i dunno. i've heard him say he just sucks at playing anything and i've always found it to be interesting when people are really good song writers and are bad musicians. i've read he's always written songs by playing bass guitars for the simplicity

Definitely, I write the bass first on synth and bass guitar because it's more comfortable to work with, not always of course.

Good point, I've often wondered this about him. He's listed very, very occasionally on solo albums as playing acoustic guitar but I don't think he ever plays any instrument live.
