Rusty has his own place he gives lessons out of not even 10-15 minutes from my house. I've grown up around this area and he's been an instructor for a while. Guy really can play.

I could see that, it is sometimes a little Monotonous, I prefer the old stuff. This is why I think you see that all the players who play in this style are no starting to talk about trying to be more melodic.

Not really, I thought that as well but if you don't undestand the how to visualize the neck of the guitar and classical music it can't be done. Aside shred has been around for 100's of years. Flamingo Guitar is shred, Mozart shredded, lots of classical pieces are shredding, the list goes on. So actually you really need to be in order to play this stuff and make it sound like something.
