That's not a solution and will not fix the overall problem... We have to stop pampering the rich by allowing them to cheat on there taxes.... Do you honestly think human beings will always just do the right thing ? The right wing always seems to think deregulation of everything works when in reality all it does is allow the crooks to destroy our system.... You cannot trust human beings.. Your solution for Warren to just write a check to the government is reckless..
He *wants* to give the government his money. So why is asking the government to threaten him with violence to hand over said money? Of course, he's not talking about the government forcing him to hand over *his* money, he's talking about the government forcing *others* to hand over *theirs*.
"all it does is allow the crooks to destroy our system"
Wanting to keep your own money makes you a crook, but wanting to take it by force doesn't? Talk about Orwellian.
It's called the law... We pay 30 percent so why should the rich pay 15 percent... It's not a fair tax system... WE cannot rely on people paying there taxes on good merit... It's ridiculous to force the middle class to pay 30 percent but the rich get off with such a low rate... This is why were in this mess in the first place... The rich had a party and the poor and middle class paid the dam bill...
That's a moot point ....Just because his 15 percent is more than my 30 is no defense for why the rich are getting breaks while the middle class isn't ... That's BS .. If I make 1 billion next year my butt shouldn't be paying 15 percent less because I made more...
@Guncriminal A flat rate....that's stupid. We shouldn't fashion our economic and political systems by our silly emotions and morals; they should be based on what works in the short-term as well as the long-term. You're proposing a system where the people at the bottom are taxed to the point to where they can't afford to buy anymore. That's our problem right now: a weak middle and under class who can't afford to buy. The rich should be paying almost all the taxes--49% should do.
@Guncriminal 49% is based on the top rate in many European countries, and is also based on marketing (ie. $9.99 instead of $10.00). Even the super-rich like Gates say that we could put it near 50% before any of the rich listen to Ayn Rand and go on strike. Anyway, the rich use more infrastructure and get about 100 billion per year in handouts, according to CATO. High taxes and future-oriented investing are the price for keeping chaos at bay...that's just how it is...
@tstruss912 Do you know that Christianity is correct? The world around us reveals that G-d DOES exist, and the historical evidence reveals that Jesus Christ really did come to this earth and there is overwhelming evidence that Jesus Christ really did physically rise from the dead. Jesus is coming again and the signs of the end times that were foretold in the Bible are coming to pass.
@funkyflights Don't bother. The right-wing would rather our society collapse into chaos than admit that their silly emotions and "morality" fail in the extreme form. The same is of course true of extreme leftism (communes = epic fail). Anyway, I say 49% for the rich. That's not too high to discourage hard work and it's high enough to give those at the bottom a tax cut SO THEY CAN ACTUALLY BUY GOODS TO STIMULATE OUR ECONOMY!
Yep - that's the answer - more money to the government. After all, they create the vast majority of jobs in free enterprise, right? Oh, you silly fools. Money to the government creates government jobs filled with unionized workers who have their pay extorted so donations can be given to politicians who will raise taxes and hire more government workers. What a scam.
@cptexas1 Well, most of the privet sector doesn't create jobs for US citizens. Even after the Bush tax cuts took effect many of the people who benefited from them sent more jobs overseas.
What we really need to do is lower taxes on domestic goods, and tax the shit out of imports.
There is much in what he says. I just wish he wasn't such a tax dodger himself. I hope at this point he's doing his part. Society makes these people rich, and I think that's the big point here. Nobody earns billions through their own efforts alone.
I just wonder, how come when you see overly conservative even radical videos like Peter Schiff, most like it, and then when you see this most like it too? The only way I can explain is that most don't even know what they stand for. What's the average age of people here, like in their late 30s, 40s? Wow, then why are yo complaining about unemployment, if you have no guidance, no direction in life whose fault is that?
Look up "The Deficit Reduction Project" the voice of the people, regardless of what party. United under one ideal, that all of us can do. The Project is not so much about the Deficit, it about finding a common ground and if for once we can all find one thing that we can all agree on, then we would be united for the first time in a long time. That would be an event that brings a better future for all. I say one last time We the People mean nothing until it mean ALL OF US
If he wants to pay more in taxes, he can go online and make a voluntary contribution. This cocksucker doesn't speak for me though. You want to give more money to the government? Go for it. It will only make things worse
@HeadOfTheCoin Yes because I totally forgot about that whole "Just because somebody says something, it HAS to be true" logic. I think I used that back when I was an inept child who didn't know much of anything.
@LibertaerUeberAlles Have you ever heard of profit tax? Almost all Scandinavian countries tax the business itself. Or that is, they tax the PROFIT that the business have, because thats money that would otherwise just go to stockholders. When you tax profit, no one (apart from retarded republicans) can claim that it hurts the business, because its profit, its money that would otherwise end up at stockholders. And thats not bs, thats a HUGE INCOME for most countries.
Yes, I know. It's simply a business income tax. America and pretty much all European countries (not just Scandinavian or Nordic countries) have this tax. In most cases (e.g., Finland), the corporate tax rate is lower than the top personal rate. For fairness, and to avoid corporate oligarchy, corporate and personal rates should be set equal. But that's not what the "tax me!" billionaires want, so they instead advocate raising personal taxes.
Lots of willing dupes on these postings. Envious, lazy and not too bright. Here is a guy that is worth $50 billion yet takes every deduction, tax shelter and tax avoidance scheme in the book yet says "oh, please tax me more?" He isn't even leaving his money to the government through estate taxes. Absolutely nothing stopping old Warren from writing a $25 or $50 billion check to Uncle Sam. Will he? Not in your short, brutal lifetimes.
@LiekABaus - I agree. Most of them got to go. My post was more that Buffet is no fool - he won't pay more in taxes because he knows that even if he gave his entire $50 billion that the government would piss that away in 5 days. You are right - even the Republicans don't want cuts to the current budget. I live in California where even some Democrats will tell you that we don't have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem. The country needs an immediate 40% cut in spending.
@LiekABaus I disagree. You don't throw good money after bad and the amount of money government wastes is beyond comprehension. I am former military and federal and state government. The waste is a documented fact and not some insignificant amount of money. $16 muffins are just a continuation of the reckless spending (you may not recall $400 hammers or $800 toilet seats). Taxing the "rich" is a stupid talking point as is a "mix" of taxes and cuts. Start with 40% cuts. R or D same scum.
@calditz1 in terms of the total budget, waste is insignificant.
and $16 muffins dont even register when you are talking trillions in spending per year.
$16 muffins are propaganda handed out by agenda driven media outlets.
supply side economics, which is what you are arguing, does not help our country in the age of globalization. It may have made sense during the reagan years, but this is 2010 not 1970.
@LiekABaus I'm not saying "just cut out the waste", but that is a great place to start - the OMB believes it is between
$150-$300 Billion a year. You also can't raise taxes high enough on enough people or corporations to close a $1.5 Trillion gap. Eliminating the "Bush" cuts raises between $90 -$135 Billion a year. So be it. Without going to confiscatory taxation levels which still won't do it (in the 1970's it was 70% tax rates on upper incomes) it has to be primarily major spending cuts.
@LiekABaus He wouldn't be taxed any extra under his system, he has no income. He just wants liberals to think he's doing something and they'll revere him as a god.
@calditz1 If he just wrote a check, it would not cause other very rich people to write checks. It would just make him seem crazy to shareholders. By not writing a check he can speak out to legislators in Washington for a change in tax legislation. He has the potential to change more of the system. He may be very rich, but he doesn't own all the money in the US.
@calditz1 you think one person is going to fix this economy on his own by writing a check? You can try to take all the money he makes every year and its not going to fix this mess. Its going to take the whole country to do their "fair share" to get out of this mess. Big companies are making recorod profits on the backs of the middle class workers in their companies and then they turn around and fire those same workers. That's not fair.
Nice try... The man is openly telling the truth... And yet you spin it for your own beliefs.. YOU have no idea what Warren Buffet is doing with his personal taxes more than you know if Godzilla is attacking Tokyo.... Warren Buffet is proof positive that the republican ideology is failing the USA.... If you want to ignore it then turn on Fox news and keep getting bullshit fed up your back side...
@funkyflights warren buffett's is the biggest shareholder of berkshire hathaway, so his tax rate is the corporate tax rate of 35 percent. He choose to pay himself a very low salary, because his taxes will come from his stocks, which is 15 percent. he choose to dodge taxes.
Bush started the bail-outs ... Obama continued them... Which should tell us it's bigger than just the president... But I still do not favor the rich not paying there fair share and putting the burden on the middle class and poor... If you make 60,00 a year and your paying 30 percent there is no reason if you make 10,000,000 a year you should not pay the same 30 percent... It's not fair right now and it needs to be fixed .. Let's stop this pamper the rich
@funkyflights listen I supported ron paul so I'm against war and bailout in general. but yes I think we just need abolish income tax and or getting rid of loopholes. my point is simply that warren buffett choose to pay himself a low salary because he will taxed a lot more if he pay himself a higher one
He forgets to mention that the "rich" include everyone except himself and his billionaire oligarch friends, whose respective fortunes are safely harbored in corporations and tax-exempt 501's.
Cut Social Security and Cut Medicare. These 2 programs are used mostly by the irresponsible who never bothered to save any money in the first place. Some do need it, but lets only give it to those people who were responsible and still need assistance. Cut taxes for incoming companies and offer tax credits to companies for expansion and innovation, which will further job growth and economic development. Increase spending on infrastructure also to produce jobs.

