  • I am so glad you prefer your hair kinky. So many girls out there want to go natural so their hair can get long and then they can relax it and start the damage process all over again. smh

It's interesting though that the women ive come across who love my hair and want to grow theirs to my length only to straighten it never get to that length anyway because as soon as they get a little bit, they damage it with straightening and then complain their hair doesn't grow.

  • I can't wait for all my relaxed ends to be gone! lol

  • how long did it take you to grow it? i'm not sure if you answered that already

  • Your hair is very nice , but i can say that you do have a nice grade of hair and it seems to be mixed with some other race and maybe that contributes to you fast growth ..this is not facts just an opinion but i do love you hair ....

  • @TheMeka1997 Why do she have to be mixed in order to have healthy long hair? Her hair looks like regular kinky hair she just learned to take good care of it.

  • @TiffyBear Well i did say that it was an OPINION and not fact and i did say MAYBE it contributes toward the FAST growth.I have a neice thats mixed and her hair is kinky but it grows very fast because of her being mixed.I did say i loved her hair but it was just my opinion. In most cases mixed women has a faster growth than a African American Women But like i said no harm said or meant just a comment and opinion...

  • I have a similar length (maybe a bit longer) but my hair is so thin!! Is it possible for me to get thick hair? I'm just losing a lot of hair and I'm worried..

  • hmm do you have any split ends? The ends of your hair seem a bit more hollow than the rest. I might suffer from this too. If you do have them, do you think they are as big of a deal as people make them...as in cutting all of the hair?

  • Awwww this video was posted on my 20th birthday. I can't believe it's already been almost a whole year. I'm really getting old :'(

  • @angelfaye101 im 21 and i say the same thing. I dont like getting older

  • @wishywashygirl19 I just turn 21 today and Im still freaking out about it.

  • @angelfaye101 lol this was posted on my mom's birthday. she turned 36. so dont feel old. lol

  • @siinger1 I know I shouldn't be thinking this way, but I can't help it. To me it feels like just yesterday I was in middle school and looking forward to graduating from high school and going to college. But now that I'm a junior in college, I can't help but to wish that I was still back in the 7th grade. A time when life was so much simpler, and music didn't suck so badly.

  • Test

  • Hi Kimmay, Such a wonderful journey you have had. I believe the 'proof is in the pudding'--and you've been sooo successful in your goals. I look forward to staying tuned as a subber.

And PLEASE what is the song title and artist's name for the music with this video?? Please share. I need to move more & this music will definitely help! I looked back to comment page 22, and didn't see it, but noticed several requests for it. I apologize if I overlooked the answer.

  • 1. Would you ever relax your hair? 2. It appears that you're within reach of your goal of waist length hair. Do you think it's possible for anyone who follows your strategy or fine tunes your method for themselves will be able to achieve the same/similar results as you?

  • @Nique385

Preserving hair is something as old as ancient times. As old as the Egyptian mummies. :o) So my answer is emphatically YES! Protecting one's hair through protective styling, minimal heat and gentle handling will result in retaining more hair (LONGER hair).

  • @Nique385 Now, why would she relax her hair and possibly end up bald head because of it after all this hard work?

  • @CrownJewel32 i know right:D

  • Yeah she does have nice arms I wish! Lol. It looks like she takes care of herself which is partially why she reached her goal so fast because it does have to do with health & diet. Keep it up! My hair is past my collar bone and has reached my back finally. Your videos really helps me. Thanks!

  • okay i see america's next top model :-D

  • It doesn't look flat ironed, it looks really blow dried. You could get that waayyyyyy straighter... but nice hair though.

  • i love those bracelets in the background.can you a video on that please.where do you get them from?

  • wow kimmy:)

  • I can't find your leave-in conditioner video.

  • i love your videos kimmay

  • wow your hair is amazing

  • Adorable lady, Kim Love is. I have a question: what is the name of this song? Does anyone know? It would be much appreciated.

  • ARE YOU BORN WITH THIS HAIR HOW DID YOU DO TO HAVE THIS HAIR DO YOU USE PRODUCT????

  • I can't find any videos on trimming your split ends. I typed in your search box and can't find them....hmmm, do you trim your hair? I am 1 1/2 years natural and afraid to trim...I also don't know how to...please help!!!

  • t'es absolument merveilleuse! Une vraie inspiration... <3

  • It would take my hair 10 years to get to that point. Smh...

  • I LOVE THIS!!! IM SOOO INSPIRED!!!

  • u r very pretty

  • your hair is beautiful! and i cannot believe you are 34! you look 22!!

