sharpe stop and look back at the closing of each film?
retiredsecurity 2 years ago
meant to signify him looking back on each chapter of his life (maybe) :P