@buchedda your ideas would only promote mass poverty and what about students who emerge college with on average 36,000 in debt and cant get a job or people who are struck with cancer or any other serious illness and lose their homes and jobs. I'm afraid you've been brainwashed by the powerful interests that control the media into giving up essential social support that will make the majority poorer and make the tiny elite richer and even more powerful through tax cuts and deregulation.
@Sleck06 Mass poverty because of irresponsibility. How long do you want to keep on supporting the mistakes of many? Social Security and Medicare have absolutely nothing to do with college students and debt. Like I said, some need it (cancer other seriously ill stricken people) that show they do not have sufficient funds already. Without medicare and social security, pay checks will rise and debt will be greatly reduced. Media hasn't brainwashed me, facts have. I try not to watch the news.
@buchedda 1. Socialism doesn't mean everyone gets paid the same amount of money regardless of work. 2. The US is the least socialist economy among Western countries and also has one of the lowest standards of living and highest unemployment rates. 3. Taxes in the US are currently at a record low, meaning that during every prosperity and growth we have ever had, we have also had higher taxes.
Well said Warren!! And yes, the tax structure increases as you make more money in Canada. The U.S. isn't like this and we are all paying for it now in the complete nose dive of this country :(
@pvpKevin All I need is for someone to get into office who has some iota of intellect and business experience, that would be all the help all of us needs; tired of stupid people.
Buffett is a class-a-retard. The top 1% pay 57% of all taxes. the bottom half the middle and poor class pay 0% m/p don't pay federal income taxes. thanks for playing dems. But your party is a laughing stock of our country. 0bama is a walking disaster. the Democrats will be voted out in 2012 (Again) just like the shellacking in 2010. problem with this country is the Democrats spending addiction. they will NEVER be satisfied with what the rich pay-they will just come back later and demanding more