  • Kimmay, this site is amazing. I believe that you will meet each and every one of your goals. I've watched many others on youtube with gorgeous hair destroy it because they're restless and just focused on trying to look cute. Patience is a virtue. I plan to go through every video you've made as I big chopped 5 weeks ago and am on my way. I wish you much success. You deserve it.

  • All that hair in just tow years! My little girl is natural and her hair is to her bra strap hope I can get it as long as yours!

  • i just stumbled upon ur page. I'm sooo happy i did!!! ur videos are amazing!! and ur website! I look forward to my natural journey now

  • Are you relax? I trying to grow my hair as well but i don't want to do a big crop. Please help...............

  • I currently have long relaxed hair but also want to go natural and start over to grow my hair longer than what it is now. What are your tips in order to keep it healthy upon cutting it?

  • Girrrrrl you are gorgeous and so is your hair. You've motivated me to continue my natural hair journey and i gotta give you props on your organizational skills on your page and how you can just click this to go there! I just love your channel, deff a new subscriber :)

  • i dont get this at all ur natural how come ur hair stays down like tht isn tbecause its long im only 12 so i dont understand that much

  • @IMaMindlessChick

She's straightened her hair in this video, which is why it is hanging down. Moreover, her hair is long and she only wears her hair stretched (twist outs, etc). The longer your hair gets you may find that it hangs down more and stretched out styles on long hair also hang down.

  • @tigereyes5 thx for the helpp

  • What products you use to avoid humidity and reversing it back?

  • so how do you recommend getting ends trimmed or do you recommend that! I havent seen many tutorials on that! help!

  • @amanda6610 On one of her videos she addressed that she never trims HER hair and so she couldnt answer that question. She also said that she has been asked that so many times and she will never address that question again. If you need more info on trimming I suggest you do some online research

  • @amanda6610 and also read the fAQ at the top

  • i have the same length hair as what u do now but mine is relax so i cant get the puff , can i go back natural without cutting all off at once

  • @danger069gurl

Yeh u can, u can cut off bits slowly and rock protective styles lik wigs and buns and stuff.

U dont have to do the big chop :)

  • @bbnne1 thank youso much ama try that, plz sub so u can see ma next vid showing how it worked for me, ill give u a shout out :) God bless.

  • I could not get this song out of my head!

  • Are Black Men & Women really that dumb? She appears to be an African American women.... Black people don't have to be mixed with another race to have healthy long hair... IDIOTS I tell ya...

  • Kimmay do you clip your ends?

  • @drinabooboo Read the INFO BOX. She lists a lot of FAQs there!

  • you're so pretty.

  • love it

  • hey kimmay, how u doin, i just wnted to say ur videos are awsome, and very entertaining :), i jus also wnted to ask u to take a look at my hair and tell me how i can soften it? and make it more bouncy, without the hair being heavy, my growth is good though :) God bless :)

  • Your hair is super long and healthy looking. I don't know but in the video your hair does not seem quite waist length yet. Do you think you can make a video where you stretch your hair to show this length. It is kinda of hard to tell with all the movement. But again you have amazing hair and keep up the great work with your hair journey.

  • I am so in love with your hair!!!! I can't wait until my hair grows that long!!!

  • do you buy into the idea that your hair only growing a certain lenght is determined by genetics/dna?

  • Amazingly beautiful Kimmay... You go girl. I love watching your video's and listening to all your great advice. Thanks again sweetheart for sharing.. You are a true all around inspiration to me and so many others. And it's not just because of you gorgeous mane of hair. You've got it go N on in so many ways I'm so proud of you... My very best wishes to you and yours in everything that you do.. {:-)

  • hee are you mixed?

  • Miss you :)

  • Girl I think I see a gray hair! TIME TO COLOR!! LOL!!

  • absolutely love your hair :)

  • I wanna model some of the items on your website!!!!!

  • I love your hair! You inspired me to try the style of becoming natural since a year ago from today and never go back to perm/relaxers. Where did you get your black & gray shirt from? P.S What blow dryer and hair straight iron did you use? Also, good luck on your natural hair journey!

  • woooow whenever i see women with natural hair like this they inspire me to go natural, w/o chemicals

  • Wooooow! Amazing growth. You flatironed! Your hair has gotten sooo long. Yay Congrats

  • gorgeous!!!!

  • I love watching your videos and I have been a fan for a long time now. Keep them coming. ;-)

  • Gurl I cud just punch u in da face I'm so jealous! :D well done tho and you're so pretty! How the hell do I grow my hair like dat?? Lol

  • My Hair Dont Grow For SHIT -_-

  • @LexxiiLovesYou LMAO awwww

  • @kerplunk39 ;-\

  • I plan on being there one day. You have really enlightened me and have given me much hope for the future of being nappy with luv. Thank you.

