Luc Besson himself said that it doesn't make a difference which version you watch. I suspect the directors cut version was only released to make more money, when the theatrical version was already perfect as it was.

15 years later its still in my top 10 films.. no CGI no mega stars,just a superbly wrutten and acted movie which stands the test of time..incidentally,this is ranked no. 34 in the top 250 films by IMDB..take into account family /childrens films and i`m sure it would/should be top 10..agree???

Actually Jean Reno,Gary Oldman were actually big stars than and not to even mention the director.CGI wasn't widely present than.For it to be in top 10,that's a tough call.Maybe in top 10 of it's genre but there were some good films in last 50 years of cinematography.