Pay your damn taxes Warren! His corp hasn't paid over a billion $ in taxes since 2001 and is fighting to keep from paying them. How about you cut a friggen check? This goof ball has also said in the past that we in CA need to pay higher property taxes just because he can afford it. HOW ABOUT SPEND LESS???
Buffet's secretary pays 35% in taxes. That sounds like a pretty nice income. He could always gross her up to cover the taxes. Or, a much better solution would be to lower her tax rate to that of her boss -- 17%. This economy would be going up like a rocket with a flat tax of 17% for everybody and every business.
@pvpKevin Said like a True Cult Member driven by liberal media to believe as they wish you to. I use to be a Dem, then I grew up! How STUPID can humans be when they see Gov flush down the toile $19 Bill in overpymnts in Unemployment, spend $105 Bill in duplicative programs. Send checks out to Dead People, Prisoners & Illegals, Hand over $1/2 BIll to Various company's like Solyndra even though they were warned about their problems, etc.. etc.. (NO BUS. EXPERIENCE) & THINK more $ WILL DO ANYTHING?
I am a Republican, the rich should pay a little more in taxes because they can afford it but Obama is taxing them too MUCH! Its class warfare. Vote Republican in 2012.
@IntGalMusicClan Why would anyone w/half a brain cell want to give the Gov more $ to waste? Look at everything they do; constant waste. Construction jobs take years to get off the ground, permits, plans, etc.. thus why Obama later had to eat his words saying "Shovel Ready Projects weren't really Shovel Ready".. Where's the extra $ going to go? More dead people, illegals, prisoners, part of the $105 Bill duplicative spendg programs; more shrimp on treadmills, another defunct Solar company?
@John60169 well that's the MAJOR question. i want to know as somebody who's level headed and a conservative Canadian.....is it TRUE that he has a lower tax rate than his employees? i doubt it ..... i've always thought the tax rate goes up as your income goes up....maybe not like in Canada or Europe, but even in the U.S. the wealthy have higher tax rates..... can anyone confirm this? is Buffett talking about corporate rates? is he comapring apples with apples... or apples with oranges?
@quincee33 Apples w/oranges; comparing what Buffett pays on Capital Gains (investments) w/those who pay on income tax; many rich people who r still actively working not only pay income tax, they also pay on capital gains from their investments. Since Buffett only pays Capital Gains tax, his analogy is ludicrous & to anyone with a brain it's obvious they are pandering to the unsophisticated or those who really don't want to spend time finding out how their misguided ideas r ruining the country
@quincee33 There's a Judge Judy link which shows a guy who was collecting all sorts of benefits to go to college & rent an apartment, etc.The tax payers paid $70K thus far for his education & r paying nearly $500/month for his rent. He couldn't understand why his rent income couldn't be spent on personal items. Is this someone who will 1 day be a productive member of society?Where is the hunger to succeed; he's being handed everythg on a silver platter & wasting our $! Multiply this by 1000,000
@WingThaiJ ya i hear ya. not too sure what the real solution should be. Socialism isn't the answer, but all people need to pay their fare share...and the uber wealthy shouldn't have tax loopholes, just like someone getting food stamps or welfare shouldn't be getting a hand out instead of a hand up.
@quincee33 You hit the nail on the head, "CLOSE TAX LOOP HOLES' so Obama's Buddies with GE will have to pay taxes. However, less waste will occur if the Gov is made smaller and were to only run constitutionally based programs. As far as 'fair share' they are already paying the majority of the bills; google the stats run down. The 1st thing is to cut the spending, waste etc.. No sense giving the Gov More $ with all the waste. Obama's Solyndra fiasco is PROOF Obama doesn't know what he's doing.
@WingThaiJ ya some mainstream Economists ran the numbers if you were to raise taxes on the rich and based on the same growth pattern (assuming the economy doesn't get worse) .....the deficit would still be montrous.... so it's obvious that spending cuts are needed whether you're a liberal or a conservative. Also the U.S. has the highest corporate tax rate in the World, just recently passing Japan. So many businesses bypass this by having offices in Switzerland or the Caymen Islands.
Hey fool, Warren, put your money where you mouth is. Check that box on your IRS return that says "Conscious Giving" and write a check for whatever amount you like. The IRS will gladly take your money. And while you are at it, fire those $300 / hour tax lawyers you hire to make sure you don't pay and extra nickle. Hypocritical old fool....
I'm certainly no economist, but I think that one of the biggest reasons why we as a country are not taking in the amount of taxes that Mr. Buffett says that we need is because we have sent almost all of our manufacturing jobs offshore to other countries. I think that Ross Perot was correct when he warned us that things like NAFTA and GATT would create a huge sucking sound of American jobs leaving our country. NAFTA and GATT have been a huge disaster for our economy.
@LarryC213 What was that old saying about what NAFTA stood for? No American Factories Taking Applications! And we cannot forget that America spends about 1 Trillion dollars a year in Policing the Entire Planet. We have military bases in something like 200 counties. 1 Trillion a year. We are officially bankrupt and we spend 1 Trillion a year to police the Globe. America has become and Empire and we are following the path that every other empire has gone and we are almost at the end.
You can't believe this guy. It is Buffet and people like him who write the tax legislation in the first place. They create the loopholes in the legislation, then, lobby the congressmen and president to sign it into law. They say "Tax Me", all while knowing that the legislation is created in their favor. Wake up people.
