  • I thought there's no lotus root in the 'duck in lotus root basket' sauce? Why did the commentator state otherwise towards the end?

  • "Kandagawa, perspiration squared!"

I love the banter on this show.

  • Lotas root looks like a loofa... something you'd use in the shower...

  • Why does his voice sound like he is a retarded bull frog?

  • Toshiro Kandagawa is a FUCKING PISSER!!!

    I LOVE THIS GUY!!

Without a doubt, the absolute BEST opponent on IRON CHEF, or on ANY VERSION OF IRON CHEF, BAR NONE!!

He's as good, even better than the Iron Chefs: Kandagawa's both a wiseguy - and a WISEASS!! The Perfect Iron Chef Adversary!

I don't know if it's been done: But I'd love to see a Kandagawa - Bobby Flay battle! Bring it On!

And if you haven't noticed: Kandagawa can "burn some pots:" This man is one hell of a chef!!!

  • Kandagawa beat Sakai after Sakai got the "King of Iron Chef" title during the first Millenium Battle. The 2nd Millenium battle was a rematch between Bobbly Flay and Morimoto

  • I know, I saw that 21 Century Battle and Kandagawa didn't just beat Sakai - He kicked his ass! And the thing about that Snapper Battle Sakai created an absolute fantastic menu and still got stomped! That's how good Kandagawa was that night!

When did this happen? The 'King of the Iron Chefs' battle was at the end of the entire series, when Chairman Kaga closed Kitchen Stadium for good. Sakai not only won that tournament, but he also won the 'Best Chef in the World' battle immediately afterward, against that French guy (Alain Passard I think), and that was the last battle of Kitchen Stadium.

It was 21st Century Battle, its a year after King of Iron Chef. The battle featured 2 matches: Sakai vs Kandagawa, and Morimoto vs Bobby Flay, both of these matches were rematch.

  • @chateae

I'm glad I never saw this. The last battle I saw was the King of Iron Chef tournament, and that was good enough for me. I would've hated to see him lose (and to Kandagawa of all people, though it did help a little that Kandagawa was serious and not arrogant in that one), especially after he won not only the King of Iron Chef Tournament, but the Best Chef in the World battle as well.

  • @ChakatStripedfur

Search for Iron Chef 21st Century Battle, and you should find it

  • Sakai's dishes always look fantastic. Probably taste even better.

  • What does his nose have to do with anything?

  • Whale tongue.

  • i love lotus root and burdock yummy

  • Sakai's presentation is always superb. I love duck in any dish, but Sakai plated that dish so beautifully.