  • your arms look great, do you have a workout routine?

  • @blackkinu23 i flat ironed my hair two weeks ago and my hair reverted back perfectly. it depends on the Technic you use. Not endorse? .......seriously?

  • hair envy O.O I wonder where you are from? Are you mixed with anything?

  • @MOJOBABYXO sheck her hair journey part one, trust me, she is not mixed with anything

  • @MOJOBABYXO she is natural this is what happens when you go natural and stop killing your hair with perms. it grows long as hell like every other race and if you want it straight flat iron it. pretty simple eh?

  • @AyPeeElTee But I've been natural all my life and my hair ain't like that haha was just curios because alot of Americans are mixed :)

  • @MOJOBABYXO Not true Mixed race does not mean non -nappy hair. I have seen women from West africa with long healthy hair.

  • I agree. If u want bone straight u run the risk of heat damage. But I noticed how ur hair was starting to puff during the vid. Our hair loves water and it seems as though urs sucked whatever was present in the air! good job!

  • Stunning. I love that you didn't go bone-straight - I hate flat, limp hair that's been straightened to death. The body and movement you got was gorgeous.

Also, thanks a lot for making your channel so easy to navigate around - I really appreciate it!!

  • wow !!! looks very nice..

  • Wow.. amazing growth..

  • how long was your hair at the beginning of your hair care journey?

  • This song is FREAKING AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

  • I love your growth but am worried about the health and curl pattern now that you have started to flat iron.

  • @blackkinu23

Are you kidding me? Are you freakin kidding me?

  • @snappynappy87

I suppose I am just speaking of my experience. I had mine on a low heat and only did a top section because the rest was braided with extensions for my wedding hair. I now have the untouched parts curly as usual and the top section is permanently damaged (its been 1 month of washing and it won't curl). I will need to cut it and start over with that section only.

  • Did you ever trim your ends prior to flat ironing your hair? If so how often?

Do you have any broken hairs at all?

    Great video!!!

  • :My flat ironing experience" video never came-- did you dump us kimmay.???

  • I really wanted to ask. After you get flat iron or get a blow out...How long does it take your hair to be all curly and obtain kroils again..and how? I really want to know^ ^ Help appreciated.

  • You have beautiful, healthy hair ! What song is that you have playing in the background ?

  • Your hair is very nice....but I'm interested in knowing what your workout/exercise routine is you have nice defined arms...like the 1st Lady's arm or better. I really enjoy working out so please share you workout routine. Would also like to know what you diet is like you appear to be very fit, thanks in advance

  • Thank you for so much sharing and info. Last year my hair only barely reached my chin flat ironed. I flat ironed my hair today and it is shoulder length! This may not be great growth to some, but I have suffered with seborreheic dermatitis for several years. I literally had clumps of hair falling out. It has stopped now thanks to following similar hair regimine of kimmaytube and other great youtubers. Peace & Blessings!

  • As long as you are responsible with your hair it will grow. Other ethnic groups' leg up of an extra cell's worth of growth is not what is going to be the determining factor of hair length, it will be how you protect your curly locks.

  • This is what causes the MOST significant difference in our ability to retain length. the hair growth itself requires a microscope to see the difference.

  • Now take a needle and a twisted paperclip. Drip oil down the needle, now do this to the twister paper clip. The oil will will travel easily down the needle but not the paperclip. Like straight hair patterns the ability of the oils to travel down the hair shaft without any outside effort makes their hair retain more length. AA women especially with tighter curl patterns have to physically put in the effort to moisturize, oil, etc to maintain length.

  • Decide to weigh in on the debate. First you have to define slow. Research does show that AA hair grows "slower" than other ethic groups at a rate of 100 micrometers. Look at your skin, can you see the an individual skin cell. No. You need a microscope. Well an average animal cell ranges between 10 and 100 micrometers. 100 micrometers adds up over time but for public knowledge the 1/2 inch is standard and even in med school they teach you the difference but the 1/2 inch is standard.

  • @musiclover77able That's a shame then...because pressing dislike will NOT make a hater's hair grow any faster :-) I'm just sayin' lol

  • beautiful

  • I don't know why people are pressing dislike. There's nothing to dislike about your videos. You share GREAT information and your hair is STUNNING! Keep up the great work and keep showin' em how to do it BIG!!! Much love!