You know, they are comparing apples and oranges. If WBs secretary had most of her income coming from Capital Gains then she would be paying 15% too. I guarantee WB is paying top notch on his "salary" what ever that may be. I suspect if the IRS didn't like him they would be pressuring him to take a larger salary.
GREED will only destroy everybody. When money is short the middle class can't spend, the rich can't sale. Stop this idiocy. When we get out of this hole the rich can get their money back. If more young men and women die for this country from the lower economic class its only fair for the rich to make their share to help the country. Stop the GREED pay equally like most of us.
By the way, Obama should keep his promise by letting Bush tax cuts to be expired. Oh, heck. Okay, I know he is not going to do that, which is sad reality.
@SPGhettus Are you serious? You think government doesn't waste? Did you know that private sector systems are efficient because they have to make a profit to stay in business. The government would have been out of business about 14 trillion dollars ago. The postal office itself spends 80% of its budget on its workers, compare that too Fedex whose only spends 32%. Of course the government wastes money, no contest.
If these stupid critics understood basic economic principles, would setting an example for critics' challenge to give as much as he can to taxes cost outweigh the benefits? NO. What a profoundly ignorant challenge that only under minds the "economically smart" critics.
@melrastessa If you want to control our nations spending you must have cuts. You must gear our government and people living off government welfare to live with less handouts. You must make sure the government gives money to the right people. The people who are really poor not some student that won't get out of his parents home because he doesn't want to get a job. The poor is too broad a term to finance more handouts, you have to give it too the people truely in need.
@RiotHouseLP There's a great misconception in this country. Millions of people think other millions are getting everything free because they don't want to work. It's just not true.
Sure, we need to cut off any scammers, but just slashing the budgets like the Republicans are doing won't eliminate many cheaters, but it will hurt families who legitimately need help. If we want to catch cheaters, we need to invest a little and hire more people to vet the applications.
@melrastessa You said the only programs that will be cut are programs that help the poor who will eventually perish if their welfare is taken away. I have heard that answer before and it holds no weight. We all know that when you give the Government more money its like a free ticket to spend 1.25 dollars for every dollar taken in. It leads to waste, and puts us further in debt. Its people like you that encourage raising taxes on the rich that are going to encourage more wasteful debt.
@RiotHouseLP Programs for the poor make up only a tiny portion of our budget. If we cut TANF completely, eliminating every dollar of federal food aid, to freeloaders and the deserving, it would only reduce our spending by 0.4%, and our deficit by about 1%. The waste is just not as great as the right would have us believe.
"We all know.." No, but some of us think that, when the truth is that Spending and taxing are NOT tied together..that's how the deficit was created in the first place.
If you want to pay more in taxes Mr. Buffett then go ahead. Theres a spot right there on any 1040 where you can contribute as much as you want. Also, don't take any deductions if thats the case. You don't have to raise taxes on everyone who is wealthy in order to pay higher taxes yourself. Or do you have other reasons for preaching this hogwash?
@Guitarvirtuoso666 Deficit spending is a Keynesian economic rule that governments must go into debt during a down cycle. This isn't just a down cycle and even Keynesians know that this only works in a cyclical deficit system only, not a world depression. Do your homework, and read up on your own home country in Belgium, its not looking so hot either.
@RiotHouseLP Where the hell did you learn your economics? Somebody actually told you the economy isn't cyclical? I highly doubt you've ever even touched anything written by Keynes much less understand what actual Keynesians believe.
Deficit spending is what we have been doing for decades. President Ronald Reagan talked about deficit spending. Jimmy Carter talked about deficit spending. No president has been able to cut spending too the point where our budget is balanced. This is our government friends, its our responsibility as much as the congressmen we elect to ensure that this debt doesn't pass onto the shoulders of our children and grandchildren.
Say we take in all this money from the rich. Why do it during an administration that has record spending? Lets slow down here, cut spending and balance the budget. But taxes should not go up until spending goes down because raising taxes in a recession will only hurt people more. Raising taxes on the extremely rich will not solve our deficit alone.
@RiotHouseLP Oh, yes this administration that inherited two wars, and a new medicare prescription plan. Oh this administration that has to waste money in this economy, oh this administration.
@RiotHouseLP That statement is why we're in the trouble we're in. If we cut spending further, there will only BE the super rich left (if you'd like me to elaborate, the programs that are most likely to be cut further are those helping the poor, meaning, more will become homeless and eventually perish). Plus, if you don't raise taxes, the only thing left to do is borrow money. We are already basically owned by several other countries, and we have a grossly small tax rate for our whole country.
He's invested in the future prosperity of America. He knows for a prosperous, innovative economy. The inequality gap must close.. The more wealth to the masses.. the more productive the economy.. common sense.
@fwanksajerk Ok both investment income and wage income (do you see the common word?) are types of INCOME, which areo taxed...did you think that investment income (passive/portfolio income) was not taxed? You really have no idea about economics...
There are investment taxes (capital gains) but these have, by far, a substantially lower effect on the "rich" like Buffet contrary to if he made gains through wage income. The investment taxes are low enough that they practically don't affect him.
He advocates increasing the wage income, not investment. Hence my point about his monopolization status and duping people. Come on, put 2 and 2 together.
@fwanksajerk "Buffet makes almost no income" Correction ..almost no *ordinary* income. Investment earnings *are* income, and are taxed, just at a different rate.
The simple version: Stocks gains and dividends are taxed at capital gain rates, 15% for Buffet and peers.
Bond and account interest is taxed at ordinary rates, just like wages.
Many of the wealthy are paying ordinary rates now, because they favor more secure interest-paying investments to stocks in the current economic climate.
@califbozo ...."not drunk on money"? Of course not!!! That's because he's hungover from the drunken with money fest he's outlived. This guy could live off of his billions the rest of his life. There's a difference between millionaires and billionaires.
Soak the billionaires, and they're still billionaires. Soak a millionaire, and you eliminate every millionaire you soak.
He's the proverbial. former, whore hopping old man, who can't get it up anymore, advising kids not to be whore hoppers.
.....furthermore, if it's such a good idea, why don't he just volunteer the taxes he's avoided in the past. Put your money where your mouth is Buffett. Pay the standard you preach to the rest of us and I mean pay retroactively. Else you are just a grandstanding hypocrite.
@califbozo MY GOD, U Don't See How They R Playing To The Ignorant? They Lie To Your Face! 1stly, getting more revenue MEANS NOTHING if Gov Wastes $. A bleeding man can get a transfusion which may allow him to survive a few extra minutes, the wound needs to be repaired for the transfusion to do it's job. Buffett pays 15% of his Capital Gains (NOT INCOME); his secretary pays INCOME TAX - It's apples & oranges. He'd be better off donating his $ instead of lettg the Gov WASTE IT. IT'S CALLED THEFT
@califbozo U People should be EMBARRASSED for being Obama Admin's FOOLS! Friggn Cult Members who can't think! Great Politics: TAX RICH; make sit easy for the Ignorant to follow them & they know it. Don't u people know it's not that simple?I guess not, none of u know what is involved in running a bus.Yes, close loop holes, end corp welfare,etc.. but this is a SHOW FOR DUMB, Economically Challenged! He doesn't even say what Fair Share is! These taxes WILL DO NOTHING to help deficit or create jobs
mr buffet is nothing but a political HACK for Obama...Buffet supported him. If Mr Buffett wants to give away all his money, he can deposit it all into MY bank account....I could use the money. When Reagan cut taxes, it created 21 million jobs. Its that simple. Come on Mr Buffet, please give me your money if you think you are making too much money...I will gladly accept it from you.
why should I when Warrent Buffet says he isn't taxed enough? Again, if he doesn't think he's taxed enough, he can give me all his money and I can go out and build my own flying saucer spaceship house like the one on Signal Mountain, Tenn that was built way back in 1970, or I would send supplies to the poor people of Afghnistan...hey, but Im not allowed to make any money since Im a qualified, hardworking white male who is highly educated and is forbidden to get a job because of Affirmative Action
mAYBE YOU WOULD BE IF YOU WERE EDUCATED, QUALIFIED AND HARDWORKING AND EARNED YOUR BA DEGREE AND SERVED IN THE MILITARY AND THEN WAS DENIED EMPLOYMENT BECAUSE AN EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO HIRE PEOPLE BASD ON THEIR RACE AND GENDER WHICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR QUALIFICATIONS FOR THAT JOB...ITS AMAZING HOW A WHITE MALE CAN BE DENIED EMPLOYMENT WITH AN EDUCATION AND HAVE SERVED IN THE MILITARY JUST TO MAKE UP FOR THE WRONGS OF THE PAST THAT THEY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH.
@3dartistguy the fact that you have referred to yourself as qualified in every single post you have made, tells me either that you are not qualified, or perhaps just think you are, or that you have confidence issues and have to inform people that you are qualified so that they will accept you. Stop bitching about how the world is at fault and do something productive. If someone isn't hiring you.. tough! apply somewhere else. I promise you that affirmative action has nothing to do with it.
dUDE, YOU DON'T K\NOW ME...I have a four year degree in fine arts, plus i have served the last nine years in the military as a mass communications specialist where I was awarded a Navy Achievement Medal for my graphic art work, plus a good conduct medal and other awards for my art work and skills. SO I know I am qualified and experienced and skilled. The problem is that my race and gender have very little to do with my qualifiations because have to hire minorities and women to fill a quota...
@3dartistguy i never said I know you. However your comments inform me that you have some issues with confidence or arrogance as you keep referring to yourself as gods gift to the jobs market. Listen, you dont need to brag about yourself to strangers. save that for the job interviews.
What you are saying is that white people are more discriminated against then black people. Im sorry but the facts are not on your side on this one. Also, how do you know they hired a black person instead of you?
Maybe its the stupid ass job fairs in whcih employers are encouraged to hire people based on their race and gender just to fill a government mandated quota system? Maybe its the fact that emploeyrs ask me what my race and gender are and are not concerned at all about what my qualifications for the job are? I never said I was god's gift to employers, you said I wasn't qualified just because of your incredbale ignorance and I saw I am qualified and denied employment just because Im not black.
He owes money to the IRS and is in Tax Court right now...what a hypocrite!!!
69Desk 2 weeks ago
If he wants to give his money to the government so badly, why doesn't he just write the IRS a check? Or is that too honest and straightforward?
Guncriminal 2 weeks ago 2
@Guncriminal