  • @musiclover77able

I already said I KNOW black people can grow long hair. MY hair is long and it ain't permed. Next time, trying reading my comment well (or read a scientific paper or two) before cursing someone out. Take a biology class then you'd know that hair growth and rate are all determined genetically and not every person's hair grows the same. The amount of youtube "gurus" doesn't change that fact.

Believe whatever/whoever you want. It really doesn't bother me at this point.

  • @musiclover77able my comment wasn't directed at you or anyone in particular. I just want people who do make negative comments to be thoughtful about the power that words carry. We need to be our sister's/brother's keeper. We often times are so quick to judge without taking account the way it might effect others. Kim has a tough skin and can hold her own, I just can't understand what the negativity is all about. It seems quicker and easier to click on another channel if you don't like it.

  • I don't know how you deal with the negative comments on youtube. I can't believe that people would actually take time out of their busy schedule to write instead of just clicking on another channel. I hope that we can continue to uplift our people and acknowledge good work when we see. I have a hard time understanding haters in general. People of Color please stick together and stop fussing and fighting about things that are meaningless. Kim, keep up the good work, I'll see you on tv :)

  • @musiclover77able

You're putting words in my mouth. I said ON AVERAGE black hair grows slowly compared to other ethnicities. I never said our hair doesn't grow. I happen to be a research chemist, so please don't tell me I need to be educated. These are the findings of in vitro studies. Why do you think we, Indians and Asians generally have brown/black hair and brown eyes? It's because of 'ethnic' genes.

People with long locs have them because their hair grew and they maintained the length.

  • @musiclover77able

On average, AA hair does grow slowly. That's not hype, it's scientific fact; just like how our skin ages slowly. I know our hair can grow quickly. Mine does. But this doesn't refute research.

  • @lavinder11 there is no such thing as "black hair" thats the first stereotype that you have to let go. genes may determine the quality of hair but race does not determine the rate of hair growth. my sisters and i are all the same race and our hair grows at completely different rates and we all have different textures. sorry but your studies are incorrect.

  • @wendymillerful

Genes determine your physical appearance, that in conjunction to origin determines your race. You're correct on that one since there is no such thing as race, per se. I never said that people's hair do not grow at different rates. I said A-V-E-R-A-G-E. I've already said my hair grows quickly. And yes, your genes do determine your growth rate (and sometimes change in rate with hair growth).

It's funny that people don't distinguish literature research from experimental research.

  • @musiclover77able

Well, technically, it does. Our hair grows the slowest and our skin has the slowest aging process.

  • Congratulations on all of the honors and reaching your hair goal =)

    Thanks for making these videos!

  • wow love your hair

  • I really need to get serious about my hair my goal is to be 100% natural bsl right now im transitioning longterm but im not doing as much as i know i need to. I knoow i need to cut my see through split ends but im ascaarreedd lol it was close to apl! But someone told me i cant count jacked up ends so *sigh* chop chop i guess :( btw your hair is beautiful and its definately an inspiration!

  • oh my your hair has grown. its so lovely. one day i'll be there and then your hair will be at your feet. LOL

  • Thank you for sharing your hair journey with the world and showing the many ignorant people that our (African Americans) hair does grow if taken care of and stopping the use of chemicals . I appreciate what you stand for and why you took this journey. You are a gorgeous, intelligent woman and I enjoy all of your videos.

  • so are you saying If you have relaxed hair it won't grow this way ? Or can i grow my hair like this with a relaxer if i keep it up?

  • @tyyahitsmel I don't believe so. It is simply that the chemicals from the treatments tend to damage the hair, making it more susceptible to breakage, split ends, and other issues. If you have your hair relaxed, and it is done the proper way to minimize damage (cause anything you do to your hair can damage it), then following these steps to manage your hair on a regular can lead to retained length. As you well know, your hair grows regardless. It's the ends that you have to preserve .

  • if you had childhood pics to show what your looked like as a child would be great.

  • You look really cute in pink! aaww :) Luv ur vids!

  • Looks great!

  • SO EXACTLY HOW MANY YEARS DID IT TAKE FOR YOUR HAIR TO REACH THIS LENGTH SINCE YOU'VE BEEN NATURAL?

  • @Ckatz410 I'm guessing it will be about 4/5 years to get to this hair length. It doesn't take 10 years for you to be able to grow your hair out this long (Like someone else said).

  • ur so pretty

  • This is amazing and I hope more people get to watch you videos for future references. You've done an amazing document of hair growing, Kudos :)

  • I occassionally save my shedded hair also don't known why but i do...:-). I love your channel.. yet to try out the styles.

    Keep it up. Stay blessed...:-)