The rich had a party and the poor and middle class paid the dam bill...
funkyflights 1 week ago
@funkyflights
15% of his is worth far more than 30% of yours, although having said that, if there is a tax system at all, it should be a flat rate.
Guncriminal 1 week ago
@Guncriminal
That's a moot point ....Just because his 15 percent is more than my 30 is no defense for why the rich are getting breaks while the middle class isn't ... That's BS .. If I make 1 billion next year my butt shouldn't be paying 15 percent less because I made more...
funkyflights 1 week ago
@Guncriminal A flat rate....that's stupid. We shouldn't fashion our economic and political systems by our silly emotions and morals; they should be based on what works in the short-term as well as the long-term. You're proposing a system where the people at the bottom are taxed to the point to where they can't afford to buy anymore. That's our problem right now: a weak middle and under class who can't afford to buy. The rich should be paying almost all the taxes--49% should do.
tstruss912 1 week ago
@tstruss912
"You're proposing a system where the people at the bottom are taxed to the point to where they can't afford to buy anymore. "
No I'm not.
"The rich should be paying almost all the taxes--49% should do"
I'm not expecting a rational explanation as to why this should be, or why the rate should be 49% and not 50% or 48%. Sounds completely arbitrary.
Guncriminal 1 week ago

Jesus is coming again and the signs of the end times that were foretold in the Bible are coming to pass.
marionetemanJ 3 days ago

What a scam.

And thats not bs, thats a HUGE INCOME for most countries.
gulbirk 3 months ago
@gulbirk
LibertaerUeberAlles 3 months ago
Lots of willing dupes on these postings. Envious, lazy and not too bright. Here is a guy that is worth $50 billion yet takes every deduction, tax shelter and tax avoidance scheme in the book yet says "oh, please tax me more?" Not in your short, brutal lifetimes.
calditz1 5 months ago 6
@calditz1 which republican politicians preaching spending cuts, cuts spending out of their own government paycheck?
not in your lifetime.
LiekABaus 4 months ago
@LiekABaus - I agree. Most of them got to go. My post was more that Buffet is no fool - he won't pay more in taxes because he knows that even if he gave his entire $50 billion that the government would piss that away in 5 days. You are right - even the Republicans don't want cuts to the current budget. I live in California where even some Democrats will tell you that we don't have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem. The country needs an immediate 40% cut in spending.
calditz1 4 months ago
@calditz1 No, republican congressional leaders want spending cuts, they just want cuts in spending that benefit their personal finances.
at least warren buffet wants tax increases that would hurt his personal finances, rather than benefit.
The government has a financial problem which encompasses both revenue and spending, singling one factor out is just some stupid talking point.
LiekABaus 4 months ago
@LiekABaus I disagree. You don't throw good money after bad and the amount of money government wastes is beyond comprehension. I am former military and federal and state government. The waste is a documented fact and not some insignificant amount of money. $16 muffins are just a continuation of the reckless spending (you may not recall $400 hammers or $800 toilet seats). Taxing the "rich" is a stupid talking point as is a "mix" of taxes and cuts. Start with 40% cuts. R or D same scum.
calditz1 4 months ago
@calditz1 in terms of the total budget, waste is insignificant.
and $16 muffins dont even register when you are talking trillions in spending per year.
$16 muffins are propaganda handed out by agenda driven media outlets.
supply side economics, which is what you are arguing, does not help our country in the age of globalization. It may have made sense during the reagan years, but this is 2010 not 1970.
LiekABaus 4 months ago
@LiekABaus I'm not saying "just cut out the waste", but that is a great place to start - the OMB believes it is between
$150-$300 Billion a year. You also can't raise taxes high enough on enough people or corporations to close a $1.5 Trillion gap. Eliminating the "Bush" cuts raises between $90 -$135 Billion a year. So be it. Without going to confiscatory taxation levels which still won't do it (in the 1970's it was 70% tax rates on upper incomes) it has to be primarily major spending cuts.
calditz1 4 months ago
@LiekABaus He wouldn't be taxed any extra under his system, he has no income. He just wants liberals to think he's doing something and they'll revere him as a god.

Big companies are making recorod profits on the backs of the middle class workers in their companies and then they turn around and fire those same workers. That's not fair.

LarryC213 5 months ago
@LarryC213 What was that old saying about what NAFTA stood for? No American Factories Taking Applications! And we cannot forget that America spends about 1 Trillion dollars a year in Policing the Entire Planet. We have military bases in something like 200 counties. 1 Trillion a year. We are officially bankrupt and we spend 1 Trillion a year to police the Globe. America has become and Empire and we are following the path that every other empire has gone and we are almost at the end.

RiotHouseLP 6 months ago
@RiotHouseLP There's a great misconception in this country. Millions of people think other millions are getting everything free because they don't want to work. It's just not true.
Sure, we need to cut off any scammers, but just slashing the budgets like the Republicans are doing won't eliminate many cheaters, but it will hurt families who legitimately need help. If we want to catch cheaters, we need to invest a little and hire more people to vet the applications.
SPGhettus 5 months ago
@melrastessa You said the only programs that will be cut are programs that help the poor who will eventually perish if their welfare is taken away. I have heard that answer before and it holds no weight. We all know that when you give the Government more money its like a free ticket to spend 1.25 dollars for every dollar taken in. It leads to waste, and puts us further in debt. Its people like you that encourage raising taxes on the rich that are going to encourage more wasteful debt.
RiotHouseLP 6 months ago

RiotHouseLP 6 months ago

RiotHouseLP 6 months ago
Say we take in all this money from the rich. Why do it during an administration that has record spending? Lets slow down here, cut spending and balance the budget. But taxes should not go up until spending goes down because raising taxes in a recession will only hurt people more. Raising taxes on the extremely rich will not solve our deficit alone.
RiotHouseLP 6 months ago
@RiotHouseLP Oh, yes this administration that inherited two wars, and a new medicare prescription plan. Oh this administration that has to waste money in this economy, oh this administration.

cut spending will drive you deeper into a recession, ever heard of deficit spending?

@RiotHouseLP ur completely uninformed
drake1636 6 months ago
@RiotHouseLP That statement is why we're in the trouble we're in. If we cut spending further, there will only BE the super rich left (if you'd like me to elaborate, the programs that are most likely to be cut further are those helping the poor, meaning, more will become homeless and eventually perish). Plus, if you don't raise taxes, the only thing left to do is borrow money. We are already basically owned by several other countries, and we have a grossly small tax rate for our whole country.

You are incredible gullible.
Buffet makes almost no income; all his earnings are through investment.
Raising the income tax won't effect him but weed out his competitors who are "rich" through income gain.
This will help syphon out his competiton and keep his "monopoly"-like status of being ultra-rich.
Also, Buffet is a tax evader: mercurynews*com/opinion/ci_18720342
fwanksajerk 6 months ago
@fwanksajerk Ok both investment income and wage income (do you see the common word?) are types of INCOME, which areo taxed...did you think that investment income (passive/portfolio income) was not taxed? You really have no idea about economics...
FranticSelf 6 months ago
@FranticSelf
I fail to see how your reply rebuts my point.
Come on, put 2 and 2 together.
fwanksajerk 5 months ago
@fwanksajerk "Buffet makes almost no income" Correction ..almost no *ordinary* income. Investment earnings *are* income, and are taxed, just at a different rate.
The simple version: Stocks gains and dividends are taxed at capital gain rates, 15% for Buffet and peers.
Bond and account interest is taxed at ordinary rates, just like wages.
Many of the wealthy are paying ordinary rates now, because they favor more secure interest-paying investments to stocks in the current economic climate.

@califbozo "tax the rich!" from warren buffet is "make it harder for new people to be rich as me"
he also gets heard because of the fallacy of argument from authority.
lol
he doesn't have that conscience you love.
you can donate to the federal government. Ron Paul does.
If warren buffet wants his taxes to be higher, he can just pay more.
it's a fraud.

Else you are just a grandstanding hypocrite.
bmxer3212003 5 months ago

@califbozo MY GOD, U Don't See How They R Playing To The Ignorant? They Lie To Your Face! 1stly, getting more revenue MEANS NOTHING if Gov Wastes $. A bleeding man can get a transfusion which may allow him to survive a few extra minutes, the wound needs to be repaired for the transfusion to do it's job. Buffett pays 15% of his Capital Gains (NOT INCOME); his secretary pays INCOME TAX - It's apples & oranges. He'd be better off donating his $ instead of lettg the Gov WASTE IT. IT'S CALLED THEFT

mr buffet is nothing but a political HACK for Obama...Buffet supported him. If Mr Buffett wants to give away all his money, he can deposit it all into MY bank account....I could use the money. When Reagan cut taxes, it created 21 million jobs. Its that simple. Come on Mr Buffet, please give me your money if you think you are making too much money...I will gladly accept it from you.

petelovesrat 6 months ago
why should I when Warrent Buffet says he isn't taxed enough?

3dartistguy 6 months ago
@3dartistguy haha, you think you know me.. I assure you, you dont. Perhaps they did not hire you because of your attitude.
petelovesrat 6 months ago
maybe I didn't even get the chance seeing how they weren't looking to hire no qualified white boys in the first place!
3dartistguy 6 months ago

3dartistguy 6 months ago
@3dartistguy i never said I know you. However your comments inform me that you have some issues with confidence or arrogance as you keep referring to yourself as gods gift to the jobs market. Listen, you dont need to brag about yourself to strangers. save that for the job interviews.
What you are saying is that white people are more discriminated against then black people. Im sorry but the facts are not on your side on this one. Also, how do you know they hired a black person instead of you?
petelovesrat 6 months ago
Maybe its the stupid ass job fairs in whcih employers are encouraged to hire people based on their race and gender just to fill a government mandated quota system? Maybe its the fact that emploeyrs ask me what my race and gender are and are not concerned at all about what my qualifications for the job are? I never said I was god's gift to employers, you said I wasn't qualified just because of your incredbale ignorance and I saw I am qualified and denied employment just because Im not black.
